personality: Smokey is a quiet and tame tolter most of the time, but he does get bouts of energy when he's kept in his stall for too long. When he's release to pasture, he lets out all of his energy, bucking, rearing, and galloping down the fence line as fast as he can possibly go. Once this is done, he usually returns to his normal quiet self, contently grazing under the shade of a tree. Smokey really enjoys going out for trail rides and once he's got a bridle on, he's all business and very well behaved. He does get very excited around jumps so an experienced hand is needed with him. He also prefers to be second in the riding group. Never first, he doesn't like to be the leader, he likes to see another horse in front of him, but doesn't like to be at the end either.

personality: She's brave. Anne has always been brave, and described as courageous, because there's nothing else for her to be. She plays a poker face of determination to hide how terrified she is of change, of messing up or of things going badly. Even when all seems lost and she's trembling with fear, or sadness, or anger, she keeps a stiff upper lip and powers through it. It's because it's all she knows how to do - ever since she was a foal she had to face things this way. Anne's poker face and determination is also a drawback. Those who know her and are concerned for her have a hard time getting her to open up about her problems. Anne is totally oblivious to this, and thinks she is keeping them close. When asked how she is, her fallback is 'I'm fine'. Any further probing or prodding will only get a head shake or a 'No, really, I'm fine'. Anne often feels alone, but has difficulty drawing the connection between her being closed off and the aching feeling of isolation. She likes to be around others but worries that if she says too much she will be burdening them. When with her friends she loves to play. From rough-housing to prancing and even, with some, playing pretend. She unfolds from her quiet looks and distant eyes to a smiling energetic mare, one who loves to play and has witty comebacks and can share embarrassing stories about that one carrot too many or accidentally throwing a rider. Anne is very quiet otherwise, and it takes time to get her to open up. Sometimes, without warning, she shuts down and cannot make conversation or respond, but stares blankly ahead. It is then she is at her worst and has held too much inside for too long. It can taker anywhere from a few seconds to hours for her to come out of it. He is good at organisation and likes everything ship shape and orderly. River enjoys dressage and has mastered all the difficult moves with his persevering nature. River can get snappy and harsh at times but he does it for the best. He is incredibly patient but very hotheaded. He is a challenging horse to work with and doesn't trust easily. River can be extremely bossy and rude at time but once he's finished yelling instructions at people, the thing he was achieving will be done to almost perfection. He is a perfection freak and it is possible he has OCD. His stable is always neat and tidy along with his rugs and tack. River is very careful and loves to look his best and be nice and clean.

personality: This old girl is set in her ways, and will only change her mind when the sun stops rising. She is as stubborn as a mule, and as such can be a nightmare to get along with. She prefers to hang out with older horses, as she despises children with every part of her being. That's probably the reason that she doesn't have any, despite being almost 35 years old.
In her prime, she was one heck of a barrel racer, almost unbeatable in the ring. And she hasn't forgotten it. She'll bring it up whenever someone questions her ability or skill. As an old lady, she has many old lady hobbies. These include: polishing/tidying her many awards, decorating her stall, going for long walks alone, and people watching.
She's also very interested in old lady fashion. Silk scarves, knitted sweaters, and flowery hats fill her wardrobe. She has as favourite hat that she wears often, if not all the time. Hand made by a prestigious hat maker, it is a wicker hat decorated with a variety of blue flowers and grey feathers.
This mare will never, ever be a babysitter. If she was a person, she would be the kind of old lady that would not give you your ball back if you kicked it over the fence. She spends more time yelling at foals than anything else. She has absolutely no plans to ever start a family, and it will probably stay that way forever.
The only things she ever has patience with are the wild birds that populate the ranch. Despite how tidy and neat she usually is, she has let a family of swallows build a nest in her stall, right above the door. She spends a great deal of time talking with them about various things, and when the eggs hatch she hopes to be able to help teach the young swallows how to fly.
