Chrysaora Basilisks #250 | Orphan Rescue Event

Postby noreptiles_ » Thu Jul 16, 2015 10:47 am

General Info
Chrysaora Basilisk are the prevalent equine creatures that inhabit the world Lucent. They roam by the hundreds, using their unique hooves to score the uneven rock and track down their most vital source of nourishment; evil. The relationship between Chrysaora and humans is a complex one. Chrysaora vocalize like horses, but are also thought to have a syrinx much like birds do and have been recorded displaying a variety of sharp, avian sounds. Their eyes layer over with a dark, murky black until their normal eye color pierces through in a great ball of electric light, radiating toward their victim's open eyes and paralyzing them. The Glare is able to stop both human and creature, and after a few days, unique to other forms of basilisk, the paralyzed being transforms into a sea nettle.

Orphan Rescue Event wrote:The story goes like this;
A human trapper had stolen many chrysaora foals and was selling them in a underground black market. A organization of people stopped him and rescued the foals, and are now trying to adopt them out. Each of the foals needs an experienced owner to love and raise them. We're counting on you, the members of the chry community, to give these babes a second chance at life.

Tasks:
- first encounter
- gaining trust
- first feeding
- free spot [make it original!]

I can't stand the taste of this strange food, it looked like milk..defiantly didn taste like it. Knocking the bottle out of this two legged helpers hand. I snorted loudly and pawed the ground before nosing at the ground the fresh vegetation scent gaining my attention..now this looked tasty. Nipping at the top of the grass blades i pulled a small face chewing what was in my mouth slowly before getting a mouthful and chewing it making a happy sound as it sweetened the more i chewed.

Moving away from the two legs, I went to joined the rest of the small herd i had been placed with, lowering my head as i passed the dominant Mare and stayed close to the younger Chry i had befriended, bumping my nose against there's i bumped them with my flank and mock kicked before running as they chased me, playing happily. I've been here for a few months now I regained my strength found someone who cares for me, and somewhere warm to go when the weather turned horrible.

Though, If they ever tried to get me with that rope again I'll give thema good what for!

Task:
The foal lay apart from the others. He was swaddled in a blanket and still shivering, his shoulders twitching with the effort; and his color was so exquisite even under the fluorescent lights, the vivid orange of his mane and tail. He sneezed as I watched, shaking his head disdainfully and rubbing his nose against the coarseness of the wool.

"That one," I said, turning to face the volunteer who was helping place the foals with new owners. I had startled her with my outburst and said softer, "I want to work with that one."

She gave me a warm smile and straightened up. "Good," she said with an approving nod. "Go say hi then."

I ventured closer to the foal, who monitored me with intelligent eyes. I had one Basilisk at home, a half-wild stallion named Ellery, and I was used to being careful around him and his powerful gaze. I looked at the floor and eased down onto my knees. The floor was damp, no doubt to make the foals more comfortable, and the wetness soaked into the legs of my jeans.

"Hi there," I whispered. The foal tilted his head, blinked his eyes. I kept my hands to myself though the temptation to touch was almost overwhelming. "You're just brand new, aren't you?"

When I had first heard of the black market bust I'd known right away that I had to come see the foals for myself. It was such a tragedy, somebody thinking they could steal these foals right out from under their parents' nose and sell them to the highest bidder. I looked down at the little colt before me and couldn't help but feel a pang in my heart.

"It's alright buddy," I said softly. "If you want, you could even come home with me."

The foal scrutinized me. After a moment he stretched his neck out and ever so gently prodded my hand with his nose. I turned my hand slightly, to give him access to my fingers, and he rubbed his muzzle against my hand, half-closing his eyes. I smiled. I knew right then and there I was going to give him a home.

"Alright, Icarus," I said, scratching his chin with my fingers. "Let's go home, kid."

POV
It was a warm and crisp spring day. Momma and I were laying in the grass. It was the first day in a long time where we hadn't heard a human or some foreign contraption. I saw a little orange butterfly known to humans as a monarch. I chased it through the dry grass and after a while I got tired. Momma and I walked back to the cavern where the rest of the herd was. I trotted a little faster when I heard my friends vocalizing happily. Or so I had thought. As I got closer and closer to my home, I heard my friends screaming out in terror. Telling me to run. my mother dashed into the cave to save my herd. A human ambushed me as I stood outside of the cave. A loud boom crashed in my eardrums and I fell into a deep sleep.
I awoke in a dark and cold place. I had a tag on my neck. It had strange markings on it. I stood up off of the freezing ground. I heard other Chrys vocalizing back and forth. I listened to see if I could hear mother. I pressed my ears up against the wall and waited. Listening for her. I lay there next to the wall waiting for hours upon hours. I never heard her again. Tears trickled out of my eyes and soaked my face. I called out to see if any of my friends were there. Not one of my herd friends were there. I was all alone. I was trapped in my dark cell with barely any food or water. I could not see out of my cell and no sunlight could get through. There was only a small slot where the humans slid my food in. I would lay shivering next to the wall waiting to hear someone from my herd. I slowly was withering away, becoming thinner and thinner. On one especially cold day, I heard a few loud thuds and humans shouting back and forth. I perked my ears and started to vocalize to let someone know that I needed help. After pounding on my cell stopped, I saw my cell fill with light and a figure stood at the front of it. I stood up and looked into the human's eyes. I wasn't going to change it into a sea nettle because I had a vibe that it was here to help me. It placed a rope around my neck and led me out of the place that had kept me prisoner for so long. I was loaded into a human metal contraption and taken away to more humans. I trusted them because I knew where ever mother was, she was watching over me. That was the first day of my new life.
