Surprise me <3
what's one challenge that s/he's had to face?
Scar cannot seem to find a permanent home. Though she tries her best to fit in, she usually ends up being sent back to the auction house after a few weeks at a ranch. So far, she has been in six different homes.

Home Number 1
From the auction house, she was purchased by the owner of a small holding. The man only owned one horse, and the idea was that Scar would become the stallion's mate and produce some foals, all while competing as a reining horse. When she arrived at the small holding, the stallion seemed welcoming at first. But after a few days, the stallion's controlling personality became apparent, and Scar wanted nothing to do with him. It ended with the two Tolters getting into a physical fight. During which, Scar got the scar on her nose that earned her her call name, but not before she bit off half of the stallion's left ear and cut his chest. Back to the auction house she went.

Home Number 2
With a new reputation as a fighter, she was purchased by a somewhat shady individual who took her back to a rundown ranch with a few skinny horses. There, she was made to fight a few times, earning more scars and dishing out nasty injuries to her opponents. She only managed to escape this torturous life when the local humane society intervened and seized all of the horses.
She spent a few weeks at the humane society, gaining back the weight she had lost and letting her numerous wounds heal. It was nice there, but she knew it wouldn't last.
Image
Home Number 3
She was adopted by an older couple, looking for a companion, but also a horse that would be something of a challenge. Scar seemed to fit the bill perfectly, and she was taken back to their cattle ranch. Life was good for a while; there were a few other horses to socialize with, and a large herd of longhorn cattle to practice reining with.
After 3 months, the old lady of the ranch suddenly died. There were no farmhands working on the farm, and the old man found that he could not take care of all of these animals by himself. The horses were the first to go, and Scar found herself looking for a home once more.

Home Number 4
Bought by an international ranch, she was shipped to Spain. There, she had to learn new commands not only in English, but also in Spanish. She caught on quickly, however, and was soon employed in the bull fighting ring. Quick witted and even quicker on her feet, she was able to dodge every blow the bulls threw at her. Plus, she could also take a hit, and even when one bull caught her in the leg with its horn, she just kept right on going.
At the age of 10 years, it was decided she should retire. She was sent away to another ranch to help train some of the younger horses, but she found that she could not get along with them. It got so bad that she was once again sent back to the auction house.

Home Number 5
For a while, no one would buy her. She ended up as property of the auction company, which at some point switched locations from Spain to Scotland. There, her history as a reining horse was brought up, and she was bought right away by a lady who flipped horses. She thoroughly enjoyed the training she went through, even if it was a little intense. By the age of 15, she had made a name for herself as one of the best reining Tolters in all of Britain. Satisfied, the lady sold her on.

Home Number 6
At the age of 22, she was purchased by Shadow Cove Horse Ranch. She wasn't really used to such a large amount of horses, and it took a long time for her to truly settle down. Within a year, however, she was a fully accepted member of the herd. She was also the best reining horse on the ranch, and it earned her a kind of superiority with the other horses.
She never lost her ability to fight, and got into a few physical confrontations with some of the younger stallions when she first arrived. She expected to be sold again, but instead was grouped with some calmer horses, in the hopes that it would teach her some patience. The plan worked, and it has been 2 years since her last serious fight.

based on the Colorado state flag, but feel free to get creative!
what's one challenge that she's had to face?
She glanced at the crowd nervously, her bright green eyes scared, her breathing hard, a few little trickles of sweat rolling from her brow down her cheek. People. Too many of them. She gave a scared, pitiful nicker to Charlie, let her know that she was scared. The female loosened Native's reins, leaned down, whispered encouragement in her ear, stroked a loving hand over the mare's red pelt. "Native, darling, you're okay. Everything is going to be perfectly fine, you've just gotta calm your breathing, gentle little puffs, there we go baby," she murmured, taking two cotton puffs from her breeches pocket, slipping them into the red ears, caressing and gentle with her fingers. Native let out a surprised little sound - the crowd's nose was dulled. That was much better, she thought as she stepped forward, and Charlie slid the reins into her hands. Her body shook slightly as a roar came from the gathered people, and she pinned her ears back just the slightest. But then she saw the jump course - oh, how she loved those jumps! She forced herself to block out the noise, the people, everything but Charlie's subtle movements and the rush of excitement as she leaped over that first oxer, and she found herself thinking. This isn't all so bad.

what's one challenge that s/he's had to face? He's an endurance race horse, and has run in hundreds of races descpite his smaller size. His biggest challenge was running a race in the Arabian desert, far away from home or anything he's ever known in harsh deadly conditions. He didn't win, but on a dangerous course through the desert where some horse and rider teams don't survive, finishing the race against all odds was a perfect win for him.

what's one challenge that s/he's had to face? Griffith has had to face the loss of a loved one at a very young age. His mother, a work horse, had collapsed on the job while plowing a field. When she wouldn't- couldn't- stand, it had been advised to let her go. Since then, Griffith has had difficulties in building strong relationships with anybody. He's afraid to be hurt again, so he tends to shut others out. It's a problem he still faces to this day, and is working hard to overcome.

Beaumont Collies || Suzzallo Kennels

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
- Wild Geese, Mary Oliver
