Word counter I usedI yawned as I walked towards the barn, the snow crunching beneath my feet as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes. Today's the day I get to meet my new horse, a Hyrulian Gypsy. I walked through the barn, slowly, taking time to greet all the animals in the stalls, before I stopped dead in tracks. Time seemed to freeze as I saw her. A beautiful, perfect, silver grulla mare with frame overo markings stood in one of the stalls, sleeping peacefully. She was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen, her flowing silver mane so long it almost touched the ground, it brought joyful tears to my eyes thinking of all the ways I could style such a long beautiful mane. Then I caught sight of her luxurious silver tail and it WAS so long it could touch the floor and my heart almost stopped, unable to even comprehend how many ways I could braid or style it. I slipped into the stall quietly, finally looking closer at her coat. A silver grulla... Beautiful. I looked over her white markings, giggling quietly and happily to myself at the two on her neck. One kind of, if you looked closely, looked like a bat. The other looked, again, if you looked closely, like a lightning bolt. Or a capital H. Either way, still really cool. I gently touched her side, feeling her soft fur. It felt like velvet, and it made me feel warm inside, reminding me of a purple blanket I used to have as a kid. The horse finally looked at me, slowly blinking her sleepy eyes. Oh and what beautiful eyes they were... A beautiful purple that made my heart, and time, stop. I ran my fingers through her velvet-like fur, before realizing I had her name under my fingers. "Velvet." I looked into her beautiful, kind eyes and was almost shocked at the intelligence I could see in them. So, I asked. "Velvet. Is that an okay name? What do you think?" I didn't really expect a response, but I got one. A soft nicker and a gentle bump from a horse nose. I giggled softly and stroked her head, smiling. "Well then, I guess its settled, you're Velvet from now on." I sat down by the stall door, my legs felt too jelloy to stand any longer. As I sat, I started telling Velvet what her life was going to be like, all of the animals she'd meet on my farm, all the friends she'd make with my nervavontiis, how beautiful I'd make her look by braiding and styling her mane and tail. As I talked, I noticed she seemed to be listening, her head drooped down slightly, ears flicked in my direction. I smiled, happy that she would listen to me blab on like that. I patted her face, getting up. My legs felt more like legs now, so I led her out to the pasture and let her loose. A smile spread across my face from ear to ear as I watched her gallop around. She'd get along well here.

Word counter I usedI giggled to myself as my fingers worked quickly, weaving small pieces of Velvet's mane into beautiful braids. Velvet seemed like she couldn't care less, instead focusing on
Eko in his stall, occasionally nickering at him. I nudged her shoulder gently to try and get her attention but nah, I'm not as interesting as that big ol' Neravontii, I guess. I kept braiding until there was nothing left to braid, then I went to work on braiding that long flowing tail of hers. So much hair..! Velvet stomped her hooves impatiently, wanting to go play with her lovely Eko, who really looked like he wanted nothing to do with any of this. I finished braiding her tail after 20 long minutes, then brushed down her fur, curri combed the dirt to the surface, used the hard brush to get more dirt out of her fur and to the surface, and then used the soft brush to gently sweep away all the dirt and gross that had come to the top of her fur. Then after that, I started to clean her hooves. I got down on one knee and propped her hoof on my knee while cleaning it, while she huffed and puffed and struggled to pull her hoof away from me, one by one. Then, it was time, for the worst of the worst. The bath. Velvet snorted, obviously not happy about what she knew was coming. I gave her a bath, washing from her neck all the way down to her hooves to further clean her fur. After I was done, which didn't take long, I put her in her stall to dry off. Thankfully for her, it was right by Eko's so she could still neigh and snort at Eko, no doubt complaining about getting her feet done and being washed. I left for a bit to let her dry off, and when I came back, Velvet was flirting with Eko, who was still ignoring her. I took her out of her stall and made sure she was dry. She was, so I started saddling her up. First I put on her saddle pad, then the saddle. After I got that all nice and set up, I put on her bitless pressure bridle. After she was all ready, we went to a trail near the farm and went for a long, nice trail ride. It was quite the adventure, but that's a story for another time.
