The gas mask is a symbol of charity and
remembrance for what he has done in the past,
wearing it for a hidden reason.. (as stated below)

Orphaned at a young age, bane has lived in a pack for many years, and unlike the pack he was in,
he's had a darker background than anyone had ever imagine. See, his parents were supposedly the viscets of
a rival pack- a dangerous pack, as the Alphas of Bane's adopted pack have commented. You can already assume
that he was unwanted for his parents, but no. He had a lot of friends, of course, but the Alphas thought that his
kindness was a burden to their reign. The Alphas believed that they were the kind ones, the gentle
ones, but they drove this pack with empty promises and false hope. Bane, unlike the others, knew what they were
doing. He saw what the others could not. He saw the cruelty that fogged around the unwary pack- but that didn't
stop him from doing his duty. Bane's duty was to heal, to help others in need, and to spark faith in the hopeless.
The Alphas despised the viscet's actions. They thought that those actions would stain their name and reputation.
So they had a plan to keep Bane from helping others.. but they didn't really know how to work it out-
until the next day. One of the Alphas led a hunting party to the far side of their territory, and while they were
hunting for the occasional rabbit, they heard the sounds of an injured animal from a nearby fallen tree, and they
investigated the site. Just near the fallen tree, there was a viscet struggling in the grips of a fox trap, her hind
leg entwined in its deadly wire. The poor viscet had bled excessively, but the fight in her eyes still sparked like
any other viscet. The upsetting thing was that the viscet was a member of the rival pack. Before the Alpha
could react, Bane was instantly tending to the rival viscet, trying to free her from the trap. However,
the Alpha shooed him and the other pack members away, that she would take care and
free the viscet. Bane was hesitant, but he knew he had to obey, so he followed his packmates- but he lagged
behind. Suddenly, the viscet heard the sounds of plantation scuffling among the undergrowth. Bane darted
back to the rival viscet's aid, but before he emerged from the bushes, he couldn't believe his eyes. The
Alpha was attacking the rival viscet. She was trying to strangle the female in her claws, but the rival pack
viscet still had the fight in her eyes- but the skirmish was quick. The Alpha had killed the other viscet
with a merciless heart. Bane's blood went cold, and an icy chill of fear ran through his spine. If you were
to ask Bane about how he felt as he witnessed the murder, there was one word he'd describe himself:
insanity. His innocent sanity became an unspeakable insanity, and he fled the scene before the
Alpha turned her back on the victim of her claws. Poor Bane couldn't sleep that night, watching the
bloody scene replay in his mind over and over again. The very next day, Bane had one thing on his mind,
and that was to warn his many friends in the pack. So he did, trying to describe every little detail he'd seen
during the battle. No one believed him, and no matter how hard he tried, they'd accuse him of hallucinating or
having a nightmare. Suddenly, rumor sprouted from among his pack, and, alarmingly, reached the Alphas.
The Alphas heard of this and began to feed their pack some more gossip, fake facts about Bane. One by
one, Bane's friends became foes, isolating him and following their "merciful" Alphas. They'd blame Bane
for every little thing that happened, like the escape of a caught rabbit, or the illness of a pack member.
However, after being bombarded by rumors, Bane didn't let his job down. He had a great feeling that his destiny
was to help those in need, and he kept on being charitable and continued mending the physical and emotional wounds
of others. Most of the viscets thought of him as a spy, but really, they thought of him as a hero. A week later, the
Alphas set up another plan. This time, the male Alpha took him to an orchard, and just spoke with him. Bane's left his
guard linger at a low point- and that was his mistake. The Alpha lunged at him, slashed at him at least four times, then
let him go on purpose. Bane fled back towards the safety of his pack, but an angry group of viscets stood between
him, and the camp. The Alpha female accused him of attacking her mate, and Bane disagreed- only to see the
sight of her limping mate and two other viscets guiding him. The female Alpha ordered the pack to attack
him, and Bane was instantly under a mass of angry viscets he'd known as friends. Bane tried to fight as hard as hard
as he could, but he was greatly outnumbered by his own pack. The male Alpha ordered them to stop, and Bane was
realesed from their clawing and biting, but he was gravely injured. Then, the two Alphas called the pack together
and led them away, leaving Bane to die- not in peace, but in pain. The viscet didn't move from where he lay,
until night came. He was still suffering, and the last thing he saw was a shadow looming over him as he
closed his eyes..
Suddenly he woke up, sputtering and coughing up water. Bane looked around, but he jerked in pain. He was confused and
alone, yet covered in.. bandages? Bane wasn't dead, but he was still in pain. Just moments ago, he was suffering, bleeding and
struggling to stay away from the clutches of eternal sleep. The viscet soon realized that he was in an unfamiliar place- a building, perhaps?
