Why do they cover their eyes?Gwyneth covers her eyes because she's blind and doesn't see any reason to use them,and she doesn't want anyone to find out that she's blind so she covers her eyes to make an excuse,and refuses to move her hair away from her eyes. She also finds it warm and comfortable when her hair covers her eyes,and she occasionally sleeps in class because no one can tell if she's opening her eyes or not. She runs into walls because of her blindness,but she doesn't really care,since her hair is very thick. She didn't like the feeling when everyone stared at her when she walked by them,so she grew her hair out so nobody stared at her anymore.

I'm a young former college freshman who prefers to spend time drawing cute adoptables. I'm currently a non-owner in the Plumerian community, and that doesn't bother me much. I just enjoy seeing others succeed, but occasionally I enter competitions to improve my skills at forms and to enjoy the chance at winning. I'm not very competitive and while others may say I'm a good artist, I'm not. I enjoy making friends and hanging around in join.mes held by the community, or even lurking in my own every now and again.


Melphomene or Mel for short, is named after the Greek muse of tragedy. Her name means "to sing" or "the one that is melodious", being derived from the Greek verb melpomai {melpô} meaning "to celebrate with dance and song". In mythology, Melphomene was the muse of singing, but changed to the muse of tragedy at a later point. {source}

Melphomene, or as she is sometimes called- Melph, is of Greek descent, as her name may imply. She takes her name very seriously and most of her works are in fact tragedies. Her current career, at age twenty-three, is that of a play writer. She attended college in America, having both an English major and a Drama major. Most of her work draws on the elements of Shakespeare, pairing the deep meanings with more recent scenarios to make them more enjoyable for modern day youths. While she has her own works, she is very reserved about them and keeps them to herself. She is freelance and does not belong to a specific theater troupe or, in a larger scale, a specific theater.


What's the secret? This is the same question she's been asked since she was in high school, starting her first script at the age of fifteen, going through a typical "teen" phase of being a loner. Her hair often covered her eyes as she wrote, washed away blonde locks hiding her eyes as she jotted down notes in her sloppy, yet legible writing. Dotting eyes with large o's, she shied away from anyone who leaned over to read her works. Her English teachers were always impressed, saying what she had was a gift and she should think of a career as a writer.

Fast forward to the present, eight years later. Melphomene has long since learned the trick to her best writing, drawing on her past. She has learned that tragedy is best felt, not seen. Listening to the readings of Othello and Romeo and Juliet, her ink pen scratching away at the paper before her, her hair hides her eyes from the view of the world, her barrier from everything visible. While this trick was once only for writing, she has learned through her shyness it's easier to just stay hidden.

Her hair hinders her ability to see, and in turn strengthens her other senses, especially hearing. Being able to hear others, how they flit about in their daily lives, some slow with the tire of the day or the sadness in their hearts. Others swift with places to go and things to do, preoccupying their daily lives. All of this is heard by this young Plumerian, whom spends too much free time observing the world from her blind state.

Why do they cover their eyes?She has always hated the color of her own eyes since she was young. She had to be rescued from a fire and found out the colors in her eyes would remind her of the scary situation. So she hides them so that nobody can know anything about this.

Why do they cover their eyes? She covers her eyes because they are light sensitive. The reason they are light sensitive is because Juliette has an abnormal amount of Vitamin A in her blood causing her to have more Nightvision rods than normal eyes. With that amazing feature comes a price, she is very sensitive to daylight or bright light causing her to cover her eyes.
