► WHAT ARE VOLKS?


Volks are immortal nocturne wolf-like creatures, found by humans in a foreign planet a few years ago. Volks do not breed and the birth of these creatures is still unknown.
Their main features are very long ears and tail, feathers on their cheek fur and tail and long and sharp claws. Their pupils are always the exact same color as the iris, making it look like they have no pupil at all. Their feathers, nose, claws, ear fur and tongue glow in the dark. Their size is close to a wolf's. Volks are very agile creatures due to their slim bodies, making it easy for them to escape in any kind of situations. They can easily swim and climb trees. Volks have an omnivore diet, even though they feed mostly on fruits.
Volks are smart creatures, extremely friendly and curious. Some of them are usually tamed by humans before reaching their maturity. Once you tame a wolf, both you and your wolf receive the same marking on the same body part, representing your bond. Some markings are simple and some markings are complex - the complexity of the marking matches the effort of the taming process.

Why I want this Volk: Ever since I discovered volks I have wanted to own one. c: However this is only the second contest i've tried out for because I've been waiting for the right design to come by before I fill out a second form and this one is just perfect. I also have a weird obsession with bats and batman. I'm actually doing a duo custom with my bf this year. He's going to be batman, and i'm going to be the joker c: super lame, I know. We're just nerds tryna fulfill our nerdy needs tbh.

dropping out since I recently won a volk, and I don't think i'll have time to finish up before the deadline ^-^ Good luck to everyone else!

History:

Shiva grew up in the open shrublands. Never one to fit in for the environment, she left for the dark forests and underground caves available to her as soon as she could leave the safety of her mother. Never much one for play as a kit, she was constantly teased and joked upon. To her siblings, she was just quiet and solitary, often looking for the peace of the grass fields but winding up with noisy volks in search of a good play time with her.

Personality:
Shiva is a sneaky and mysterious volk, whom can often be found trying to sneak up on you and scare you. Despite her wings, she can't actually fly, so she is currently trying to find a way to slap-box with them. Shiva never laughs or realizes when she has done something funny, which is very frequently. Constantly making mistakes as well, there is no getting around this ridiculous volk. However, her very serious and grim appearance often leaves her lonely and unapproachable.

How did you find it:
I walked swiftly through the trees as the numbers grew larger and larger by the second. A strange gaping hole in the ground caught my attention. Moving swiftly toward it, I ducked under the roof and into a cavernous chamber, stretching beyond my sight to the right. I heard a peculiar sound and followed, finding the eyes of Shiva peering out from a column. Approaching carefully, I saw her move away cautiously. It was after many minutes of waiting for her to move forward again, was I able to get her anywhere close to me, her curiosity taking over. Reaching out a hand the instant I realized what I could do, I saw the bond mark form quickly on her chest, and opened up my shirt to reveal my own.

Why I want this Volk:
I absolutely love to try drawing my adopts(I can only do it on paper for now until I get better at digital drawing)! I also like to show them off, plan out stories for them, and possibly use them for rps.

History;; Malakai was born
on the coldest night of Autumn in the middle
of the night.
His mother had gotten lost in the depths
of the forest and took refuge in a nearby
cave that was covered in bats.
Upon entering the cave,
the bats had tried to scare her away,
but Malakai's mother refused
to leave and decided it would be better
to make a deal with the bats for the use
of their cave, in order to save herself
and her unborn baby from freezing to death
- or worse...
The deal was that she would then never
be allowed to leave again and her unborn baby
would be raised by the bat clan,
earning his ranks, just as the other bats did as they grew up.
Malakai's mother, unfortunately, died giving birth to him.
Her last wish was for the Bats to take care of her precious boy.

Malakai was then raised by the elder bat and excelled at
everything as he grew.
He was a teen when he truly realized how different he was
from the other bats and he began to question everything.
The bats answered as best as they could,
but Malakai remained restless until his final rights day
((The Clan of the Bats have a final rights day,
where they basically are sent into the woods
by themselves on a mission and only if they
return with a precious stone do they earn their wings)).
He had been painted by the females and set out on his mission.

It was only a week later that Malakai returned.
He had pretty much been through hell,
but had met new people that would
change his perspective forever.
As Malakai had returned with what he was sent for,
the elders each bit his shoulders,
forming the tattoos of the clan and gave him
the gift of flight with bat wings.

Personality;; Malakai is ambitious, outgoing
and will act on his own based on what he believes is right.
Malakai is a fighter and will stand strong as long as he has faith.
He Prefers the night, having been raised by bats,
he has become nocturnal and is very social around those times.
He is very awkward around the opposite gender,
but this is because he has never really encountered
another of his species, let alone a female...
Malakai enjoys the moonlight and - of course - flying!
His wings have made him very playful and excitable.
Open and caring, sassy and bad. Over protective to those he loves
and yet stern and a little domineering.
Thoughtless at times. You'll often catch him with a smirk on his face,
because of some remark he's made in his head and hasn't said aloud.
He appears to think much of himself at times,
but honestly has quite a low self esteem.
He can be overbearing at times,
when he has his mind set on one thing especially,
and gets his way with those big eyes.
He has a quick tongue that will catch you at any point,
that sass.
He can be a real jerk or an amazing friend.
When confronted he tends to dig himself deeper in panic,
which makes him edgy.
He's clever and witty, but also mild and meek.
Don't forget he has feelings too!

How I found it;; On Malakai's 'mission',
he was attacked by a bear and was severely injured.
He had collapsed under a tree in the forest nearest my house.
I tend to go for long walks during the night and stumbled
upon the adolescent Volk. I looked at the helpless thing
and decided to take him home to fix him up and send him
on his way, but during this time, we must have fallen in love
with each other, because it was the most difficult thing
to let him go as soon as he was well enough.
I walked him to the forest where I had found him
and before he left,
he turned around to face me and pounced on me,
licking my face to say thank you.
It wasn't until after he had run off that
I noticed the Bat marking on my neck,
I had thought that the stinging pain had been from his
flamboyant nature and those claws, when he had knocked me over...

Why I want this Volk;; I am completely in love
with this baby's design! He's so gorgeous!
