Greetings! I'm Silica, and this is my introduction essay. I find the brief strange, but I am quite self-aware of my many habits, so I'll tell you about them. I hope you enjoy!

I have an exceptional memory. And I'm not saying that to brag... I really do hate this trait at times.
What I do love, is that I can learn complicated things, often after one exposure. I go out of my way to find cool or intresting advert and like reciting them at appropriate times. Two favourites are the fit bit advert, the oreo wonderfilled advert.
And now onto my hyperthymesia. Most see it as a gift for me to so vividly remember my past, but I think otherwise. I often have to occupy my mind so I don't think about certain days... And it isn't always easy. I guess the good thing is I can remember when my essay is due?



I don't have any vision problems. But I am afraid of guns. The glasses I wear are made of NXT Polymer, which can withstand the impact of a bullet. And while they were expensive, they make me feel safer.
I hate thinking about what happened, so I won't explain in detail. I was only 10 when I helped out an injured deer, and then watched his return into his herd. And on that day, they were all shot. The hunter accidentally shot me as I snuck away- thinking I was game. And while it may not seem like much to you, to have to relive the scene again at certain triggers is painful.



At 12 did my passion turn from Animals to the stars. It wasn't intentional, but after being given a constellation book for a present, I assume it was fate. The book was poorly written, and the only constellation it thoroughly explained the location of was Lyra. And it was from this one constellation that my love for both stars and harps were born!
I'd really love to become and astronomer when I'm older- hence why I'm doing this course in the first place! Hopefully someday I'll be able to have a star named after myself; Silicaii.



Just so you know, I'm an Aquarius. Since I want to be an astronomer, naturally I've taken an interest in the western Zodiac. I try to pick and choose my friends according to the stars, so my best matches are Gemini and Libra. This may seem absurd to some, but it has worked for me so far.

While this seems a odd, I love all sorts of textures. Whether it be rubbing my feet over carpet, or eating strange things like chalk. Why? Who knows. I also love running my paws through my tail fluff and don't often brush it, so I have knots and tangles to play with when bored or stressed.

Unique traits:

Lime is completely deaf. She lost her hearing at the age of five, when she contracted a virus. There were a few unexpected complications, and it left the child unable to hear anything. By then, Lime was able to speak English fluently and understand the majority of words. She is able to lip read simple words, but learning American sign language was a must. Lime realized that her preferred name at the time, Quinn, was simply too hard to lip read and there was no direct translation into ASL. So, she decided to go by her middle name. Lime not only has it's own sign, but it is far easier to lip read. By now, she has embraced her differences and is proud of herself.

Personality:

Lime is an interesting girl. At first, she is quite quiet, only speaking when she must due to the fact that she is scared she will mess up. Yet, her close friends know better. Lime is filled to the brim with determination and willpower. She is one to take on a challenge without a second thought, often taking risks that endanger her. She is fun loving, always one laughing at jokes and solving riddles. Lime acts as an inspiration, or at least she would love to be one.

Relations:

Lime is very close with everybody in her family, but the three that really stand out to her are her parents and Mirano.

-----Panna Cotta and Lime have always been and will always be very close. She was the one who encouraged Lime to never give up, that losing her hearing wasn't the end. Panna Cotta was with Lime every step of the way, taking classes to learn ASL with her, being a translator for those who can't communicate with her, and making sure that Lime is safe wherever her adventures may take her.

-----Uranium and Lime have a unique relationship. Uranium is her rock, someone she can confide in and trust. He has taught her that silence is a great thing, and that a book can provide all the noise she will ever need. They both share a certain quietness and curiosity that they can bond over. Uranium is also the one Lime goes to whenever she has a problem, he is not only a mentor but a friend.

-----Mirano is a huge influence in Lime's life. They both have disabilities, and although Mir does have his difficulties with ASL they find their ways around it. Lime often views Mir as a mentor, and she credits him as the one who helped her gain her determination and confidence back. They share common traits, such as their curiosity and recklessness. He is her guardian, the one who understands how she thinks the best. Lime and Mirano are inseparable.

Personality:
Xiara is a bean who takes a lot of things seriously, and as a result is quite gullible. Sometimes,
she can unintentionally come across as a bit rude or sarcastic. This is punctuated by the fact
that she doesn't see the use in 'sugar-coating' things - tell it like it is, or don't tell it at all. To
her, the world seems like it's black and white - You're either this, or that. But grey? Xiara
doesn't know what to do with grey. She prefers not to talk with others or actively participate,
and rather to simply observe and watch what's going on. If someone bothers her, or doesn't pay
attention when she needs something from them, she is extremely quick to rage, but otherwise,
she tends to be a relatively understanding bean. When someone else is doing something, she
usually tries to get their attention politely, but if that fails, she's not going to stop there. She
also likes to read rather than draw or write something herself to calm down, and has quite an
extensive vocabulary. Her personal favorite philosophy/tumblr post is "Unique traits don't
exist .Even if you're one in a million, there are 7,125 people exactly like you. We are coming for
you. We are legion." Okay, so that last part is a bit off, but the sentiment remains.

Tobias [Brother]
Tobias is one of the few beans that Xiara actually gets along with. They sort of have a mutual
understanding going on - You don't bother me, I won't bother you.
Uranium [Dad]
He's pretty cool most of the time. He can be a huge dork, though. Sometimes, when he's reading,
she'll curl up next to him and pull out whatever book she's reading at the moment. There has
been many a time where Xiara has pulled out the entire works of William Shakespeare from
seemingly nowhere, to Uranium's surprise.
Panna Cotta [Mom]
If Xiara has something bottled up that she just really needs to tell someone, Panna Cotta is the
first bean Xiara will go to. She trusts her completely, and if there's something she absolutely
needs to talk about, then she'll go straight to Panna.
Sigma [Friend]
He's... Okay. A bit silly for Xiara's tastes, but otherwise, he's fine. They don't talk much,
but when they do, they talk a bit - barely enough that they are considered friends by Xiara.
Sigma, however, considers them 'best friends' - just one of a select list of things that gets on
Xiara's nerves. Maybe, if they got to know each other a bit more, Xiara could even open up
to him. For now, however? No, he's just officially that guy.
