Is 698 words okay? ;3;
" Chirp?~ " The cold, lonely Viscling sat near a dark, empty nest, set in a cave, far, far from any other Viscets. The cave was so dark, that the Viscling could see nothing, and stumbled away from the slightly-warmer nest, that hadn't been touched for days. The young Viscet was very hungry, and was only thriving on a small puddle of water, created from a stalactite hanging above. The Viscling sat, waiting to be rescued, but no one had even dared to enter the cave. The Viscling chirped again, his voice getting softer and softer, but slightly rougher due to thirst and hunger. He curls up, his tail wrapped around to his face, and closes his eyes, wishing to finally be saved. As he starts to drift off to sleep, he hears... pawsteps? As the steps get closer, he starts to hear whispers and murmurs, getting louder, and louder....
" Cameras, check. Lunch, check. Books, check. Helmet, check. Lights, check.... " The voice kept getting louder and clearer, until he looked up and started to see a light. A small, but bright light. As the light grew bigger, he saw a shadow. A shadow of another Viscet. He tried to chirp, but he couldn't. He had no energy left. The light continued to grow, until he could see another Viscet walk into the large room-like clearing. The Viscet looked around, carrying lots of equipment, until she started walking to the middle of the room, where the nest was.
" What's this... a nest? " The unknown visitor asked to herself. She started to walk closer to the Viscling, her lights shining towards the floor, until she stopped and gasped.
" A... A Vi-viscling?? " She stuttered. She leaned closer to it, the shy baby hiding his face from the light. She picked him up, and held him close, warming him up.
" Is your mother here? " She asked, staring at the once-bright blue ball of fluff, nuzzled against her bright red fur. The Viscling sat in silence, taking in the heat, and then found himself speaking up with a dirty, raspy voice,
" I don't know. I'-I've been he-here alone f-forever.... "
" Has anyone been taking care of you, then, little guy? " She replied, with a soft, sweet voice.
" N-no.... " He nuzzled in closer to her, listening, taking in her heartbeat, as he has heard nothing other than his own, hopeless chirps and water dripping for weeks.
" Aw, poor guy.... " She sighed. " W-would you like to... Idunno... come home with me, so I can take care of you and find your parents? " The small ball of fur looked up into the larger Viscet's eyes, and nodded. He curled back up into her arms, as she started to exit the cave, forgetting about why she walked all the way down here in the first place.
" Do you have a name? " She asked, with the same soft voice she had before. " Are you hungry? "
" I-i don't think I have a name.... and I'm v-very hungry, yes.... " The large Viscet sat down, and took out her lunch for that afternoon.
" Here, try a bit of this. " She said, handing him a cherry-like fruit. He took it from her paws, and started to munch on it, devouring it quickly.
" That's good! " He piped up.
" Here, have some more, you must be starving! " She said, handing him a pawfull of the same berries, and a variety of some different nuts. He took everything from her paws and shoved the variety of foods into his mouth, and his eyes began to shine a bit more, as well as his mood.
" So, you don't have a name? Hm.... " She thought hard, and turned her head to a wall in the cave, and saw a cave painting of two dragons - a red one, and a blue one. " How about.... Fidi Thalassa? "
" What does that mean? " He asked, cheerfully.
" It means Sea Serpent, like it? "
" Y-yeah! I love it! " He said enthusiastically, nodding his head in delight.
" Alright then, Fidi, if you get hungrier on our trip out, let me know and we'll stop for a snack break. It's a bit of a long trip, so just make yourself comfy in my paws, alright? We'll be out soon...."
