personality: This old girl is set in her ways, and will only change her mind when the sun stops rising. She is as stubborn as a mule, and as such can be a nightmare to get along with. She prefers to hang out with older horses, as she despises children with every part of her being. That's probably the reason that she doesn't have any, despite being almost 35 years old.
In her prime, she was one heck of a barrel racer, almost unbeatable in the ring. And she hasn't forgotten it. She'll bring it up whenever someone questions her ability or skill. As an old lady, she has many old lady hobbies. These include: polishing/tidying her many awards, decorating her stall, going for long walks alone, and people watching.
She's also very interested in old lady fashion. Silk scarves, knitted sweaters, and flowery hats fill her wardrobe. She has as favourite hat that she wears often, if not all the time. Hand made by a prestigious hat maker, it is a wicker hat decorated with a variety of blue flowers and grey feathers.
This mare will never, ever be a babysitter. If she was a person, she would be the kind of old lady that would not give you your ball back if you kicked it over the fence. She spends more time yelling at foals than anything else. She has absolutely no plans to ever start a family, and it will probably stay that way forever.
The only things she ever has patience with are the wild birds that populate the ranch. Despite how tidy and neat she usually is, she has let a family of swallows build a nest in her stall, right above the door. She spends a great deal of time talking with them about various things, and when the eggs hatch she hopes to be able to help teach the young swallows how to fly.

personality: Much like his name, which was taken from the saying 'fortune favors the bold', this stallion is afraid of nothing. There are stories from his wild days of him standing up to wild cats, rattle snakes, anything that threatened his herd. That being said, he's also a natural-born leader, and has extreme issues with others challenging his authority. He can definitely be too bold, never backing down from a confrontation. He's not the most... love-y stallion, but fiercely protective, even overly so.

Calma's show name comes from her view on life. Her whole world has been flipped upside down, yet she continues to go on, not changing her personality too much. The past is in the past, and but she keeps on moving. Her barn name came from the Spanish word for calm. Calma isn't always calm though. We think she was a lead mare in her herd when she was in the wild. She seems to have much experience with foals; however, some of our mother mares aren't too much of a fan of her. For the very nurturing mares(and stallions), Calma isn't a favorite. She's defiantly rough and hard on the foals, always putting them in their place when they do the simplest things wrong. It's also not rare to find Calma showing dominance over the other mares as well, such as when eating or leading where to go when some horses aren't brave enough. And she's smart enough to know how to gain that, too. Calma isn't scared of anything, especially fighting for something, mainly dominance. We always hear Calma when she's with the other horses, as she's very vocal, which only help her be more dominate. We've even noticed a difference in our horses with the addiction of a few once wild horses, they seem to have a bit more spirit, and while Calma hasn't ended that, she's defiantly going back to the dominance parts of living in the wild though, such as her always competing for dominance. Now, dominance is more of a fight in the herd as it wasn't so much before. However, Calma isn't all bad. What we call her when she's not behaving is her way of living as she did in the wild. When we got her, we were told she was very calm, and she is, but only by herself. Calma is calm and collected all the time(when she's alone), always ready for what we tell her. Just, some of the time she decides not to listen. However, we don't ride her as often as some of the other horses, since she still needs more training. Especially work on her ground manners. It's for this reason that Calma is found in her stall in one of the smaller paddocks by herself more often than in the large one. Either way, we don't think we will be able to change her completely, but Calma is defiantly a great addition to our herd!
