I'm naming her Calypsa

~~~First Touch~~~

I couldn't wait I was going to see Calypsa. A Neravonii I had found and was hoping to bring home. I pulled up to the facility and got out. A man came over and asked "if i was here to see Calypsa" and I said "yes". We walked through the barn to her stall. He said "well here she is." I walked over to her stall and saw she was eating. I asked him if it was ok for me to go into the stall with her and he said "yes." I went into the stall with her and pulled out a treat and called her over. She picked up her head and looked at me for a second. She walked over to me and saw I had a treat and got excited. I gave the treat to her. As she dipped her for the treat I raised my other hand and put it on her forehead and scratched gently. She leaned into my hand happily. I new I was going to bring her home.

~~~First Saddle~~~


I slowely moved the saddle onto Calypsa's back. Making sure she didnt freak out. "Easy girl," I said as she began getting nervous. I slowly slid the saddle the rest of the way onto her back. I waited a few minutes before i began to cinch the saddle up. I cinched the saddle up the rest of the way as she snorted loudly. "Good Girl," I said as i patted her neck when i was done. I stepped out of the round pen to let her get used to walking around with a saddle. She bucked several times and began to paw at the ground. She stood there and looked at me as if to say, "Are we done now, can i get this thing off my back?" I went back into the round pen and began to take off the saddle. I told her what a good girl she was and gave her a treat before i slid the saddle off of her.

First Ride

I saddled Calypsa and put her in the round pen. Today will be the first day I try to ride her. She has had the saddle on several times. I have even put weights on the saddle to get her used to weight. She was doing better and better each time. She began to get nervous as I prepared to get on her. I stopped and decided to get her to trot around the pen a few more minutes to get out some of her energy. I stopped her and again prepared to get on her. I had did it I was finally on Calypsa. She was very confused and slowly walked around the pen as I asked. I was so happy with her progress. She got several treats ofter her training.
