“Show me what you’ve got.” Hecate said, leaning against a tree. I moved to the center of the yard, about fifteen feet or so away from the target.
I held a knife in my hand, angling it before throwing it. With a thud it hit the ground in front of the target, glancing over towards my mentor with a nervous look. She simply corrected me and told me to try again. Each time I threw the knife it landed closer to the target than the last. I threw my last knife, watching as it hit the target.
“Again.” She said with a satisfied nod, watching as I retrieved the knives.______________________________________________________________________________________________

-Art above by Ymir I stood outside my brother’s house, watching through the window into the joy filled room. A small, rather sad smile formed on my lips as I watched them. My gaze focused on my brother, who happens to be howling with laughter like always. Our friends sat there with him, talking away like birds in the spring. I set my hand on the cold, smooth glass of the window, staring at my brother with a sad look in my eyes.
“I’m sorry” I whispered, feeling a lump in my throat. “I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t believe it to be the right thing to do.”
A twig snapped behind me and I spun around in surprise. A relieved sigh escaped my mouth as I saw my mentor standing behind me. She was a lithe lady who wasn’t the most vocal person, but she always voiced her opinion and corrected any errors I made.
“Ready to go?” She asked, her voice sounding rough yet quiet. Her harsh, green eyes narrowed at me, looking impatient.
“Y-Yes ma’am” I said, sounding brittle in the way I spoke. I was in an almost fragile state, forced, in a way, to leave my friends and my only family. I sat the gift I bought for my brother on the doorstep before turning to follow my mentor. A single tear escaped my eye, rolling down my cheek as I felt my heart shatter.
“Someday you’ll understand” I mumbled, fighting the urge to turn and run back to those I loved.______________________________________________________________________________________________

I had grown used to the fear that came along with the mention of my name. I am the Vulture, a bloodthirsty assassin as people described me. But truth be told there’s more to me than that, just take the time to see.
The sound of my heavy breathing drowned out my thoughts, footsteps echoed around me as I chased a lady by the name of Azalea on the rooftops over Main Street. I stayed focused as I swerved to the right, Azalea took a sharp turn and I followed her with agility that betrayed how much practice and patience was put into this.
I was eighteen when I left home, abandoning the only family I had to start my career. My mentor trained me, teaching me in everything I needed to be an assassin. But it’d been five years since I left my brother, I’ve changed a lot in those few years. I’m not sure anyone I knew would recognize the women I’ve become. The regret I felt the first few years has long since gone, leaving something else entirely.
Azalea kept taking sharp turns in hope of losing me, shoving things in my way so I’d trip. As swift as I am, I still stumbled a few times. I took a sharp turn, speeding to catch up as her last antic managed to allow her some time to make an effort to escape. I wish she’d just understand I was just looking for information, if I wanted her dead she would be.
Azalea glanced behind her, a panicked look on her face as I caught up. I reached my hand out to grab her, she was leading me too close to where my brother lived for comfort. I managed to grab her a street away from his house, stopping her so I could get the information I needed. ______________________________________________________________________________________________

-Art above by Me It’s been years since I first met Azalea, we still laugh about that day. She’s grown to become my best friend and has changed me in a few ways.
“I can’t wait for you to meet everyone!” Azalea exclaimed, practically bouncing about besides me. She’d finally convinced me to join her band of hero’s, a little group which focuses on doing good and helping people.
“Your way too excited for your own good.” I laughed, trying to get her to stand still while we walked to the meeting place.
“You’re excited too and you know it” She snorted, giving me a playful shove. I giggled, following her as she led me into a house.
“I hope you don’t mind but we’re having a little Christmas party.” She said, opening a door for me.
“I don’t mind at all.” I said, feeling a bit of guilt as I remembered the Christmas party my brother held years ago. The sound of laughter coming from the room lifted my spirits a little, that is until I noticed him sitting there. My brother, laughing like always. Except he didn’t quite look like the happy person I once knew, more like someone who was pretending for the sake of those around him. I realized in that moment that when I left it broke him, leaving whoever this man was in its place.
My breath caught in my throat as he turned and looked at me, I felt my heart sink as I saw the shock, anger, and hurt on his face. He was confused, probably bursting with questions he’s had buried all these years. Azalea was simply introducing me to everyone, not yet having noticed the fact that I knew the man sitting in front of us. I glanced at the floor, unsure of what I would say to explain why I left.______________________________________________________________________________________________Word count; 1000/1000
