Mordechai is nicknamed Crazy Mo, for good reason. The male is a nutter. He is commonly seen talking to himself and most of the things you hear him say make no sense what-so-ever. Well, at least to you, it doesn't make sense. But for Mo, it is all one big conspiracy and he is always coming up with ways that "they" are trying to get him. While he might seem a little off kilter and paranoid, Mo is a very intelligent Viscet. He just has trouble getting his brain to calm down for five seconds and this leads to his babbling, "end of the world" sort of talk.

Why do they wear the gas-mask?
Mo is a very.....um.....paranoid fella. He is constantly afraid of something being in the air that could make him sick or potentially kill him. He babbles on about it and yells at those who do not wear gas masks like his own.

Extra:
Not much is known about how Mordechai became so crazy. But the rumor is that the poor guy was working on some sort of experiment involving toxic chemicals. When he attempted to combine two particular chemicals, there was an explosion that filled his lab with a nerve gas. It is said that Mo inhaled so much before escaping the room that it jumbled up his brain and essentially destroyed his sanity. If you try to question Mo about this, he will just babble on about "them" trying to get him. So some wonder if the rumored accident was really some sort of sabotage by unknown assailants.

Nightshade wears the gas mask not only to look cool but to feel closer to Clear, a boy from the anime DRAMAtical Murder. She feels a lot like Clear and constantly strives to get closer to the fictional boy.

Nightshade is very fond of lemon cakes. They remind her of simple times and she adores the sweet taste of them, no matter how she is feeling.

He's brave and strong, fearless and intelligent, with shining fur, perfect social skills, and perfect intuition. Or, at least he is when he's imagining. Spiff loves to imagine things - in fact, he's rarely in the real world. Literally everything that happens becomes a part of his stories.
When he has to join real life for a while, he's not the perfect, fearless viscet he pretends to be. He's really rather quiet, and gets worried about almost everything. Once he's alone again, if something that he didn't like happened, he'll just imagine it happening a different way, where he's the hero, and everyone applauds him for saving their lives. It makes him feel just a bit better.
Why do they wear the gas-mask?
Ah, that's a hard question, if you look at it in the practical sense. Really, Spiff doesn't need it. He'd live just fine without it. There's nothing in the air that would kill him. He's not horribly injured underneath. In fact, people would probably think him less weird if he stopped bringing it with him everywhere.
Spiff's been imagining things for ages and ages, but one of his favorite things to pretend is that he's a brave astronaut on some alien planet, doing battle with evil space aliens and collecting rare samples of never-before-seen minerals. Of course, if he was really in outer space he wouldn't be able to breathe the air! So he wears the mask to keep him safe in his imaginary off-planet adventures.
