TraceRinMardukaBartholomeusAnnie turned her head and put her arm right in front of her eyes to protect them from the flying sand and burning sun. Right in ront of her was some kind of valley. Mountains as tall as she never had seen in her life, covered with snow on the top. A river flows next to their feet and just a few bushes covered the ground. Her feet felt hot on the sandy ground and the sun burned without mercy on her pelt. "Mother? Why does dad has to travel that far?... i mean... isn't it enough that he informs all packs near our territory?" Annie shaked the sand from her feet and continued walking after her brother and father, which both reached already the end of the hill. "It's his destiny, sweety... nothing we can do about it. Sometimes it happens, that you will find something you want to sacrefice your life for. Not everyone knows their destiny... but some find it and when they do they going to live it with everything they have." Annie listened carefully to her mother and thought about her words. "And... and what is your destiny mother? Did you find it?" Darra looked to her daughter and smiled before she turned her head again. "I found my destiny years ago, darling." "Really? And what is it? Something adventurous? Are you a leader of something or did you learn how to create magic?" Annie shaked her tail in excitement. Her mother laughed and closed for a moment her eyes. "One day you will find out by yourself!" "But that's not fair mom! Tell me! Tell me!"
Before Annie could ask again her brother Dariel came running from the hill. "What's up Dariel? Did something happen?" Annie looked at him with a puzzled face. "Not really... but dad said that we will reach a village in a few hours." "But that are good new, aren't they? Why are you so nervous about?" Annie started to tease her brother a bit but in the next moment her mothers eyes widened. "Annie let me be! Father said we have to covere there is a..." "SANDSTORM!" Darras expression changed in an instant as she saw the racing clouds approach the hills. "RUN! RUN!" She pushed her children hardly to the right down the hill, where gras started to grow. Her instinct told her, that where gras is there have to be some trees. Dariel was a fast runner but Annie had some problems keeping her pace up with the others. "There! Trees!" Darra screamed. Cover behind them and protect your face with your tail and body until the storm stops!" "But what happened to dad??" Annie screamed. "He knows what to do, child! Now you have to think about yourself if you want to live!"
Annie saw how her brother jumped down a small cliff... also her mother disappeared suddenly. She felt panic in her chest. Her heart felt like it's going to explode. Suddenly a large group of hooved animals run in her direction... in a panic state! Everything under their thundering hooves will be destroyed...if animal or plant... they don't care anymore! Annies eyes widened as she saw, that also rocks got destroyed. She collected every power she had left in her body and run for her life. She didn't pay attention to where she's running anymore. The only thing she wanted to see is a place where she will be able to escape death. The group was faster than expected and one second later she was in the very center of them. Dust made breathing nearly impossible and the thundering hooves blocked her hearing. She knows she has to escape this deadly trap as fast as possible...if not, she won't see the rising sun the other day anymore.
One hooved animal fell to ground and was overrun by the others. It seems they don't have any intension to stop... no matter what! "Help... i need help..." Annie searched for escape routes and couldn't find one. She recognized her lack of speed and saw the animals coming closer and closer. "This was my life?" she thought "I can not end here! Not in this situation!" A tear run down her cheek and disappeared a second later in the dust. She closed her eyes as the thundering hooves approaches from behind... and in the next moment everything went black and silent.
"Am i dead?" A quiet voice escapes her throat. "No... No your not..." Annie tries to open her eyes slowly and as she lift herself up a bit a red Rukami with white markings and spikes on it's back stood right beside her. Also another one, bown, with red markings and long hair on it's face was standing next to the other one. "Are you ok? Did you get hit from a hooves or something? They really can cause some very bad injuries..." His voice was deep but young and full of power. "No... i'm fine! No bad injuries, just exhausted and some scratches but nothing serious." Annie looks aound her "Where am i? I never saw this place before..." She was in middle of a green forest with many plants and a waterfall on her right side. Next to the waterfall were some great stones, which look like staircases to a whole other world above. "We saved you from those panicing hooved animals and brought you to our pack for safety reasons. At the moment the others are on the hunt but i think they will be back early." "And that's why we should go now Trace! Come on! You saved her but you can't take her with you in the pack! Bartholomeus won't be amused and if he is in a bad mood he will attack you again for not obeying the pack rules... I won't save you another time Trace!" "Yeah, yeah i know...But Rin! Look at her! She hasn't recovered yet and she needs our help to find her own pack again! I don't think she will survive in those circumstances! Also Bartholomeus has to aknowledge that..." The red wolves, Trace, looked a bit worried but didn't move from Annies site. The other one, a girl named Rin, growled and scratched her head nervously. "Fine! But you take everything he throws at us! To let you know that!!" Rin was angry and worried at the same time but now, she helps Trace taking Annie on his back and took her with them above the waterfall.
From there Annie can see the whole valley the walked in right before the sand storm but it was far away an unreachable if she would try to get there alone. Trace let her slid on the ground. "Try to stay at our side! It's safer! There are some cruel animals, which don't see any difference from prey and friends..." Trace looked at her and smiled. Rin shaked herself, so that her fur got a bit fluffy again and the dust disappeard. As Trace stepped a bit aside a huge field of gras and herds of herbivores appeared right in front of her. "So much space and food!" Annie couldn't believe er eyes and had to blink a few times to realize that this is no dream. "Food yes but our pack lives in harmony with them! We just take what we need and nothing more. We also don't hunt mothers with young ones... sometimes it's hard to get food and we hunger for days but this all keeps the circle of life in balance. Just take so much as you can give back!" Annie was a bit confused... why not hunting more animals so the pack wouldn't starve? But before she could ask something Rin and Trace started walking to a directions with large rocks and mountains. After a few minutes of walk they reached a large cave and everything smelled like Rukami. This must be the packs hideout and sleepingplace! There were lots of traces, fur and bones. Suddenly she saw something blinking in the cave and started walking towards it but before she could look inside Trace blocked her way "Only members of our pack are allowed to enter the cave!" "But why? There was something in it! I just wanted to see what it is!" "Sometimes curiosity isn't the best way to find things out... it could take your life if you're not careful enough!" Annie looked down to the ground and turned around. "Are yor hungry? Here! Eat something and recharge your health and power!" Trace threw a huge piece of meat in her direction. Annie jumped and catched it on instinct. "This is all for me? So much? Are you sure your leader would allow that? For a stranger like me?" "Don't worry! It's my daily ration so it doesn't matter who it eats, right?" Trace smiled and walked away to Rin. Annie watched him go and started to press the meat in her stomach. It feels like she hadn't something that tasty in years!
Suddenly she herd a loud howl. "Tha pack?" Annie stopped eating and stepped back a bit. In the next moment a dark something jumped towards her. She couldn't see what it was and got hit. Quickly she stood up again and looked for the attacker. After the dust layed down she saw two red glowing eyes, a face that is covered in scars and pointed, long ears. "Who are you?!" She growled and pressed her claws in the ground... ready to attack again if he signal comes. Annie started shaking after she saw her opponent directly. Her fangs were long and sharp just like her claws! "Back off Marduka! Let her be!! It's not your duty to judge her!" Trace came running after he saw the surprising attack and growled at her. His fur stood up and made him scarier then he really is. Also Rin came to back her brother up. From behind Marduka Bartholomeus, the leader of the pack, came walking and gace Marduka the signal to retreat. Without saying anything he looked at Annie and it seemed he judged her just with his eyes and nose. A last look at Trace and then he walked away in the cave with a few other memebers, who waited with a bit of distance. Trace knew, that bartholomeus has tolerated but not acepted her. "Phew... Trace, you are insane!" Rin sat down on the ground shaked her head. "You know that Marduka easily could have killed her in an instant?! What then?" Trace looked worried in Annies direction. "I'm fine! My arm hurts a bit and i don't know if the meat i ate will stay at it's place but i'm fine!" "I'm releaved! I hoped he will come before something bad would happen... sorry for not stepping in but i knew, that i would make the situation worse if i step in before Bartholomeus would appear..."
The sun starte to set and the sky became a spectrum of orange, red and blue colours. "I will show you, where you can sleep." annie followed Trace right behind and was curious ho you sleep in such a landscape and situation. They had a little distance to the rest of the pack, but after looking around she was, that some other Rukami also keep their distance like that blue and black/white one or the one with that orange/yellow arm.This must be the ranking of the pack. Outsiders and lower ones sleep with a bit more distance... Trace put some gras together and shows Annie her "nest". "This is where you will sleep. Rin and I will sleep right behind that large rock right in front of you. If something happenes, feel free to come by, ok?" Annie curled herself together and looked up to him. "It's ok! Good Night you two!" Trace smiled and he and his sister disappeared behind the rock. Suddenly Annie felt the loneliness she was hidding the whole day. She was seperated from her family... her mother, father and brother... creatures she ever lived with and now, under the moon of Yliaster, she was all alone... She covered her face with her tail and wasn't able to hide her tears any longer.
Trace also couldn't sleep well and heard the crying noises of Annie... He didn't know what to do because he knew, that sometimes creatures need their time alone to think and be sad and sometimes they need someone, who support them and cheer them up. He decided to let her be and letting her come all by herself if she decides that she needs it. After a while of thinking this and that, he decided to going on a trip or doing something funny tomorrow. Trace wants her to be happy until she gets back to her family!
With a smile he falls asleep.
On the next morning, right before sunrise Trace and Rin woke her up carefully. "Do you think she will come with us? I'm not sure if she..." "Be quiet now! She wakes up!" Still half asleep Annie stretched her paws and yawned. She hadn't much sleep the last night but seeing those two faces, which saved her yesterday let her smile a bit. "Good morning!" Trace tailswung in all directions. He was happy to see Annie still here in the safety of the pack and that she hadn't intended to run away by her own. "The rest of the pack still sleeps but the collectors will be awake in a few minutes... maybe we should gor for a little walk, shall we?" Walk? Where to? And what are the collectors?" Annie looked puzzled and let her eyes slide to the rest of the pack, where every furball still lays on the ground, slightly breathing. Rin made a step torwards Annie. "Collectors are the ones, who collect herbs, berries, look for fresh water and maybe some hunt able herds. When they're back the hunters will go hunting. The just the female ones with kits are left back here protecting the territory and their kits.Everyone will be visting them here and then but it's not really neccessary because they can defend themself pretty well!" Rin smilled and gave an determined look to the pack. "Come on!" Trace walked a few steps ahead. "Let's get find a river! I'm thirty and what is better to take a bath right before sunrise, when the water is still fresh and crystal clear?... The other animals always makes it dirty and all the mud flows in the stream... yuck!" Trace shook his head in disgust."I already said you just have to search for a new one but you never do what i say..."Annie had to giggle as she heard both of them fighting of such a little thing right before morning.
While the sun started to spread its sun rays over the land and wet gras, the three of them enjoyed the fresh air, the silence in the wind and the peace on the fields. Everything was in harmony and peace!
Finally they reached a large river, which gets its water from a waterfall right behind the river bend. Annieseyes widened as she saw the forest and green around the river. She heard hundreds of birds at once and fish were jumping over the water surface. She never discovered such a place as she travelled across the land with her family. Her body felt like it absorbs the energy from the plants and the air makes her awake... "That is amazing! Have you seen the birds? Those colours! and Oh! Look at this! Have you seen that giant fish over there? It just captured the dragonfly right in mid-air! I can't..." Trace and Rin had to smile and their faces brightened up as they watched Annies reaction. Annie went here and there. Jumped on a tree, looked into the river, climbed a stone, jumped down and rolled over the gras.
