She is so beautiful! I will name her Kimana, meaning butterfly in Shoshone :D

-First touch-
I walked into the adoption center once more and looked among the pens of the Neravontiis up for adoption. They were all so beautiful, their graceful movement seeming to catch my eyes. I walked among the pens and watched as each one would show their quirks and wonders. It would be very difficult to decide, and I was becoming hopeful that some Neravontii in this room would stick out and say, "I'm the one."

I rounded into the last curve, and all of the Nera's had been so special each in their own way, until I came up to the last pen. There, stood a beautiful girl covered in detailed pattern and a lovely yellowish color. I had to have her as she was so beautiful, graceful, and had a spark in her eyes. I could not just let this one pass up because she was one in a million, and I believed that she would fit in well with the other five: Prachi, Abraxas, Verna, Zelda, and Apollo.

I grabbed the attention of the worker and pulled him over to the pen. "This will be the one. I know she is worth it," I said with a smile and watched as he went to grab the clipboard. I sat there waiting for him to come back and I set my eyes on her through the bars. He walked back over with a pen and some forms and then replied, "Please fill these out and she is yours."
Overjoyed, I filled out each form, the thoughts of training this girl flowing into me head. I slipped the form back onto the desk and ran outside to pull my trailer around to her pen.

I opened the pen just wide enough to let her run into the trailer and then quickly tried to round her into its open door. She was a bit skittish of the trailer, even though she had probably seen them drive by before. After about a half hour of attempts, she finally loaded into the trailer. I closed the door and she started to peek through the window slits at the top of the trailer. I thanked the man and then drove off to give this gal her forever home.

As soon as we came home, I released her into a pasture with four of my other Nera's, due to the fact that Apollo was a stallion. She did not shy into the group, but instead ran over to them and began to bond, as if knowing they were going to be her friends. It was a beautiful thing to see that they were all getting along. Because it was all going so well, I decided that I would go halter Apollo and bring him to see her. Apollo had seemed to sense a new presence and immediately started to jolt forward. As soon as he saw her, I walked him over and let him see who she was. She nuzzled at him and gave him a playful nudge and trotted around the pasture and climbed up into the trees.

I turned Apollo loose back into his stall and then walked back over to the pasture holding the new girl. I remember on her form, it said something about her loving bananas, so I brought a whole bushel of them. "Hey there girl! I heard that you love these," I said gently waving a banana in the air. It immediately caught her attention and she swung down from the tree like a monkey and swiped the banana from my hand! I reached out and let her touch me as she sniffed my hand for more before scarfing down the banana. I laughed and then stroked her side, then let her go bond some more with her new friends.

-First Saddle-
The day had come where she would get to use a saddle for the first time. I had learned over the course of our bonding that she was very easy to deal with and loved to try new things. I haltered her and then took her over to the lunging pen for some groundwork. She would listen to all of my ques and went over some small cavaletti jumps. I halted her in the middle and then fed her a banana slice. I tied her to the side of the pen next to the saddle stand.

She did not seem too interested in the saddle, however, and just let it sit there by her side. I wondered if she was even the littlest bit curious, but then she answered my question by reaching over with the fingers on her tail and grabbed at the saddle. I let her ponder around with the saddle, but she was not too afraid of it. For some reason, she seemed like she had seen a saddle before, even though she had not.

As soon as she let the saddle sit for about ten minutes, I set the saddle onto her back and tightened the girth just enough to keep it centered on her back. She pulled at the girth with her hands and then ran around, sliding into a stop before turning over the other way on occasion. She then decided to roll, which was not exactly what I wanted as the saddle on her was almost broken. I grabbed her halter and stood her back up before she had the chance to roll.

Eventually, she became smart enough to accept that the saddle was going nowhere and that she should just trust her dear owner. I gave her a big rub on her flanks, down her legs, and on her back, and watched her let out a long sigh. I knew that she had settled down, and then took off her saddle and set her loose for the rest of the day.

-First Ride-
A few weeks into saddle training, I realized it was time for her to have her first ride as my Neravontii. I saddled her that morning not worried about how she would be with me. Her personality was already so kind and playful that I believed that she would be the perfect riding horse. As I led her into the arena, she would look over and seem to notice that my pace was a bit more brisk today. I stopped her at the mounting block and let her stand as I took my seat and pressured her on with my legs. She jolted forward in a shaky walk and then would stop every few sides or so.

I would give her a rub and then ask her for a trot, eventually a canter, and at the end, one small jump. She did not seem to understand the idea of the jump, but she was pretty promising. I think that someday she would be a great competition Neravontii and place in the ribbons each time.

She was so much better than my expectations and had passed my tests for her with flying colors! I could not be more happy with this little girl, and decided that she would finally receive her name. After a lot of debating, I decided to call her Kimana, which means butterfly. I decided on this because she flies so high in my pride and has a lot of respect from me and the other Neravontiis in her life. I love her so much, and I knew that she would be worth it with no doubts in my mind.
