Why do they cover their eyes? Sapphire covers her eyes to hide her true feelings from others. She has a tendency to show more emotion through her eyes than anywhere else, in a way she can't conceal as well as holding back a smile or keeping her ears pinned constantly against her head. Instead, she's resorted to simply covering her eyes with her bangs. Not the best solution but it works for her.

Well, you've inspired me by talking about Sapphire from SU. This bab's name is Azurite, which is also my favorite type of gem. I named Azurite this because their colors are very similar (tans, greens, and blues).

Azurite is female, however, they prefer the pronouns they, them, their, and so on.



Why do they cover their eyes?
"Azurite, why do you cover your eyes?" A small Plumerian asked. "Well, why do you cover yours?" Azurite asked back, a smile on their face. The younger Plumie frowned, and Azurite laughed. "Alright, I'll tell you." The younger Plumerian sat down in front of Azurite, waiting for them to speak. Azurite lifted the hair out of their eyes, showing the younger Plumerian their beautiful golden eyes. The little one gasped in amazement. They seemed to be moving, and inside of them was a picture. He looked closer, and inside he saw himself, running around the world on adventures with another Plumerian. They dove into the oceans, backpacked in the canyons, and traveled through the deep jungles. Azurite's smile grew wider. "Do you like it?" They asked, and the younger Plumerian nodded quickly. "My eyes tell you what you want most. Whether it be a lollipop, to see a family member, or to visit strange places." Azurite dropped their paw, their hair covering their eyes once more, and the younger Plumerian fell out of their trance. "And sometimes, your dreams might just come true."



Backstory:
The screaming and yelling of kids were everywhere; it was recess. Azurite sat on the swings, moving their tiny legs back and forth. They laughed and screamed with joy as the swing went higher and higher, creating butterflies in their stomach. Eventually, Azurite stopped swinging, and a young group of Plumerians padded over. The 'leader' of the group, or really the popular Plumerian, began to talk. "Hey Az," She said, calling Azurite by their nickname their classmates had given them. "We were just curious. Why is your hair so long? Like do you even have eyes?" Azurite shrugged, poking at the mulch on the ground with their feet. "I have eyes. I just like my hair long." The popular Plumerian rolled her eyes, which, for the record, were purple. "Well, can we see them?" She asked, and Azurite shook her head. "Nope." The popular Plumerian seemed confused. "Why not?" Azurite said,"Because I said so." The popular Plumerian flicked her tail and her group jumped on Azurite, holding them down. The popular Plumerian walked over calmly, she knew no teacher would come over and stop them. They were just 'playing.' She pushed Azurite's hair back, and gasped in amazement. "Your eyes!" She said, blinking in astonishment. Azurite's eyes were a beautiful gold, but they were much more then that. The popular Plumerian seemed confused yet again. "Why... why do I see things in your eyes?" Azurite said,"Because that's what my eyes do. They show you things." The popular Plumerian said,"How do you do that?" Azurite replied,"I just do. I was born that way." After a moment of gazing, the other Plumerians stood up and let Azurite go. The group left, leaving Azurite and the popular Plumerian alone. "So, is that all?" Azurite asked. The other Plumerian shook her head. "Nope. I've gotta question." Azurite tilted their head. "What?" They asked. The other Plumerian smiled. "Want to be my friend?"
