Favorite Holiday snack and why is it his favorite:
Aarluk loves sufganyot. He wouldn't admit to his sweet tooth, but eating these certainly says it! A traditional Chanukkah treat, he loves the way the jelly explodes in his mouth from the sweet and crispy outside. They remind him of the warmth he feels huddled under a blanket with someone on the coldest of winter days, and of friends.


Favorite Winter tradition:
Aarluk has a very strange winter tradition. Since he loves the cold, he loves to head far north to the endless ice and tundra. But the people there is what he comes for. The Inuit have a risky hunting expedition over the winter to retrieve muscles, by traveling under the thick ice to get them. Aarluk certainly loves risk, and the cold, making this the perfect adventure. Every year he will meet the Inuit who still hunt this way to travel under the feet of ice and snow to get as many muscles as possible. Aarluk thrills the danger of the ice potentially collapses or the tide returning before everyone's out.

The Silent Snow, or shoter, Azalfa, loves to eat anything
that has a minty taste in it, if not she eaither won't eat it or she would burry
it in snow. Why you ask? Well because of her previous owner who didn't take
good care of her what soever had only fed her minty treats for special events,
and has grew a very strong liking into it.

Struffoli (they're always plural) are fried dough balls dipped in a honey syrup, shaped into a wreath, and sprinkled with diavolilli, a type of candy. Sounds (and is) quite rich, and is also probably extremely old -- this sort of use of honey as a sweetener dates back to the Romans.


Favorite Winter tradition:
Ghiaccio hails from Italy, and there are many traditional things she does during the holidays. In Italy...

The Christmas season lasts for 3 weeks in Italy. It goes from December 17 to January 6. During this time children go from home to home reciting Christmas poems and singing. In Italy, children wait until January 6, Epiphany to open their presents.The children's presents are delivered by Befana, a kind ugly witch who rides on a broomstick. Panettone is a traditional cake filled with candied fruit that is very popular during the holiday season. Manger scenes and Christmas carols originated in Italy.Christmas day is reserved for church, family, and feasting. Shepards come into the town and go house-to-house playing bagpipes and singing carols.

Ghiaccio loves to do all of the mentioned, but her favorite tradition is singing and reciting her poems. Her favorite song to sing is LA Befana vien di notte, or Befana Comes By Night, found here!. The song goes as followed, with some versions being longer:

In popular folklore Befana visits all the children of Italy on the eve of the Feast of the Epiphany to fill their stockings with candy and presents if they are good, or a lump of coal or dark candy if they are bad. In many poorer parts of Italy and in particular rural Sicily, a stick in a stocking was placed instead of coal. Being a good housekeeper, many say she will sweep the floor before she leaves. To some the sweeping meant the sweeping away of the problems of the year. Strilia's favorite holiday treat is hot chocolate. She adores the creamy perfectness of the steaming drink, and add a few sugar heavy marshmallows and you have created a thing of beauty! The reason behind it being her favorite is a story from her past.

One day she was sitting watching the snowflakes fall from the sky, the little balls of magical dust that coat the world in a shimmery blanket. She loved it. It was just so beautiful! She stuck her tongue and tasted the snow, and loved the refreshing coldness of it all! Her father called her from outside and in she went. In his paw was a beautiful china cup decorated with snowflakes and laden in a swirl of cream, and decorated in small sweet marshmallows.

Favorite Winter tradition:



One of Strilia's favorite things to do in the winter months is to light the Menorah candles. She loves to watch them glitter and shimmer. Her best memory of these candles is when she was 12 and was allowed to light the candle each day on her own for the first time. From then on, she lit the candles each year, every day. And when the last candle was lit, she would plan a candle lit dinner and party for her and her dad.

Favorite Holiday snack and why is it his/her favorite: Nonpareil mints are by far the most desired treat for the holidays. She loves the flavor, the texture, and the bright colours against the white winter.
Favorite Winter tradition: Verglas enjoys kicking up piles of snow to shape into little Snow-Viscets. She likes to decorate them with berries for the mouth, as only food belongs there in her reasoning, and pebbles to make the nose and eyes. She'll spend hours just searching for two matching eyes, so long as her sculpture comes out nice.
