How would you treat this dog at home?:
I would treat Rusty just like any other dog, but with a few quirks:
He's very trustworthy and I know I can rely on his calm, laid back attitude so I only put him on a lead when I'm near a road or when the law requires it. He needs a lot of exercise, but he likes to take things slow so I take him on a long gentle walk morning and evening. He likes routine so this would happen every day. Also he gets food at set hours, goes out to play with toys (frisbees, tennis balls and tug ropes are some of his favourites) and has a set time when we will go to bed. Rusty is such a big softy, he sleeps on my bed most nights, even though he has his own on the floor right next to me. This may mean I only get half the room, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Rusty may not compete but that doesn't mean he isn't well trained. There is no set training sessions, but incorporated into all we do is excellent discipline. I know consistency is very important and examples of his everyday obedience would be: 1) He sits and waits for a signal before going to eat from his bowl; 2) He doesn't go on the furniture when I'm not there; 3) He doesn't bark inside; 4) He comes back when called immediately; 5) He doesn't pull when on the lead. These are just examples, and in fact Rusty is just the perfect dog. He is obedient, but has a hilarious character to him as well. He is rather aloof, but intelligent, hard-working and very affectionate.
He is large and somewhat clumsy so I have minimal fragile items within his reach as he is prone to bumping into tables and smacking things with his strong tail. He is allowed to be in the garden, but not by himself - the hedges and fences are six foot, but I'm not taking any chances.
Dog's favorite activity:
His favourite thing is kind of quirky - he likes to watch television! Well actually he just likes to curl up on the sofa when I'm watching tv in the evenings, but he likes to watch the pictures on the screen, and loves the company, especially if he hasn't seen me all day. Usually he lies across the sofa with his head in my lap (he knows he's too big to sit on my knee) and looks up at me with smiling brown eyes and a goofy grin.

How would you treat this dog at home?: Mostly I would try to treat him as normally as possible, despite his size. He would receive just as much love, affection, care and treats as a Belgian Kelpie of a smaller size would. It doesn't matter if he can partake in shows, what really matters is what's on the inside, and that is a dog deserving to be loved and cherished. Since his physical dimensions cannot fully be ignored, there would be a few things needing to be paid special attention to. Early on I would ensure that the house and its surroundings are safe for him, not only as a puppy but also for the huge and strong dog he will grow into. For example, strong fences that are high enough to not be jumped over or climbed are a must. Also I'd make sure that he gets enough excerise to let out the high amounts of energy that he's got, most likely I would do agility with him in case he finds any pleasure in that. His menu would be adjusted to his size and weight in order to keep him healthy and happy. Because he is not only unusually large but also strong, obedience would be even more important. The larger and stronger a dog is the more dangerous he can potentially become, so obedience training would be one of the top priorities. Not that he's got a bad tempter or anything, but especially young fellows like him can easily forget just how powerful they are and cause unintentional harm, too. I would try to start the training as early as possible, introducing it as a fun and rewarding type of game, and keeping it up as we go. It's very important to me that he enjoys it. Proper socialization would be achieved by taking him to the local dog park from a young age on so he learns to deal with and behave around other dogs. Also, due to his size he can reach places that aren't meant for investigating dog snouts - he could easily stand on his hindlegs and steal something from a table, a counter or a shelf. I'd train him so he knows that such places are a taboo, and until he's got that down and can be trusted with it, make sure to keep things out of his reach. With a dog of his size, couches and beds can get cramped. Yes, I'm someone who allows dogs in these places but he'd have to learn that it is *my* couch and *my* bed and if I ask him to leave then he has to obey. Especially in cold winter nights he might not have to deal with such commands though, as a huge warming fluff ball certainly has got his perks. I would even tolerate snoring.
Dog's favorite activity: Phoenix is a power load, and he sure knows exciting ways to let off some steam. His favourite activity would be chasing after critters in our garden. It seems like he finds the greatest joy in butterflies, but when things get really hyper almost anything will do - large flies, bugs, bumblebees, anything that flies and swirls. Extra points when it buzzes. Now, Phoenix' goal is not to eat them, in fact he won't even snap at them, which might be a wise thing to do, considering some critters know to defend themselves against an overly excited huge bundle of red fur. He simply chases after them, jumping, pouncing, barking and taking on a "playing" stance with his chest basically touching the grass and butt swinging along with his ever wagging tail. One time a butterfly actually crash landed right on his snout, causing the most awkward dog sneeze you've ever heard. Since then he gets even more hyped about these little fellows.

How would you treat this dog at home?: He would probably spend hours outside sprinting the lengths of the manor due to how much energy he has, and would need a bath once a week so he didn't smell like the rancid things he found (liked to roll around in them more often than not).
True to his size, he loves to bring home the things he hunts, so it's preferable that he is checked before he goes barreling inside.
Dog's favorite activity: Since Auguste is much too large for showing, he started training as a service dog at the age of two. He showed a natural aptness to those in pain, or those who needed help when he was a year old. His favorite activity isn't really an activity, it's more of a feeling. He can go from jumping off the walls to calmly sitting at the feet of his trainer, and it feels more gratifying than anything to him knowing that what he's doing is good for other people.

How would you treat this dog at home?:
I would, personally, treat the dog like he's a mirrored version od myself. I promise to give him the love and care he needs. Whenever he's sick, I'd nurse him back to health. I would take him on daily walks through the nearby park, let him interact and play with other pups. At home he can play with my other Kelpie, Ulysses, and together they can both play around, sleep, and eat together. At night he'll have his own bed next to Ulysses in my room where they both can sleep together, but if there's a storm then I'll let them up on the bed just for protection. I would love having Ruger at home with me, he's love it here with me me and Ulysses!!!

Dog's favorite activity:
Ruger loves to play Frisbee with his good pal Ulysses! Ulysses and Ruger also love the water so together they play Water Frisbee, where you throw a flying disc over a pool and the dog(s) jump into the pool trying to get the Frisbee. Ruger will spend hours upon hours playing with his favorite blue flying disc in the pool, it's almost impossible to get him out of the pool! Ruger loves to show off that he caught the disc by swimming laps and waving his disc in the air. He loves this activity!!

before this boy's size became obvious, his show name was to be "famous intuition," a quote from
the famous professor layton puzzle games. his call name layton is derived from it.

how would you treat this dog at home?: layton is treated the same, and is as loved as any other saint otterlake dog. he's a young dog - just nearing his second birthday so he has quite a lot of energy to burn. he gets on well with most dogs but he can get a little boisterous in their presence and forget his size. dogs are often frightened of him due to his loud bark, size and bounciness when they first come into contact, much to his confusion, but he has found a best friend in castor. the duo are rarely away from each other and can often be found racing around in the fields. they even occasionally steal the other's kong. he's a very good calming influence on the boundless energy that is cas. layton is a calming influence on cas, and cas helps boost layton's confidence around other dogs. they both wear each other out, which is always a good thing. layton is a very clever dog, a fast and willing learner. he already knows a large array of tricks and not to jump on anyone - which is important for any dog to know not to do, but especially n larger than average beligan kelpie.
layton sleeps in the kennels with most of the dogs, and like the majority of his kennelmates has his own large cozy 'stall.' to keep him as comfortable he has a very large teddy-bear beagle he sleeps curled up against and there a cd player high out of reach - as in many of the kennel stalls - playing paul simon, whom he seems to find very soothing. layton will only drink running water, and has a special water 'drinking fountain' bowl.
there isn't a bad bone in his body. when not around other boisterous or new dogs, he enjoys investigating his surroundings. he has an abundance of puzzle toys of all sorts to keep him amused. he loves to settle down next to anyone reading a book and will look longingly at them until they start reading out loud.

dog's favourite activity: despite not being able to be shown or work competitively, layton does have a job - he is a therapy dog. every second and saturday of the month (and fifth, if there happens to be five in a particular month), layton goes to the paediatric ward. with his large size and gentle demeanour, he is a very calming presence to be around. the children adore the gentle giant and layton enjoys the attention, particularly enjoying when the children read to him. he enjoys every second he's there, loving the children's excited squeals and smiles.

Congrats! I loved the detail put into your descriptions. I adored every part of this. <3
