What is a Makoatl?
A Makoatl is a terrestrial shark-dragon hybrid recently discovered
off the coast of the Greenland sea. They have the powerful tail
and jaws of a shark, with the body and (occasional) horns of a dragon.
They usually have manes, and are covered in thick coats of fur-
adapted to keeping out the cold in their native habitat.
They live on a diet of mainly meat and fish, and are known to be vicious
hunters! Despite this attitude toward their prey, however, they
are very protective and mothering to their offspring,
as well as to each other the majority of the time.
Transparent versionAnother "Hey this happened" kinda mako. It would've been for a store batch, but I decided to put this up for Adopt because....uh actually I have no real reason *sweats*.
Writing contest because I'm interested in how people can develop this babe. I kinda saw them as some sort of mentor or teacher, but I'm happy to see different views~ Prettying up is encouraged, but extras are not ;v; Ends on the 14th @5 PM EST- Code: Select all

♥ Name: Lazuli
♥ Gender: Cisgender Female
♥ Personality (250 words max):
Lazuli is a passionate and knowledgable Makoatl, knowing quite a bit about world history, and strives to learn more about it every day. She enjoys sharing this passion with anyone she can, by throwing out random facts or telling jokes that have to do with history... Usually the jokes end up with blank stares, much to her dismay. She takes strong belief in the quote; "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it," partially why she researches history so intensely. In fear of repeating a terrible mistake.
Lazuli likes her independence and prefers not to lean too heavily on others. Even if she's in a desperate situation, showing how stubborn she is. She is curious and adventurous, sticking her nose into anything she can. Whether it be urging Makoatls of different cultures to tell her their favorite pieces of folklore or asking for the stories of their past. As you can tell, she loves to travel. She never sticks around home for too long, because before you know it, she leaps back into her travels.
Another strong trait is Lazuli's patience, skills in comforting, and her ability to negotiate. She is able to remain calm in the most toxic situations, and is able to calm tensions down. Lazuli has gained the ability to remain neutral, negotiate her way into settling both parties down, and remaining patient when the hostility is at its highest. In result, she makes an excellent leader figure when one is needed most.

♥ Writing Piece (560 Words Max):
With every gentle breeze that relieved Lazuli of the African Savanna heat, dust flew around her paws. Her paw pads, not yet adapted to the rough terrain, felt gross and gritty, and were covered in scrapes. The locals would playfully mock her for her "high maintenance." Lucky for her they showed her plenty of hospitality whenever she came to visit the village. Allowing her into their handmade huts, cooking her meals, giving her water, and occasionally would push aside some time to show her around the Savannah to examine the wildlife. In return, she'd volunteer to help them with every day life- weaving, harvesting, keeping the children busy to keep them out of their mothers' hair, and learning to hunt their way. There indeed was a language barrier, and it was tedious to have the translator mediate the conversation, but facial expression said it all. They were her friends.
In the beginning Lazuli went there expecting to see weary eyes, sunken faces, and people dying. It took her by surprise to see the opposite- grinning faces, playing children, and women contently working away on clothing or baskets. They told me they thrived on the little things they had, and that the only predators they feared were nature. They were too isolated to have to worry about the country's corruption, illegal trades, and intense violence. All was peaceful with them, but they were well-aware of the issues in the rest of the country. A few had escaped those places in desperation for peace, and had enough luck to stumble across this place.
Never had she been so close with the locals whenever she traveled. Never had she felt so welcomed into a foreign place. Never had she worked so hard to help another person out, let alone an entire village. It was a solemn day when she had to leave her newfound friends, who treated her like she was family from day one, but she could go home feeling satisfied. Every drop of her blood, sweat, and tears that dripped onto the sandy Savanna earth was well-worth the incredible experience. It was a story that she planned to tell the rest of her life.
