I spent a summer at the beach
And never expected this
You taught me heights
And how to reach
And it's something I'll sorely miss

I spent a summer climbing rocks
With you walking in the lead
You taught me views
And breaking locks
But what I'll miss is your creed

I spent a summer in the ocean
With you for a while
You taught me swimming
And moving with the motion
But secretly, I'll miss your smile

I spent a summer under stars
Swapping secrets and sharing hearts
You taught me wishing
And running far
But I'll really miss your smarts

Even the highest spirits are slowly sinking,
Our days of freedom feel like they're getting shorter,
The fall and winter supplies replace those of our favourite season,
The air feels just slightly cooler, just a hint of what's to come,
And these changes can only mean one thing,
One horrible thing that I don't even want to think of;
The end of summer.
Now I know this phrase sets a certain sadness,
A longing for what's on the cusp of ending.
But as the sun sets on our last summertime adventure,
I know summer's gone and there's nothing we can do.

But wait, there's more to the year than summer,
Now we're greeted by the most gorgeous of the seasons,
And with it comes a holiday full of sweets and fun.
Fall will paint everything with the most brilliant shades,
Stunning red and gold hues decorate the once-green trees.

So as much as I'll miss summer,
I know that more excitement is just around the corner.
With the changing of the seasons,
It's like a new beginning for us,
A chance to see the world in a different way.

as I feel the first raindrops
fall upon my head,
I see the first leaves,
fall to their bed
searching for answers,
I finally see,
that summer is ending
and I will now be,
down where the fallen
have laid for their lives,
I cannot live,
without a cry,
I tear through the trees
now golden in rays,
of sunshine and autumn.
as i hear someone say,
"the wisps of the wind
fall through the streets
all that you hear
is a soft creak"
i start to tear up
and soon start to freak
as i spin around and
stare through the darkness
a silver cars pass,
many will live
and many with grasp
the red of the light
as their final breath breathes...
i love my life but how can i
live through this?
of the summer now die?

Autumn draws near and I don my warm coat
And the beginnings of frost catch in my throat
I whisper farewells to the warm summer's glow
and start to look forward to days of fresh snow

The flowers have stopped blooming
The green is all gone
The nights are getting shorter
The heat has moved on
But I couldn't care less 'bout the end of it all
Because I only ever spend summer waiting for fall.

Poem: A bittersweet feeling rises in my chest,
As the last sunset of summer fades into the rest.
At the beginning it seemed there would be no end,
But soon it was clear the end was nearer than expected.

I remember the warm nights in the pasture,
The trail rides through the shaded woods.
The unforgiving sun on a cloudless day,
And the pleasurable gust of air when I entered the barn.

Ah, where have the days gone?
Some days, I surely wished for winter,
But it was the best summer of my life.
Never have I been so sad to see the leaves change.

I listen to the whisper of tree branches rustling in the chilled wind,
They tell of the autumn season soon to come.
The sun is blotted out by the frequent cloud cover,
Yet the memories of summer burn brightly in my mind.

I consider the days wasted on relaxation,
And those spent out with the world under my hooves.
It seemed everlasting at the time,
Yet all good things must come to an end.

The end of summer brings on a week of depression,
Yet seeing those leaves turn such vibrant colors gives me such a thrill.
For I know of the wonderful things in store for fall.
And although summer days are over,
Autumn memories are waiting to be made.
