Writing
Thadius tried not to be chicken-hearted.

He'd always been teased about that at the orphanage despite being the hefty size he was. He couldn't understand why everyone decided to pick on him of all the beans residing there. He had pondered about this a lot and had come to a rather hurtful conclusion: they meddled with him because they knew he would never fight back even though he could clearly win over all of them if he wanted to.

But, now . . . now Thadius couldn't think of beating them. Now, he was so afraid and felt so terribly cowardly that be thought he might just turn into a chicken at any moment. But, curiosity that burned brightly like a trick-candle flame was persistent in him. Being the extremely credulous birthday cake he was, Thadius listened to the fire burning him up inside and cautiously moved closer to the door.

The door. It had creaky old hinges that were in desperate need of liberal amounts of oil. He pushed onto it with his back very lightly. It wouldn't budge. He tried again only harder, but the door didn't even make the slightest indication that it had moved. After a few more minutes of huffing and puffing at the foot of the door, Thadius had a sudden realization that the door had a knob and that it, in fact swung the other way.

Feeling slightly stupid and a bit out of breath, Thadius peered charily around the edge of the doorframe allowing only his eyes to roam the surroundings within the threshold of 'beyond the door.' There was quiet whispering somewhere near his left and his eyes followed the hushed sounds. What he was saw made him feel even worse than before and Thadius was starting to regret this adventure of his.

A bean much older than he was—he had decided with himself that the bean was an adult—was discussing about him with the head of the orphanage who he called Missus seated at a desk laden with various folders and scattered papers. The bean conversing with Missus was clothed in a rather thin coat which seemed awful to wear in such cold weather. Thadius wondered how that bean stayed warm outside in such poor choice of clothing. The bean mumbled inaudibly then stuffed a few crumpled papers from the cluttered desk into one of her coat's already bulging pockets. Not knowing what to feel about all this, Thadius shuffled into the room only to cower into a corner soon after in his brief moment of courage.

Missus' murmur sounded and Thadius jumped too suddenly, he slammed against the wall with a resounding thud that caused the swarmed desk to shake a little. The shy bean that had been facing Missus all the while noticed this and stole a small glance backwards. There he was. Thadius, pushing himself as far into the wall as possible. Thadius squished all the air pent up inside his chest and it came rushing out, bringing a light breeze onto her tender face. There she was. Staring back at Thadius with equal nervousness still pulsing within herself.

They stared. Both eagerly waiting for the other to speak. Then, Missus stood and flocks of papers cascaded to the boarded floors causing to Thadius jump again, spooked by her suddenness. And just like that, the shy bean swooped Thadius into a reassuring hug. He heard a faint jingling noise when she had scooped him up and she smelled something like the ocean. He buried his nose deeper into her fur and smiled.

"I'm Tuesday." The bean pulled out of her embrace and grinned timidly at Thadius, having to tilt her head upward only the slightest since he was a bit taller than her. Thadius blinked in awe of her peculiar name as Tuesday reached for something within her thin coat. It was a kite. The kind Thadius had always wanted to fly outside. Then, without a moment of hesitation, Tuesday reached farther into her coat as Thadius noted the minuscule bell pinned to her front coat pocket—it looked like a bell from one of Santa's reindeer . . .

Out came a book in Tuesday's furry paw, outstretched towards Thadius, etched in gold stating HOW TO LIVE ON A CLOUD and he could hardly contain his delight. Tuesday was a true whimsy whom he'd already learned to adore. He scurried quickly to his room and returned with a thick sweater for Tuesday, "Put this on. We'll exchange."

Name: Khoda Dancer Sonata

Gender: Female

Adoptive parent(s): Amanda Lynn Sonata and Toothless Sonata

Writing: It has been but a few weeks since the little reindeer bean had been picked up from the cold, hard ground, a spattering of snow already falling over her soft baby fur. She opened her blue-green eyes just slightly, yelping at the vision she saw before her... A giant grey thing with wings and green, glowing eyes... Without realizing it she snuggled in closer to the warmth of the arms that were around her. Startled by this as well she practically leaped from the arms... Or would have had the arms not been frimly, but gently, around her middle.

What was said after the bean had buried her face from the scary monster was lost to her as the warmth she had been missing for so long... the amazing smell of a mother... lulled the child to sleep. When she awoke later she found herself in a big bed, her teal eyes going wide as the scary monster who... looked more like her than he did a monster now, his features way more clear now that snow wasnt getting in her eyes, and the sweet smelling thing that had held her, also a creature that looked like her, were sitting on the bed in front of her.

In a gentle voice the sweet-smelling thing spoke. "Hello there, little one." she smiled warmly, it was one that reached her sparkling violet eyes. "My name is Amanda, what is your name?"
The baby bean hunched into the big, fluffy pillows as Amanda reached out a hand. "m...Manda?" came the whispery voice, a confused look on her face. Amanda smiled larger, eyes glowing. "Yes, and this is my husband Toothless." she motioned to Toothless who also smiled very kindly at the baby and put her at ease... Though now that they looked at her she had to be more than a babe... She could clearly speak and think.

"What is your name?" this time Toothless asked kindly, one hand clasping Amanda's gently.
"..." the baby was at a loss. She didnt know what a name was... not really. She knew that the big glowy bean was 'Manda' and the scary-not-scary bean was 'Less'. They gave her the name Khoda Dancer Sonata, Sonata being their last name... and she met their children: Katniss the oldest, the girl whos on fire, Hiccup, Bowen, and Charmander. Katniss was glad to have another little girl in the house and the two played non-stop, teasing their brothers and everything... which lead to the night a few weeks later... Tonight.

Khoda was laying in her room, unable to sleep, the house still unfamiliar to her but comfortable at the same time... except for the shadows on the wall that were slowly becoming monsters creeping up the walls and over to her bed to get her. She jumps as the door opens a crack and Char, the youngest next to her, creeps inside, his flame-like tail a beacon in the dark. He climbs up next to her and snuggles up next to her. "Cant sleep?" she shakes her head. "Me neither. Wanna- wait whass thattt?!" he bolts upright in bed and they both cling to each other as the door creaks open again.

This time it was Bowen and Hiccup coming in and sliding into the now cramped bed as well. "Bowen couldnt sleep." the teenager Hiccup declares, and Bowen chuckles and playfully punches him. "Yea not as if you were scared or anything Hiccup!" he chuckles and they all four jump as the door opens yet again, this time Katniss is in the doorway chuckling at all of them. "Scoot over you rascals." and as they do so she climbs right up against the wall with her siblings, her family. "Alright you guys need to be quiet. I can hear you all the way in my room! We need to play the quiet game so we dont wake up mom and dad okay? I'll even tell you a story!" and right away from small little Khoda to the Teenager Hiccup they all settled down and looked at their sister with a multitude of coloured eyes.

"Once upon a time in a land far, far away..." she began in a soft, hypnotic voice as Khoda listened her eyes started to droop. Here, warm, snuggled by her new brothers and sister, she felt safe... She felt at home.

Name:
Winter Olwen
Gender:
Female
Adoptive parent(s):
Shay and his mate Mushka
Art OR Writing: Writing - Limit 750 words:
Winter was awakened by her foster parents telling her to pack her things, which wasn't much, that she was getting a new home. That they were here to take her home. Her heart leaped with joy. She quickly gathered her things and ran downstairs to meet her new family. upon arriving outside, she met her new parents. A relatively tall male bean, and his wife, a brightly colored and spotted bean. They greeted her with warm smiles and her heart instantly felt at home. They signed papers and they were off.
When they finally arrived, she jumped out and was immediately greeted by her new family. She saw the diversity in everyone and it made her feel more welcome.
The Bean that was now her mom turned and spoke to her, "Do you have a name, hun?"
Winter shook her head in reply.
"Well then, it's winter time. I think Winter Olwen suits you. Don't you think so too Shay?" She turned to her mate. He nodded in agreement though he would've preferred something more... punky. "Sure," was the short reply he gave.
"Winter obviously stands for winter, and Olwen means 'White footprints.' All tying into winter." She smiled at the new bean.
Winter smiled. She liked her new name.
Soon she was welcomed into the home and they began showing her around. They showed her to her room, which was decorated in mint and coral pink. She loved it. White birds were painted on the walls.
She soon unpacked her things and joined her new family. She felt somewhat shy, but she started to warm up when her new siblings introduced themselves. There was her new brother, Jack, and sisters Whiskey and Yui. Whiskey's mate Queso Dip, and Yui's mate Calliope and their son Tory. She thought they all made lovely couples.
She looked at her new family with admiration, one day hoping to bring her own parts into it. She liked that Yui had a girl mate, since Winter liked girls too. Some Bean's had shamed her for it and picked on her for it when she was in the orphanage.
They all went outside and enjoyed a family walk, all getting to know the new member of the family. They blessed her with things like yellow daisies, pictures of them all together, rings for her fingers and ears, some necklaces, and even some tail charms, all of which she adored.
She knew overall that this was her family. This was where she was meant to be and she didn't feel out of place, not one bit. She finally had all the missing puzzle pieces and they fit perfectly.

Name: Alaia
Gender: Female
Adoptive parent(s): Eli and Shen
Art OR Writing: It had been nearly a year since Eli and Shen took the orphaned jbd and welcomed her to their home. At first the transition had been hard on the little bean but over the first few months it got much easier. While Eli and Shen were more than happy to share their home with the bean they soon called Alaia, her "sister", if you will, wasn't too joyed to have to share the attention. But over time like anything, they learned to get along and soon formed a sisterly bond that was meant to last.
Out of all the fun times they'd had together as a real family, there was one in particular that stuck out to Alaia the most. This could be because of the fact that it happened just a mere few days before, but that was just a minor detail. The sweet memory brought a smile to her lips causing the corners of her mouth to raise into a goofy grin. It had been Christmas, a time of giving, family and hope. It couldn't have been much past 3am when Alaia and Sylven got up and snuck downstairs together, Alaia wearing her headband with reindeer antlers and Sylven wearing a little Santa hat her dads had gotten her before.
As they crept down to the tree in the silent house, Alaia was filled with excitement. Sure, she knew her dads were getting her something for Christmas but that's not why. No, the reason was simple; this was her first Christmas with a family she could call her own. Her sister and her hadn't completely gotten along all year, and she was hoping that her gift to Sylven would make up for it. Inside a box she had put a homemade snowglobe, one with a scene from a place Sylven had always dreamed of going to.
Their young eyes glistened with surprise as they found the tree, presents littering the bottom. They both let out a tiny squeal and scurried back upstairs to go back to bed. Soon, daylight broke. The family had gathered in the living room around the tree, all of them still waking up when Sylven cried out, "It's snowing!" and it was.
Soon enough they started opening gifts when Sylven reached for the one from Alaia. Alaia bit her lip, hoping the gift would be good enough for her sister's high standards. The suspense was building up and the tension in the air was thick enough to cut with a knife. Sylven's first reaction was surprise and Alaia feared for the worst. Suddenly, Sylven broke into a grin. "I love it!" she exclaimed, unable to stop smiling. The whole family soon was smiling from ear to ear, happy to have each other. That one moment had stuck with her, making any bad day automatically better.
