I heaved a heavy sigh as I looked too the other side of the mangled fence, the warm breeze tickling my ears and the smell of grain easing its way into my nostrils. I gazed longingly at the rolling hills that covered the green lands beyond and as I turned back to my own farm I was disappointed by the grass grazed to the root that was bound in by a rusty bent fence. I walked slowly back to the feeding trough surrounded by other cows, all far older than myself. I shoved my way through the quiet crowd and got myself a few morsels but decided not to have a fight with any of the larger cows over food. I looked over my shoulder at the beautiful green grass on the other side of the fence.
I woke up abruptly; as I looked around I could tell that the sun was only just coming up. I smiled rolling back over memories from the farm where I used to live. When I lived there I could think of no place that could be worse, but looking back now I knew that I would always miss the quiet, the stillness. Here the cows where far too loud, and being closer to the city the quiet factor was lost. I was still happy here, since I was purchased and moved a lot had changed but there was one thing I would never forget as long as I lived; the grass is not always greener on the other side.
