ShE iS GorGEOus ahhhhhHHH! I'm gonna have so much fun taming her!
I think she'll just be blind ; 0 ; Ughhh I cannot get over her thank you so much

    Name: Become Ethereal - Ether
    Gender: Mare
    Halter Color: Brown / leather

forgive me if I do not finish my tasks, life has been extra chaotic for me recently orz

    ♥ 1. -First encounter

    Image

    // What's that? Who's there?//

The mare stared blindly my direction, her ears standing erect, listening. Though she was clearly blind, she was still perceptive, it seemed that she knew exactly where I was in relevance to the things around me. I would have expected such an animal to be timid, skittish at the slightest noise or obvious indication of movement, but she only seemed inquisitive. I made a small noise of curiosity, and one of her ears twitched at the sound, as if questioning me further.

♥ 2. -Adjusting to the new home
The first night the mare stood out in the pasture so she could have some space to roam, but she didnt move far from where she was left. It was a little difficult to lead her to the stables, but, once we got her to settle she was very still going in. She followed a very easy going routine for the first week, with minimal but not nonexistent human interaction so we wouldnt stress her out with out presences, and surprisingly she followed that schedule very well. The mare was silent, at best, but even if her foggy lavender eyes did not move to acknowledge the things around her, you could tell that she was perceiving everything. Her ears would twitch at the sound of a footstep, not that the stables are particularly loud since she was the only Tolter to inhabit our stables at the time, but it was still remarkable to see her head turned in your direction when you went walking to her stall.

As the days went on, she gradually got a lot less tense. The dogs ceased to scare her, though their undeniable urge to herd her into pastures was no less than profound. In spite of this, however, she was surprisingly tolerant. Based on her knack for adapting to many situations quite well, I assume that the first spook with the dogs was enough to prepare her palette for their vibrancy.

One of the first things I noticed is that she very much prefers to be outside whether at night or during the day. And because of this, I commissioned to have a fairly sized paddock sectioned off in one of the pastures so that she could walk during the day and night, but of course, not go too far and end up hurting herself.
♥ 3. -Introduction of the halter
"C'mon girl, you've at least gotta let me try," I murred, holding the halter in one hand while holding the other against her nose, gently stroking it and hoping to sooth her. She had been less than pleased with my attempts to put the halter I had made for her on, though thankfully, her expression of 'less than pleased' was really no more than a gentle head toss or withdrawal to evade my advances. While her patience seemed boundless, mine was beginning to wear thin, I had many other creatures to tend to, and this mare had been here long enough that she should have been wearing a halter.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for a moment, reining myself back in from the frustration that festered in my heart. Such negative feelings were infectious, I couldn't let myself get in the way of this. After a moment of silence, Ether eventually nudged her head against my chest, and pulled me back into the now. I chuckled a little bit and patted her cheek, pressing the halter gently to her neck. To my surprise, she did not flinch away as she had before, and when I acknowledged this, I smiled.

Slowly, with renewed patience, I brought the halter up her neck, before I was just able to slip it onto her head. The halter itself was a richly colored brown leather, with silver buckles and a soft padding on the inside to better suit her comfort. Having her pressed against my chest made it relatively difficult, but it was better than not being able to do it at all. Once I got the halter strapped on, I slid my hand along her jaw and let my fingers trace the strap resting on her cheek. On the leather there was a metal plate with her name engraved into it, and I could feel the dips where the word 'Ether' had been carved. "That wasnt so hard, was it?" I said softly, and she only huffed in response, her head still firmly pressed against my chest.

♥ 4. -Meeting a friend "What do the stars look like?" with Osteo

The mare had been living on our property for nearly a month now, and she'd not strayed near any other equine or stable hand since her arrival. This concerned me greatly, as I was not sure whether or not she would prove to be a danger to both herself and to those around her. I was wise to be concerned, because one after noon a storm rolled in and hands were all rushing to get our animals inside. Our newest assistant went to go retrieve her from her paddock, and she wasted no time in evading him, and she was not seen until the next morning when we found her leaning against the fence of another ranches pasture, sidling along side a stallion who appeared to be blue taffy. I didn't know how long she'd been there, though the way she seemed to be at comfort beside the stallion led me to believe it had been for some considerable amount of time.

When I went to retrieve her, Ether was less than willing to move from her spot there beside the fence. At complete loss for what to do, I stood there scratching my head, but then I noticed a person rounding the fence and approaching with haste. I rushed to meet them half way, and soon found that it was the owner of the ranch. She explained to me that Ether had been here for the better half of the night, she'd seemed rather shaken, and refused to move from the fence, and the stallion who'd taken to the spot beside her had down right refusing to come in when he'd been called, and she came out to come get him herself, she found out why. I apologized to her though she insisted it wasn't a problem at all, and invited me to stay until a trailer from Axiom could come and retrieve Ether and myself.

Perfectly contented with this, we were both able to guide the horses around the fence to the main stables of her ranch, where we could get Ether some water and food without having to separate them. Osteo's owner was very hospitable, I've gotten into the habit of calling them Flurr, and they were really fun to hang out with. Despite the initial scare of having a horse escape in the middle of the storm, I'd like to say it ended rather well for not only me, but for Ether as well.
