Chrysaora Basilisks #245 | Orphan Rescue Event

Postby noreptiles_ » Mon Jul 13, 2015 4:35 am

General Info
Chrysaora Basilisk are the prevalent equine creatures that inhabit the world Lucent. They roam by the hundreds, using their unique hooves to score the uneven rock and track down their most vital source of nourishment; evil. The relationship between Chrysaora and humans is a complex one. Chrysaora vocalize like horses, but are also thought to have a syrinx much like birds do and have been recorded displaying a variety of sharp, avian sounds. Their eyes layer over with a dark, murky black until their normal eye color pierces through in a great ball of electric light, radiating toward their victim's open eyes and paralyzing them. The Glare is able to stop both human and creature, and after a few days, unique to other forms of basilisk, the paralyzed being transforms into a sea nettle.

A human trapper had stolen many chrysaora foals and was selling them in a underground black market. A organization of people stopped him and rescued the foals, and are now trying to adopt them out. Each of the foals needs an experienced owner to love and raise them. We're counting on you, the members of the chry community, to give these babes a second chance at life.

CB #245 | Orphan Rescue Event // First Encounter

Postby Miavinn » Mon Jul 13, 2015 9:25 am

    First Encounter
spaceCarys laughed as her mare, Tenacity, ran around bucking and kicking. This was one of the few times Tenacity acted like a horse; usually she would just stand around snorting angrily at everything. Smiling still, Carys headed towards the stables to tidy up the already impeccable barn. As she began to sweep the isle, a rumbling noise caught her attention. Leaning out the barn door, Carys spotted a big truck pulling up her driveway. Furrowing her brow, she put the broom down and went out to meet it. A man dressed in casual clothes stepped out, a file founder looking misplaced in his hand. He had day old scruff and the appearance of someone rushed in his job. He glanced around and then approached Carys. "Hello, Miss Laine," He said, "My name is Ari Salo. I am a senior volunteer at Northern Lucent Species Protection Agency." Carys nodded and held out her hand.
space"Nice to meet you Mr. Salo," she said, "What brings the NLSPA here?"
space"Well, we have recently uncovered a large group of foal Chrysaora Basilisks circulating the black market. We found a lengthy list of people who would be qualified for taking on one of the babies." He replied, "Since you are conjoined with a very aggressive Chrysaora, we believe you are very qualified for the job." He gave an approving smile. Carys thought a moment before responding.
space"That is true, but Tencity," She said pointing out to the pasture, "Is very aggressive. She would probably try to kill any other Chry around me."
space"Be that as it may," Salo started again, "You are still very qualified. The foals need to be placed soon before they grow." Carys sighed.
space"Oh all right," She said huffing, "When will I get the foal?"
space"Actually..." Salo said, moving towards his truck and pulling out a lined box, "I happened to bring a colt with me." Carys rolled her eyes. Salo handed her the file folder. "You'll need to fill out this paperwork, but besides that, you're good to go." He set the box on the ground; a blanket covered the bubble.
space"Alright." Carys took the folder and pulled a pen out of her pocket. She quickly filled out the basic information. When it came to naming the Chry, she asked "Can I see him?" Salo nodded and uncovered the colt. He was still growing and the white of a Chrysaora foal. Basillius, a royal name for a surely haughty animal.. Carys laughed inwardly and jotted down the name, handing the paperwork back over. "Here you are."
space"Thank you," Salo said. "I'll let you get adjusted." Carys nodded and picked up the box. Salo got into his truck, waved a goodbye and left. Carys gazed Basillius and took him into the barn. She got a stall set up for him and arranged the box and blankets in one corner. Despite the talk about Tenacity, she was excited to take on the colt.

CB #245 | Orphan Rescue Event // Gaining Trust

Postby Miavinn » Mon Jul 13, 2015 9:26 am

    Gaining Trust
spaceIt was the day of the Chrysaora egg's estimated 3 week period. Since there was no way to really tell when the egg was created, everything was up to guestimation. Carys, Basillius's owner, had been sleeping in the barn since she attained the egg, watching carefully to see when it hatched. Tenacity was deprived of her usual attention and kept kicking the walls of her stall, but Carys payed no attention. The colt had developed beautifully. He was just the right size and an untainted, pure white. Carys smiled at the large egg resting in it's pile of blankets.
spaceSuddenly, the colt reared, striking the protective barrier around it with his horns. Carys stood and moved closer to the egg. Basillius kept tearing at his eggshell, practically tearing it to shreds in his hurry to get out. Carys knew better than to help; those tiny horns were sharp as daggers, very dangerous if gashed by a rearing foal. Instead, she watched as the colt made short work of hatching. He shook himself free of any shell laying over him and stood. Carys's eyes widened. She had forgotten how quickly the foals adjusted. Basillius snorted and raised his head gazing around. Tenacity, a few stalls over, whinnied cautiously. She had near to no experience socializing with other Chrys. Carys made sure not to make eye contact; foals had little understanding of what conjoining was and she didn't want any...incidents. Instead, Carys kneeled down and stretched out her hand slowly, eyes on the ground. Basillius could approach if he wanted, but she wasn't going to force anything upon him. Ears tuned to the colt, she heard slow footsteps moving towards her. A soft muzzle hit her fingertips; the colt's nostrils were flared out of apprehension. He snorted and stumbled backwards, landing on his bum. Despite herself, Carys let out a soft gasp of laughter. Despite the species, foals were foals. Sighing, Carys gazed at the dazed colt and stood, moving out of the stall. In a few weeks she would have to decide whether to let him run wild in the sanctuary part of Austerity Cavern or conjoin with Basillius. Both options could lead to disastrous consequences.

CB #245 | Orphan Rescue Event // First Feeding

Postby Miavinn » Mon Jul 13, 2015 9:27 am

    First Feeding
spaceCarys repeatedly stirred the grain intended for Basillius. She had had the colt for nearly three months and he grew up fast. His coloring had come in; a very dark grey tobiano paired with a dark blue royal purple gradient mane and tail. Basillius was lovely.
spaceOnce the she managed to get the large bucket of grain mixed, Carys carried it out to the field where she let Basillius run wild. She found out quickly that he did not like tight, enclosed spaces and preferred to make his own decisions on where he went, not being led around by a human. Tenacity was in the field beside Basillius; she surprisingly didn't make a fuss. Carys hung the bucket on a hook attached to the inside of one of the fence boards, whistling to the stallion. Generally Chrysaoras downed evil for nourishment, but that was a bit difficult to attain, so Carys planned on bringing him grain and occasionally hay if the pasture wasn't supporting him enough.
spaceHearing the whistle, Basillius came charging up over the small ridge in his field. The stallion's neck reached out for balance and his striding stretched the faster he went. What if crashes into the fence??, Carys thought at last second. Her worries were in vain as Basillius slid to a stop right before the point of no return. Shaking her head with a slight smile, Carys said "Almost pushed that one." The stallion snorted and moved the the bucket, sniffing cautiously, nostrils flaring from the run and anticipation. He dipped his head, nibbling slowly. Basillius chewed a moment and then raised his head up, waving his lips about. "It' nourishment," Carys said laughing, "Not as good as evil, but it'll do." The stallion tossed his head few times and resumes eating. Tenacity whinnied over and Carys smiled. "I'l bring your's next!"

CB #245 | Orphan Rescue Event // Face-to-Face

Postby Miavinn » Mon Jul 13, 2015 9:28 am

    Face-to-Face
Basillius and Tenacity have been kept in separate pastures, with a field inbetween, since Carys attained the stallion.

Basillius, now a rather large stallion, was to finally greet Carys's mare tenacity. Naturaly, all precautions were taken. Extra people stood by, ready to intervene if necessary. Grinning like a fool, Carys slowly edged open the gate seperating the paddocks. Tenacity trotted through, extending her legs for a rather floaty appearance. Basillius snorted and stood his ground. Tenacity tossed her head. The pair stood staring at eachother before Basillius took a few steps forwrad. Tenacity spun on her haunches and galluped of across the field, bucking every so often. Carys sighed. This could take awhile.
