Overview and History

The origin of this particular species is unknown. It is guess that it was the iqena who sparked the mythos of unicorns, pegasus, kirin, and hundreds more that have become legend. Thousands of years of speculation and wonder have led to the constant search of this elusive species.

Iqena are commonly friendly towards any creature of any world. Their peaceful souls only adding to the mystery of their vast variations. Even the youngest of iqena are clueless to their biological origin. Some say that they are born from the mind, much like the goddess Athena.

Literature. It makes up my whole life, really. I'm always scribbling down words on paper, all day, everyday; or, at least a majority of the day, it seems. Otherwise, I'm reading, thinking, or cleaning; If dusting was considered a talent, I'd be considered a professional, I assure you. I would take walks or fly to places, but my missing leg interferes with such activities; when walking, I limp, and when flying, I loose control easily thanks to imbalance. Perhaps that's why I write for hours upon hours everyday; it's my escape from reality. A world so mysteriously perfect, but imperfect at the same time; a world I often get lost in, quite literally, considering I live in a book housed on the shelves of a medieval library. Often, other Iquena will visit me, wanting to hear my many stories. I'll happily read them if asked politely; I enjoy seeing others' reactions to my tales. Some days, I make extra copies of my stories, and trade them for other unique items at the nearby trading post; a truly marvelous place, if I do say so myself. My nights are spent either dreaming, or lost in deep thought; often I remember how I lost my leg. A rather... Embarrassing story involving an inattentive me and a paper cutter; not a pleasant memory. Anyway... I also prepare for the coming day by arranging a schedule before I lay to rest, including every event and possible outcome; I want to be ready for anything.

The day began and Pazel woke up from his slumber. Sleepily he arose, losing his balance and nearly falling down again. "Not again" Pazel mumbled grumpily as he got up again and stood on his three shaky legs, trying to find his balance. Ever since he lost his leg, Pazel has had to find his balance every time he stood up. He’d gotten used to it, but it still annoyed him sometimes. It didn't help that most of the mine he lived in was pitch-black and that the floor was very uneven. Using his senses to figure out his position, Pazel squirmed through the narrow corridors that led to a cavern with many holes. Where will I explore today? Pazel pondered excitedly.

Pazel spends his life exploring the mine, going everywhere he can. Since the mine is so big, Pazel relocates his den everytime he has the chance, but as a result, he is often unfamiliar with his surroundings. Pazel forages atop the mine, where vegetation grows. He gets there through gaps in the walls, but it often takes time to get there. After eating, he will immediately head back down, eager to explore more. In this mine, Pazel never knows what will happen next. This is why Pazel chose the mine as his domain, the mystery of the unknown intrigues him endlessly. After exploring for the rest of the day, Pazel will carefully retrace his steps and plop down on his bed, satisfied with yet another day well spent.

Why did I choose this domain?


It has been said that great warriors who fall in battle will have their spirit guided to Valhalla and be celebrated until the end of time. If they are tainted, or died a coward’s death, they will instead go to Helheim where they will know only shame and suffering for the rest of eternity. Warriors who fall with unfinished business, however, become trapped in The Realm Between. They refuse to pass on, whether it’s because they are undeserving of Helheim, yet are not worthy of entering Valhalla or whether they were unjustly murdered, etc… it is Liuvikas’ role to guide them.

She aids their spirits in seeking out eternal rest. It is not uncommon for her to give them tasks to aid the living, though she warns them that they have a short time to prove themselves worthy of Valhalla and unless they are pure of heart they will be dragged into Helheim by demons if they do not hurry. Before she came to this realm many who ended up here were lost and confused. Without guidance almost all of them were forced into Helheim where countless suffered and the living in Middle Earth could not feel the strength from their ancestors to help them through hard times.

Liuvikas’ days are stressful, however she feels that if she can save these mortals, she can save herself. She empathizes and relates far too closely with these mortals. So far, she has guided many to Valhalla.
