Winner is Pengu.! By default, as Clumsy decided to retract their form, you have won this boy! Of course, your form did meet and exceed all expectations and it was because of this that Clumsy respectfully pulled out. They found that you had a stronger connection and preferred to see this boy in good hands. With that In mind i would like to congratulate you on yet another beautiful form and a new L.O.C. for your family! <3
Pengu. wrote:"That’s the thing when your parents die - you feel like instead of going in to every fight with backup, you are going into every fight alone.”
Username: Pengu.
L.O.C. Name: Argider
Basque name composed of the elements argi "light" and eder "beauty", hence the name "light of beauty"
Gender: Male
Age:376 Years Old
Element: Light
A lion with the gift of light can: Illuminate dark places, blind foes, create distractions, and create balls of energy.
Argider preferes to not use his gift for means of illumination - light can give you away when you are tracking. He prefers to use his gift more tactfully to blind and distract his enemies and rogues as well as for creating distractions to aid warriors in their job. He uses his gift forcefully when there is no other choice - when he becomes reckless and has nothing to lose. When angered - by reasons such as memories of the past - his light can go out of control and brightly illuminate areas enough to cause temporary blindness to his foes. Due to keeping his temper and emotions in check, however, this side is rarely shown and most likely would only occur when he is searching for his enemy Hyperion.
Rank:Tracker - Head Tracker if position is available in the future.
Argider is a tracker who's specialty is to track down missing enemies or traitors to the pride. He takes great pride in his skill set and he has the scars to prove it. He is often sent out to high risk areas and faces danger on a daily basis.
Personality:
Argider is first and foremost known for being reflective, cautions, calm and collected. He rarely loses his temper and is always in constant check of his emotions. In order to do his job effectively, Argider makes it a point to always focus on the task at hand and to not become overwhelmed with feelings. Feelings can be your downfall in the midst of battle and struggle - something that he knows all to well and something that he would never want to stand in his way again. To him, emotions can get in the way of his performance and may end up hurting you in the end. Argider can come off as being arrogant as a first impression but often shows occurrences of being helpful and even kind. It takes him a while to warm up to someone and is usually seen as a guide more than a close friend. Argider is more than willing to offer advice, comments, or help to others in order to further them on their endeavors - he is just not very skilled in communication and relationships. Due to his job and his past Argider makes few long term attachments to people for the fear that one day he may not come back to them. He knows the pain of losing someone close to you and would never want to bear that burden onto someone else on his behalf. This is not to say that Argider cannot form a strong bond with someone - it just has yet to happen to him. He used to long for a relationship like the one his parents had but out of fear of the loss and pain it may cause Argider has distanced himself from getting too close. Argider is serious and intelligent when it comes to his profession. Nothing would dare stand in his way and he is not to be taken lightly when it comes to tracking down those who are enemies to the pride. Argider is extremely focused and driven by motives that are very close to his heart. When his drive takes over Argider is not against taking extreme risks to complete his goals. He can occasionally become unpredictable when it comes to making decisions and often ends up in troublesome situations if they don't go his way.
When it comes to other lions there is no doubt that Argider tends to keep his distance. He has little to no attachments to others of his kind except the trackers and warriors that he works with on a daily basis. Argider is slow to warm up to others - if he warms up at all. He is more comfortable around females than males if he had to choose company. This is probably because he had a stronger attachment and feelings of love towards his mother than his father. Others who act like him are those he would be more comfortable spending his time around. Loud, obnoxious, cocky lions get under his skin - that was who he used to be and he would rather forget that side of himself. He dislikes others who pick a fight and he himself only does so if he has no other choice. It is obvious that Argider would prefer those who are calm and considerate to him and his past. Argider has a great deal of respect to the elders and would serve them regardless, even if they were not the type he would normally choose to be around. Argider also has the utmost reverence in the alpha. His parents and he himself served under Aeon and would serve for any alpha even if he had to die to do it. It is the duty of his family and something close to his heart. As for cubs, Argider is indifferent. He remembers what it is like to be a cub growing up in the times of struggle and war so he feels deeply for them and their safety. Would he choose to actively be around them? Most likely not. Cubs are wild and ambitious - they can sometimes get out of hand and test his patience. Argider would protect them, absolutely, but have some of his own? Unlikely. He can hardly care for other lions let alone form a strong bond enough to have a mate and children. Still, Argider has a strong sense of family ties and family bonds. He yearns for that feeling again but has lost the hope and will to seek it.
In regards to his past and history, Argider is extremely reserved and secretive. It is no secret at this point what happened to his parents but to this day he still feels a great deal of responsibility and guilt for what happened that day. If the topic is brought up, Argider can become very defensive and sensitive to the subject - therefore he avoids it at all costs. It haunts him every day but he keeps his struggles internal as to not burden others. He abandons his cool and collected exterior when the memories are brought up because it takes him to a vulnerable place in his past. It goes to show that no matter how hard he tries Argider cannot run from the feelings of the past. They will always catch up to him in the end. It is uncertain if he will ever abandon the idea of seclusion from relationships. Deep down he knows that his parents would want him to move on and not focus on things of the past that can not be changed - maybe one day he will come to terms with the notion and find that person to show him how important feelings can be.
History:
Argider was born before the civil war began. As a child growing up in the pride, Argider was not hidden away from the struggle that was ready to break out at any second. He was raised in the upbringing of darkness and destruction - when the world was nearing its peak of disagreements and gloom. What would have been a happy childhood otherwise was instead full of hardship and war. Argider tried to make the best of his childhood but actually spent his time training at a young age. Argider was the son of two trackers in the pride. His mother, Estelle, and his father, Yurick, were a team - a dastardly duo - who's job for the pride was to go into the dangerous enemy territory to recover missing lions and aid the warriors in the capture of traitors to the Traditionalists. Argider was raised with great pride in his parent's job and had no greater aspiration than to follow in their footsteps and bring them joy after their retirement. To carry on the family legacy was a lifelong goal to Argider and one that at times felt unobtainable. He worked under his parents and the other trackers in the pride as a novice in the hopes of learning the ropes and to make his parents proud. From an early age he was always learning from them and began going out onto tracking missions earlier than expected. It was not until he was a full grown adult that he was able to break free from the training and accompany his parents on missions as an official tracker. The most scarring mission he had ever set on with his parents - the one that changed his life forever - would be one that would haunt him for the rest of his life. Argider accompanied his parents and a group of warriors in search of the infamous Hyperion, traitor to the pride and to the Alpha Aeon, who had escaped after an attempt on Aeon's life. Hyperion had wished to spread his darkness to the pride and take over - something Argider's parents would never let see the light of day. As a young lion, Argider felt a sense of unease and duty to be chosen so young to help on this mission. It seemed impossible, daring even, to try and bring Hyperion to justice. As they set on, Argider had the most uncanny feeling that something would go wrong. Those feelings of unease and worry began to creep in. Hyperion would make sure of that - there was no way he would go down without a fight.
"I had a heavy burden on my shoulders as a child. Looking back on it now I would give anything for it to come back. The responsibility is much greater now - people depend on me and I will not let them down. Back then I had a responsibility to prove myself and that caused me much fear and grief. I had to be the son that they deserved. Would I be good enough? Would I be good enough to be called their son and follow in their footsteps? Their motivation and determination guided me and molded me into the lion I am today. I just wish I knew now what I knew then. Maybe that way things would be different for me in the present."
The time spent tracking down Hyperion consumed their lives. Argider, Estelle, and Yurick spent most of their days in multiple attempts to bring him to justice - all to no avail. When all seemed hopeless - like they would never catch him - they caught a break. The warriors had a sighting of him and the minute of learning of this information the family was on the move. A great battle ensued for what seemed like an eternity. Much blood would be shed that day if Hyperion had any say in it. Warriors were fighting him at every opportunity but his darkness was so great it consumed him with enough anger and fury to take down an entire army. Ardiger had never been so scared in his life - a feeling that he now tries to forget - and was consumed with so much fear he wanted to run. Seeing his family fight however gave him the strength to fight alongside them. His parents were a team and their goal was to get their son out alive. However, Hyperion was more powerful than they were. With uncanny easy he simply swiped them aside in his attempt to escape. Seeing his parents in pain overcame Argider with a feeling of anger and hatred - he wanted to protect them like they protected Argider. Argider, immature and reckless, took a leap of faith and attacked Hyperion head on. He had to prove to his parents that he had what it takes to continue on in their name. It was more pride than anything - reckless, dumb pride. That would have been a fatal mistake if it were not for his mother. Argider was beaten to the side like a ragdoll - a weakling. He was no match for Hyperion. How could he be? The scene played out in slow motion before his eyes. Argider, broken and bleeding on the ground - covered in scars from the dark lion - staring up at Hyperion waiting for the finishing blow. Out of nowhere, Estelle rushed and charged at Hyperion - a move that would prove fatal for her. She fought as long as she could until her final breath left her body. Argider could do nothing but lay there, limp and dying, simply watching his mother fight to let him have a chance at life. His father Yurick faced the same fate as his mate. In a fury and rage at the loss of Estelle, Yurick used his last strength giving the warriors their chance to strike and capture Hyperion.
"I - I was not strong enough… I never will be. My reckless actions cost them their lives…for me. Was it all worth it in the end? To have such undying love for someone that you would risk your lives - lose your lives - to protect them? Will I ever be able to understand that feeling? Sometimes I don't think I will. No - I never can. I would never let anyone I care about feel the same loss that I did that day. So… I can never care for someone that way. This job is too dangerous - too risky. You never know if you will come back. To put such struggle on someone's shoulders is something I could never do. I will not let anyone else suffer because of me."
That final moment was all Argider needed for him to understand how much feelings could hurt you in the end. He was consumed with so much hatred and anger at both Hyperion and his parents for the death of the only two people in his life that meant something to him. From that moment on, Argider would work until his last breath to continue on his parents legacy - feelings would no longer get in the way of his success. Nor would he have anyone else face the same fate and loss he did that day on account of him. Argider makes few, if any, attachments to anyone but his job. Loss is a difficult burden to bare. Argider left that day an orphan, parentless and alone. He did not even have the comfort of speaking to them in the lake of eternity for their bodies would lay in that spot forever. Argider was brought back to the pack to be treated by the healers, consumed by the ever growing feeling of loneliness. Hyperion was later sent to the prison planet where he would be left to spend the rest of his days for his treachery. That is - until he escaped. By then, Argider was a skilled tracker who had turned into a grown male who was dedicated to his craft. Upon hearing the news, Argider knew that it was his duty to finish the mission that his parents started. To this day, Argider searches for him along with the others who opposed the pride and began the war. Argider lived every day since then with a reminder of that terrible moment in the form of the scars still left by Hyperion on his body. An everyday reminder that there was unfinished business to attend to. Business that he would put an end to - even if it cost him his life.
They risked their lives to save mine. I wonder if it was even worth it. Was it worth losing two of the best influences to my life and the trackers... for an impulsive child who knew no better? I long to talk to them in the lake of eternity however their bodies were lost to the wild. Even that small comfort was taken away from me. He took everything from me - and I will have my revenge.
I swear on my parent's lives that I will bring him and all the others to justice. It is my job. It is my duty. I owe that much to my parents and all of those whose lives were lost. I can never repay them for all that they have done for me. Do I even deserve it? Was their sacrifice simply just a waste? No… I will not let it be a waste. I will not let their death be in vain. Hyperion will pay for what he did to me - to us, the pride. He won't even see it coming...
(I have permission from NARANDA to use Hyperion in my form.)
