Tall, lean frame, round ears, and bright eyes, Xholis are diurnal, hierarchal, and intelligent species that wield the forces of nature. Xholis are social animals that can be recognized into 2 different clans. The ones that hunt at dusk, and those that hunt at dawn. Their pelt reflects their environment as the Dusk hunters tend to have darker palette while the Dawn hunters are significantly lighter. Between those two clans, the species are once again split into more diverse and specialized packs. Fire, Earth and Water are the most common forces of nature that each Xholi wields. The gem they are born with determines their attribute, which is effected by the parent's gems. Every Xholi is given a role befitting their status in the pack, and the leader of the each pack is expected to keep the peace.

Set out for moss, come back with more, collecting secrets for her.
Tajana watches, listens, hides, brings back what was needed and more. A long day has gone by,
but now he has secrets, not only for him but his sister too. Work is done, so away he goes, down
to where they meet. Most settle in the camp, some chatter, then sleep, curled up with all the
others, but never them.

Excuses were made, too hot, too many, needs for space. None are true. They come here to be with
one another, to share what they'd learned and enjoy the pleasure of it being only them, only trust,
only knowing.

Sure there were others who they liked, but there were none like a sibling, the one to support, to
understand, to share secrets with. Tajana awaited her arrival.

Watching the pups, watching them chatter back and forth, storing the secrets for later. It's an easy
task, collecting secrets, for Dagrun when the pups are so willing to share. She just has to give a little
nudge, then tongues turn loose. Sometimes the pups will spill voluntarily, those are always the best.

But now its time for winding down, parents are returning for their pups. Her job is done. Now she has
secrets to share. Watching pups all day makes the excuse for needing fresh air easy. She is excited to
finally see him, tell him it all.

She adores the company of her brother, would not trade it for even the greatest secret. He is already
waiting in the hallow, with things to tell. Dagrun approaches him happily.

There she is, his sister, his other part, he hates to leave her for any strand of time, but Tajana knows
better. They are happy this way, in their separate roles, their love of work is different but what holds
them together is not. For now that she's here he can start to tell all those secrets he found. Whatever is
found by the other is shared during the night, for although a secret must be kept hidden to be of any
worth, they would never hide something from the other. It would be like hiding from yourself, it cannot
be done and brings only harm.

And so with the wind almost stealing his words, Tajana begins with his words, share all the whispers from
the day, everything caught from a glimpse or a good hiding spot all pours forth as he gives his secrets to
her. Secrets only for them, little and big, all made their way to the hallow around them.

Dagrun is so happy to finally see her brother again. When they are apart, its as if they're missing limbs,
but they knows this is best. They are too busy in the day, it's simple in the night. There, they share the
secrets.

She listens as her brother speaks, sharing the secrets of the day. She gasps at some, surprised, but others
she is not surprised of at all. When her brother has finished, she spills her findings of the day. Things from
clueless pups, not knowing they shouldn't be sharing what they are. The secrets are for her brother alone.

Tajana starts listening, learning all that his sister tells. To be apart is to rip them in half, but these secrets,
this trust, will always stitch them back together. And so he listens, to her words, to their meanings. To things
he knows she would only tell him. He listens and listens and feels his heart's wounds from the day heal, he
feels a calm wash over him as their trust is strengthened at the knowledge that these secrets are only for
them. Unless, of course, someone were to hurt the other. But the other xholi knew a little better than that.
Others had more sense than to cross them, but never enough to find their secrets.

Soon enough there was nothing left to share; they had given each other all their secrets and so, with the moon
rising, they curl up together and finally they sleep.

It should have been another day, but it wasn't.
Today he learned a secret.

Farther out then normal, in search of an herb. He found something
else too.

A Scout, Tanith, Ran by with a pup, a pup with a silver stone.
So he follows him, far away. Tajana watches him meet with wolves,
eyes wide.

Tajana hears, he listens, shuddering with the excitement of this
secret.

When he returns with the herb, much later, he is alight with his new
secret, known only to him and the liar.

Only him.

That night, he goes through the smaller secrets with his sister, and
for one moment, one awful moment, he considers not telling her.

A voice in the back his mind whispers to him to keep the secret just
for him. But then he feels the thread, the thread that sews them
together is ripping. So he spills it, and as he sees the delight in her
eyes, the thread coming to life once more, and Tajana knows he's
chosen correctly.

36 and 37's relationship: 1000 words max:

Romulous and Remus are actually twins, which
may not be thought at the first glance of their coat as well as
their personalities. Remus is childish, cheerful, and laid back,
Romulous is unsocial, snarky, a bit lazy and impatient.
The only thing that they have in common is their love for pupsitting and adventure.
However as a pupsitter, Romulous can no longer go on adventures.
As pups, they were the best of friends, both adventurous. They always hung
around with the newborn pups and the pupsitters. Remus also hung
around with the others who were more their age while Romulous
stayed with the pups. When it was time to choose, Remus was
pressured into becoming either a gatherer or scout by his friends,
but since Romulous never hung out with them, he was able to
become a pupsitter. The two started getting farther apart.


"Hahaha come on Roro! Keep up!"
"Remus, Romulous, get back here right now!"
Both pups looked back dejectedly.
"Aww, why?"
"It's too dangerous for you two to be running around!
We don't want you cracking your gems do we? Besides, you two should
be getting some sleep." They both nodded
slowly and slunk back inside the nursery.
"Aw, we were having so much fun too!"
Romulous pouted.
"Well we can always play again tomorrow!"
Remus said as they walked to their mother and curled
up beside her.
"Goodnight Roro."
"Goodnight Remy."

~time skip~

"Hey Romulous, what rank are you going to pick?"
"Hm? Oh I want to be a pupsitter! Pups are so fun to be
around! What rank are you gonna pick?"
"Oh.. gatherer."
"Huh, really? I though you would want to be a pupsitter,
you love playing with them!"
"Oh, well my friends are picking gatherer too, so..."
"Wait..you're just picking gatherer because you want to
be with your friends? Shouldn't you pick something you actually like?"
"Well, I want to actually have friends besides my brother."
"What? Who's to say you still won't be friends?...Are
you saying I don't have any friends?!"
"Well...you never really hang out with anyone else..
you're always in the nursery.."
"I make friends with the pups don't I?!"
"But..do they ever stick?"
"Tch! What kind of brother are you?!" Romulous
shouted, running back to the nursery.
"Wait! Romulous! I-" Remus's voice died out as he
watched Romulous retreat to the nursery.
I messed up. I really messed up.

"Romulous? You there? Please, I'm sorry! I didn't mean it!"
"Remus? What are you doing here?" Remus
turned around to see Aditi.
"Huh? Oh. I just wanted to talk to my brother.."
"What happened between you two anyways?"
*sigh*"We had a fight"
"Oh? If you don't mind me asking, what was it about?"
"It was all my fault. I basically told him I would be his only
friend if he picked pupsitter."
"Ah. Ouch, you really messed up huh?"
"Yeah. That's why I have to go apologize to him."
Remus said quietly.
"Ah, I'm sure it'll work out"
"Hopefully..Anyways, thanks for letting me
get that off my chest, Aditi. See yah." He turned
around and left thinking about the things he had said.

~timeskip as apprentices~
Things however, didn't get better. The two continued distancing
themselves from each other and caused mass tension whenever
the other was in the vicinity.

"Hahaha, you won't get me!"
Squeals of laughter came from the
nursery as Remus played with them.
"Haha, got yo-"
"What are you doing?" Romulous said,
walking in, shooting a glare at Remus.
"Don't you have somewhere to be with your friends?"
Romulous sneered.
"Oh. Right, I-I need to get going"
"Aww, Remus! Can't you stay a little longer?"
"Sorry pipsqueak, but I gotta go."
"Well, can you come back tomorrow?"
*sigh* "Unfor-" Remus
looked down to see pairs of pitiful eyes looking at him.
"I-I mean yeah! I can come back tomorrow!"
Remus laughed nervously, glancing at Romulous
who sat there with a stony face.
"I'll be going now!" Remus said hurriedly,
walking out of the nursery.

"Tch! What does he think he's doing? He's a gatherer, not a pupsitter!
He had his chance!" Romulous seethed, pacing.
"Ugh! I could str-"
"Uh, Romulous?"
"Huh?"
"You're scaring the pups.."
Romulous looked down to see the pups
looking wide eyed at him.
"What was that about Romulous? Why'd
your brother have to leave so soon? "
"Hm, oh he had to go back to work."
"Really? It seemed like he still had some time."
"Oh we-"
"Say, why didn't he become a pupsitter?"
Romulous opened his mouth to answer but was
quickly interrupted.
"To me, it seemed like you two don't have a good
relationship! What happened? Did it affect his choice in ranking?"
The pup was talking so rapidly, firing questions
at him before he could answer.
*cough* "Er, Romulous, why don't I take over now?"
"Oh, uh yeah." Romulous said
awkwardly, leaving the nursery.
"Those two..they just need to make up and stop
making it awkward for the rest of us."
Sighed the pupsitter.

Even with Romulus near the pups nearly all the time,
Remus kept coming back. Romulous still didn't accept his brother for
quite a while, but slowly got use to his brother's persistence to see the
pups. It took them until they had their full jobs for Romulous to finally
forgive his brother, and they became close friends yet again.

xx criticism and jokes aside, hubris and alvina- in his eyes- have an uneasy
xx relationship. he's selfish, she's selfless. he doesn't get along very well
xx with her whenever they speak, and in general likes to do his own thing.
xx that in mind, hubris has two personalities when around his sister. one
xx consists of annoying little brother; he's embarrassing her, demanding
xx her attention, flirting with her friends and more often than not being
xx straight up rude when really he thinks they're joking. the other side
xx of him, however, is the side everyone fears when hanging around an
xx xholi with a sibling. this is his protective older brother stance, in which
xx case he thinks himself in charge of her and she can't do anything dangerous
xx without his knowing. hanging out? no, he needs to know where she will be.
xx this side of him can be overly protective and extremely nosy- even
xx intimidating. but it's hardly ever seen and instead he adopts his more care-
xx less attitude in which she can do whatever as long as it doesn't effect him.

but now i think we've had enough negatives, haven't we? on the occasions in which hubris and alvina get along, he can be absolutely extraordinary with what he does to keep her happy. on her birthday he'll tell all the pups to tell her happy birthday, he'll bring her a present, then sit and listen to her with only a few words about how he could've been better, but said in a friendly and teasing manner. whenever doing activities, he's always checking to make sure she's doing alright, even if it isn't done verbally, and once he finds something wrong will sit with her until the problem is fixed: even if it means helping her back home while their friends continue on.
while these two may be a dramatic duo, and hubris takes full credit for that, they're still siblings and he makes it known to those who ever talk about his sister poorly.

Oh, hello there? You would like to know about me and Hubris's
relationship? Well that's a very uneasy road we are talking
about, sometimes I feel as if he wants to make me miserable.
He continuously pushes me! I have to admit sometimes it does
help though, I did say sometimes right? He always bosses me
around I don't really care if he is older he acts like a pup,
when I am with my friends he always seems to find a way to
embarrass me... Anyway, there are times where he really
actually makes me smile, like the one time he Had gotten
all the pups and pupsitters together for my birthday.

He got them all to scream at the top Of there
lungs "happy birthday, alvina!" I had smiled
before I had walked over to my brother and
licked his cheek and said thank you, that was the
first time in a long while we had actually gotten
along, after that all the pups couldn't hold back
and pounced on me along with my brother, I
couldn't help but wrestle them back. I also
remember when we just apprentices he had
saved me from a deer who had a fawn, I had no
idea I was even near em, she just about trampled
me, when he dash in a spooked it the other way,
We have a lot of bad times but why just look at
those when we can remember those good ones.

I remember this one time he had gotten seriously hurt, he was attacked by a bear when he was out searching for a lost pup; he had found the pup, and was mad at the pup and questioned him why he ran off. Out of no where a bear came and swiped his side, he smacked him into a tree he had broken four ribs, the bear walked away losing interest in them. Soon a gatherer patrol had found them. It happened to be he sister, Alvina and two other gatherers rushed to him. Alvina was worried sick, her usual calm and collected self turning into a panicked, worried Xholi. One of the other gatherers went to get the healer when the bear came back. She snarled and stood over her brother protectively, the other gatherer, her friend, was shocked: this was new. This was a rarely seen personality; she was not longer peaceful but in a new state of mind, her brother might be dead... Of course she was protective, she shot up and smashed into the bears' face, clawing his eyes, the bear turned and scampered off- shocked at what had just happened. She walked over to her brother, feeling his chest with her muzzle, he was breathing. She laid next to him before giving the other gatherer a quick order "get some water please." She did, and when she came back she held a soaking wet moss ball and placed it on his head, he wakes up and Alvina smiled and laid her head on him "don't ever leave me again, or leave alone without someone." She looked at him, slightly mad but relieved he was alright. "I love you." She said as they walked back together with him leaning on her.
