I hope you guys are satisfied with my style for flea-bitten greys ;3;
a few things about the competition, it will end on the 20th of August, do not go over 500 words in each section, and finally, do not make the companion a natural predator or anything, just think nice and simple.

story about how they became friends;; Basest has always had a love for cats. When she first got to the barn she seemed to take a keen interest in our barn cats. She would follow around the older more wild barn cats and scare them half to death. They really didn't seem to be a fan of the mare. Anna seemed to take notice of this and the mares strange liking to cats. She had just gotten two new kittens which she had found abandoned in a cardboard box on the side of the road a few months before but was going to keep them in the house as house cats. At the time she thought keeping them inside was a good idea. Till Doc started making trouble. He got into everything and was always looking for a playmate since his sister Holiday didn't really take interest in him. So in an attempt to save her flowers and help keep the other barn cats happy Anna decided to bring the two Scottish fold mixes out to the barn. She introduced Doc and Basest and they seemed to bond right away. Doc loved running around her hooves and Basest loved watching him. Now the two are happily living together. Doc sleeps in Basest's stall with her and can even be found sleeping on her back from time to time.
story of an adventure they went on;; Doc is a troublesome little kitten. To the point where he had to have a bell put on his collar so you know where he is at all times. But the story about how he got the bell on his collar is a very detailed one involving him and Basest. WIP

Kindling Friendship ;
Their friendship started young, for the bird at least. Topanga’s stall was on the side of the stable where the door was, so birds often came and went in and out over top of her head. This did not bother her in the least however one brisk morning just shortly after the arrival of the warm months of spring, a mother Raven made her nest in the rafters above Topanga’s stall. She had four eggs and nested there till they hatched.
Topa didn’t mind the obnoxious squawking of the baby birds because it kept her company when she felt lonely. But one day when the youngsters were starting to get too big for the nest, one of the hatchlings got shoved from the nest and tumbled to the shaving covered floor of Topa’s stall. The little bird was hideous to say the least, only partially feathered and awkward moving. It sat there for a long time, stunned by its fall. Topa lowered her head so that the baby raven could scramble up her nose and onto her mane padded neck. It had looked so helpless and vulnerable on the floor that she couldn’t think of just leaving it there. So instead she reached up with her nose to a shelf higher up the wall where the little bird climbed off of her and rested till his mother came to feed him.
Several times over the final weeks of development when the babies started to learn to fly. Topa allowed the fallen baby to glide from its perch to her neck and back again. She grew very fond of the chick and would even share her oats with him when he was hungry. When winter came all of the other ravens left the stable to scavenge, But her raven did not. He liked the warmth of the stall and he liked the plentiful supply of oats that Topa willingly shared with him. They spent the entire winter together. When Tope let the now not so little raven ride on her shoulders he’d often prune her with his beak, he found all of her itchy spots.
Tope named him Heth, but expected him to one day leave her side and return to his family. But Heth had lost all of his raven social skills. When ever he left her side he was constantly being bombarded or harassed by other ravens because of his oddness. Topa hated seeing the friendly bird treated so poorly so she would try her best to defend him. He never strays far from her now and enjoys roosting above her stall at night.
An Adventure;
Topanga Hates being caged up, the only place she doesn’t mind being locked in is her stall. But outside in small corrals she gets agitated and unpleasant. Heth has discovered this and on one occasion in particular Heth decided to do something about it. He had watched the humans, learned how they wrap the chain around the gate. So he flopped down from Topa’s shoulders and gone to investigate the gate. He unlatched the chain that held the gate secure and both he and Topa stepped out onto the freedom of de-confinement.
Topa charged down the front lane, bucking in pleasure as she stretched her legs. Heth flew above her keeping close enough not to loose her but far enough to dip and dive, enjoying the feeling of the wind under his feathers. They went deep into the nearby forestry till they came to a creek that blocked their path. Topanga stopped to graze her and drink, she didn’t just want to run, the grass had always look far sweeter on the other side of the fence. She grazed quietly and watched Heth hop from stump to stump in search of larva and beetles.
It was all fun and games to the two of them. Heth filled himself full of insects and berries, while Topa grazed till she was plump. They carried on a ways sticking very close to one another, making sure not to loose track of one another. Heth was scraping around a fallen log when he herd a very interesting hum coming from inside. Heth being only 2 and lived in the stable for the majority of those two years was baffled by what could possibly make such a strange noise.
He called to Topa, expressing his wariness. His horsy companion came to his side and pawed at the log. What exploded from the log would send both of them running. Angry Wasps flooded from the log, the sound of their papery wings filled the air and they laid upon Topa with painful stings that sent her fleeing and quivering. Heth at first was unfazed. The furious insects could not sting him through his feather, till one managed to plant its stinger in the leathery skin of his leg. He squawked and took flight. Chasing after Topa till they reached the stable and safety.
Tope was littered with swollen lumps from here the wasps had stung her fortunately she had managed to get away before she was stung too many times for her body to handle. Heth spent hours fussing over her. Searching her speckled coat for any stingers that might have become in lodged in her skin. He felt terrible but both learned the hazards of the yellow and black stripped bugs.
