{340/350 words}
Eris, currently age eight, was orphaned at age six during a terrible storm, and was adopted recently by Sylvia and Eustace. It was mostly Sylvia's decision, though Eustace helped a bit, since she wanted a child to take care of, and they were so far unable to have one of their own. Eris absolutely loves her new mom, though she wishes that she were a little more talkative since Eris much prefers listening to talking.
When Sylvia stays up late, going on walks and writing stories, Eris enjoys staying with her mom and listening to the stories that she comes up with. This is also a time where Eris can pour out her problems of the day, and get her confused mind all sorted out with help from her mom. Sylvia and Eris will also work on her homework together, though Sylvia often comes up with stories that she must get down on paper before she forgets. This only happens two or three times a week, though, since Eris is still pretty young, and needs to get her sleep.
Sylvia likes to "baby" Eris, and depending on the situation, this either annoys Eris, or makes her feel better. When she's out in public, Eris likes to play the role of the independent orphan, the one who has found her family, and is strong on her own, so when Sylvia babies her out in public, she gets rather annoyed, but does her best to let her mom feel appreciated, even when she's a bit annoyed. When their at home and alone, however, Eris allows herself to relax, and feels comforted when Sylvia babies her, and enjoys feeling cared for and protected after two years of being in an orphanage.
Eris and Sylvia have a really good relationship, and enjoy spending time together, even if Sylvia is generally tired during the day, being semi-nocturnal, and if Eris doesn't always like to talk, and has an odd habit of appearing stronger than she really is in public then at home with her mom.

{350/350 words}
Eris and Eustace have a bit of a hard time being with each other. Perhaps it's the knowledge that Eustace maybe didn't care so much, and left the adoption decision up to his wife Sylvia, or maybe it's just Eustace's distance from the world. It's rather hard to tell, really. However, since Eustace is Eris's dad, she decided that she needed to call him something other than Eustace, and so calls him "Dad-stace".
Eustace does his best to raise Eris the way he was raised, with books and board games rather than movies and video games. And it seems to be working somewhat. Eris doesn't ask as much to play a video game, and instead asks for someone to play a board game with her. Sylvia's the one who will play with her usually, since Eustace is usually running the book store, and Eris doesn't have many friends her age. However, Eustace will play with Eris when he's home and available, and it helps the pair bond together a bit more then they would otherwise.
While Eris normally will try not to hang with her dad as much as her mom, on quiet Saturdays when Eustace is reading a book, Eris will sometimes pick up a book or two, and sit next to him and quietly read. Eustace doesn't seem to mind this, and the pair will sometimes exchange a word or two about the book they are reading. Eustace seems to care a bit about Eris, and will often pick up a book or two for her from his book shop for her to read. She makes it a point to read the books, even if she doesn't like them as much, since they were a gift from her dad, and something to be treasured.
Eris spends a bit of time each day talking to her dad, just to let him know what's going on in her life that he might want to be involved in. He has a few opinions on what goes on in her life, and will help take care of her the best he can.
