Aedre is a chemistry/physics science fanatic. Other sciences are interesting as well, but physical sciences hold a special place in her heart. It's mostly due to the fact that she loves the logic and theory of it- while difficult, there's always an answer, somewhere. And she loves figuring that out. Not to mention that she applies it to her element.Her love of science also makes her a rambler- she's prone to getting off topic at times. She looks at the world in a very specific, observing, scientific way, so she's quicker to comment on the way the leaf fell and how gravity worked on the leaf or how the amount of surface area it contains makes it more dynamic and that in turn lets it stay in the air longer, and how wind speed hampers its descent- ahem. Well. You get it. While amazingly insightful, she can confuse a group of lions once she gets going.
Yet, despite all that, she's very timid. She doesn't talk all that much honestly, except for in those rare moments.
She comes off very quiet, but she is a kind individual, with a sarcastic, passive aggressive streak. The quiet kind though, which turns out to be the funniest and pretty effective. She's a great lion, honestly. Around friends, she can make even the most stoic bark out a laugh with her comments. Her scientific view of the world makes her lack in very violent emotions at times, but she's insensitive and blunt because of that. This makes her neutral, but also not the best person to have in an emotionally charged situation. She can have a difficult time reading a situation emotionally. She dissects it scientifically, and doesn't seem to expect anything spontaneous or unexpected.
She also doesn't understand the concept of mates all that much, since, one she's a cub, and two she doesn't think she'll settle down for anyone, male or female. She doesn't really have an opinion about that type of stuff, honestly. Whenever confronted with confusing emotions like this, she honestly has a hard time identifying them, since they can be so strong. Burning hate, consuming love, deep loss... She's never experienced them yet, so she has no idea what she'll do about them when the time comes. But, that doesn't mean that she doesn't have her vulnerable moments, where unreadable emotions grip her.
She does however have ambitions, dreams, and whatnot. She viciously wants to explore the galaxy, and expand her already huge knowledge.
All in all, she's a very withdrawn character. Not in the sense that she avoids other lions; it's just that she doesn't approach them in the first place. Regretfully, it does make her stand out a bit negatively, especially with cubs around her own age. She becomes perfect target- soft spoken, meek looking, to herself, difficult to make eye contact with- a bit of a pushover, honestly.
Yet, pushover is a relative term. She tries to avoid confrontation, so if someone picks on her, she's not prone to fighting back. At all. The teasing can get to her, but she gets over it pretty quickly sometimes... Her method is very simple, really. She makes her tormentors her friend. And trust me, being nice and not fighting can be the most passive aggressive method out there.
You'd be surprised at how well that works out for her. And it does. ↴
History or Short Story:
≋≋≋≋≋"My history isn't all that amazing or outstanding, would you believe. My early years I remember very little of, honestly. Maybe snatches of the civil war, hopping from lion to lion... There would be literally no way that I would be able to remember my parents at this point. They were very old to my understanding, or at least older than 500, or something like that. Plausible form of death, is of course, the war... Unless they were killed in a hunt, fueled by hunger rage and got sloppy, because the war is making food so scarce for lions who spent long periods outside of the safety of the pride. Or they turned on each other... The only one who actually knew what happened to my parents was Aeon, and it's not like I can ask him...≋≋≋≋≋"It's ah, touchy subject for me. I'm sorry. I just... I just hate not knowing, you know? I mean, it's easy to forget about them when you've never met them, but that's the scariest part though. I can't forget them, because I don't remember them in the first place. Not a face, olfactory memory... Nothing. I-I'm scared to even approach the Lake. No one knows if my parents ended up in that body of water, so what's to say that I would feel their souls there anyway? Would... would I even recognize the feeling?"
≋≋≋≋≋"This must be kind of, more like pretty dark, huh? Hah, I mean, there isn't anything really outstanding going on for me right now, but I'm glad to be finally settled. It gets my mind off of thoughts like this... My parents must have been nomads, since I ended up becoming somewhat a prisoner of war... Though, not really, since my parents weren't on any side that anyone can remember. It's more like they didn't know what to do with me, so I'm in stasis still I guess? I sort of kind of live with the prison guards, but I'm allowed to leave the planet... not without an escort, though. The guards nowadays are trying to get me to find a possible rank that I want in the future, so they can apprentice me out to someone, but... I'm a pacifist, honestly.
≋≋≋≋≋"I don't want to fight in this endless war. Being a regular pride member doesn't cut it for me either... I want to explore what's out there, so badly. Maybe, just maybe, the Peacekeepers of Old, in their travels, left something of their teachings, out there in the galaxies, or even in this world. The arches are off limits to me, however. It's not like I bear the mark, hah. Still, I don't mind spending my lifetime traveling to the different worlds, and creating fast ways to do so, for all lions. I believe I could do it... If only to learn all that I can. Yet, becoming a nomad seems like a death sentence nowadays.
≋≋≋≋≋"I'm one of three cubs that was orphaned, though I was the last installment... You know, thinking of those two reminds me of my first day assimilating into the clan, actually. It was an odd little story, but memorable nonetheless..."
≋≋≋≋≋"That orange cub was so unnecessarily malicious, and I wasn't all that sure what was going on? I remember being really proud that day, cause great stars do you know how hard it was to keep that ball levitating and perfectly round? Gosh I was super happy, actually, like you'd think surface tension would dictate that it would automatically start off round, but it doesn't and I was kind of confused at that, cause air is still matter, and once you condense the air around the water, boom insta-sphere! But it didn't act that way first, like first it looked like it water suspended in free fall, and I only got as far as it looking like it was trapped in a plastic bag on the first try. Like, if the plastic bag had no shape. And was on it's flat side.
≋≋≋≋≋"So I was really happy that day, you know? Like, perfect sphere, my friends. Ten outta ten. But then that orange cub ends up breaking it, and then just walks off after she's done that. And then before that, she yells at me, like I stole something, for even giving her an answer... I still don't know what was up with that.
≋≋≋≋≋"I ah, hah, didn't approach her about that after the incident, but she gave me some really good insight, actually. Like, I watched her break the sphere so easily. It held up in her mouth an' all, but just a little bit of pressure from fangs from that jaw of her's- which was really well aligned might I add. She has some perfect teeth, like not even a slight imperfection in the arches. How do you accomplish that? Even my canines don't fit together like perfect little puzzle pieces, but her's do, and that's unfair...
≋≋≋≋≋"But yeah, and splat, there goes the sphere. But you know, I'm actually glad that she did that, cause I discovered a flaw in the creation. The outer layer of water needed to be much denser than the inside, like maybe adding salt and actively transporting the dissolved particles with layered water based membranes to the edge of the sphere, and densely packing it as far as I could make it. So, I got to work on that.
≋≋≋≋≋"The orange cub kept teasing me that day though. I mean, she blew up maybe ten different of my salt-fresh water spheres... It was all from a distance, though. She was so proficient with it, I just have to say. I mean, she started off by shooting bursts of flames directly from her mouth. She must have used me as target practice though, because around the eighth sphere, she was able to directly start up the flames right next to my sphere. She was meters away! The way the air heated up and got drier, visibly too, before the flames appeared was very impressive, I gotta say. Though, she nearly scared me half to bits when she created a wall of flames once I made my tenth sphere, and right in front of me too... an amazing display, but so uncalled for...
≋≋≋≋≋"So, I decided to confront her about it. In the only way I knew how."

≋≋≋≋≋"I recall it being significantly later in the evening, when I approached the orange cub about her less than stellar behavior towards me. To my knowledge, she must have gotten bored with teasing me for the day, so she was just talking with the other orphaned green cub. Who, might I add, I later found out that he had some amazing skills with his element; I actually wanted to be a healer before I met him, and I know I am no match to his skills. That earth cub is something special, let me tell you.
≋≋≋≋≋"Though I have, without a shadow of a doubt, a full guarantee that the orange cub would have continued the taunts had I not decided to step up against her. And when I did- oh, wasn't she surprised at what transpired.
≋≋≋≋≋"I- What? How hard did I hit her? Great Cosmos, you think I laid my paws on her? That never even crossed my mind! Besides, hitting her would have led to nothing but disaster. A straightforward brawl between us would likely start out with me gaining the upper hand, but she would have soon overpowered me. She's older, so more experienced, more agile, and faster... I would have been crushed, now that I think about it.
≋≋≋≋≋"No to the fighting, but what I did give her, which was a peace offering, did indeed shock her, from what I saw. I replicated the first ball that she popped, but made it harder and whatnot- not exactly like ice, but more like... A denser type of water. You're aware of how water expands and grows less dense when it's molecules slow down? Well, with that ball, I had the water molecules slow down enough so that I could manipulate them into sticking closer together. So, I pretty much cooled down the water and compressed it as much as I could.
≋≋≋≋≋"I'm still surprised at how I managed to even accomplish that feat- it's not ice, but it isn't conventional water... I suppose it had something to do with the salt particles within the water sphere, which I made disperse evenly throughout the water instead of just getting pushed out of the way when I contracted the water...
≋≋≋≋≋"So, the orange cub was surprised. The green cub with her was surprised as well, since he also saw the sphere and how difficult it would be to pop it. I admit to blushing when he complimented my work... But the orange cub... Well, she accepted the gift, which meant more to me than anything. She hasn't teased me since.
≋≋≋≋≋"Of course, she hasn't interacted with me much, either since then... I guess it's one of those 'leave well enough alone' situations. But, I know so little about her, and she never even told me her name... I mean, we aren't the best of friends or anything of the sort, but I would love to get to know her... immensely, actually."
