Writing piece [ 500 words or under]:Air was forced in and out of his mouth, his chest tight with anxiety. There was no guarantee this little plan would work, not even a guarantee that he could survive. A teenaged Makoatl followed just behind. She appeared so innocent, it was hard to believe it was her who wreaked havoc on the unsuspecting village last week. The robbing of everything valuable, and the murder of a young man. The villagers were strongly convinced that she was possessed by the devil. They insisted she be killed.
The girl caught up to his side, glancing up at the taller male.
"You seem worried about something." Hyde remarked, a questioning look spread across her face.
"I'm worried about vengeful animals roaming around here. I am a notorious hunter, after all." He gave a nervous laugh. Hyde was not convinced. One could only hope she would go along with everything, and be lead right into the trap.
Just ahead was a ring of gasoline, and if he's able to lead her right into the center, the villagers planned to set that ring on fire. The duo trekked down the hill, and eventually reached the planned destination. The smell of gasoline was covered with the scent of flowers and pine.
"This is where your friend promised to meet you." It hurt to manipulate her like this. The one Makoatl that was able to befriend Hyde had died of tuberculosis just a few months back, but she didn't know that.
Hyde looked around, but she didn't expect a ring of fire to trap her. A terrified shriek erupted from behind the towering flames, the tips lapping hungrily at the sky. Chills ran across Kindle's spine, every hair on his body beginning to raise. He sucked in a deep breath. No, he couldn't bare to stoop down to this girl's level. He charged into the flames, snatching up Hyde by the scruff, and darting through the forest. Hyde hacked and wheezed, coughing out the smoke that traveled to her lungs. Kindle ran harder than he could remember.
The darkness of the pine forest broke into the light of day. The scent of smoke still stung in his nose. He dropped Hyde and hunched over to catch his breath. Hyde staggered to her paws, glaring at Kindle accusingly.
"You lied to me!" She snapped, flashing the very teeth that sunk into the skin of that young man last week. It felt like the flames still glistened in her eyes.
"You're alive and that's all that matters. Now go, far away from here. I'll be going with you, to make sure you stay out of trouble."Hyde roared back at him.
"How can I trust you?!"He loomed over her and looked her in the eye.
"Who else do you have to trust?"[
Hyde is owned by me]
