How They Lost Their Leg: Zephyr lost her leg when she had gotten run over by a car. She injured her hind leg and there was no way to fix her leg so it had to be removed. Along with the injury she also got a phobia of cars, even if she hears a car she begun to panic.
How They'll Feel Comfortable At Their New Home: Zephyr will feel comfortable in her new home because she will have another Beligian Kelpie with her and due to the fact that her home will be far away from any main roads. The only car sounds she will hear is the occasional car passing by. She will be treated kindly and won't have to fear cars anymore, hopefully she will lead to get over her phobia.

How They Lost Their Leg: Wafer and his previous owner were on a walk on a chilly fall evening. Another dog owner was walking a very large dog, and had chosen that evening to walk because her large dog was very aggressive, and she thought she wouldn't come upon another dog. When the two dogs crossed paths, the larger dog got agitated and attacked Wafer. The attacker's owner did nothing but apologize and walk away, dragging the dog with her. Wafer's owner rushed him to a vet, but most of his leg was shredded and couldn't be put back together, so they cut it off at his upper thigh. It healed very well.
How They'll Feel Comfortable At Their New Home: Wafer will get lots of car rides, and get to hang his head out the window (while buckled in a harness for safety, of course) to feel the wind and the speed. He may also get his own dog-sized skateboard, and being as smart as he is, will learn to lay on his belly and push with his good leg.

How They Lost Their Leg: Born to an impossible litter of three pups from one mother, Tres was the runt. Squished to the bottom of her mother's belly, she was the unlucky pup neglected of proper nutrition and adequate space to grow. Though born seemingly of perfect health, it quickly became aparent that as the other two puppies began to grow and walk... Tres was often being left behind. She tried her best, but that darn right hind leg simply would not support her weight. Why? Tres' spine had grown just so, that her entire right side from the hip down was entirely paralyzed.

How They'll Feel Comfortable At Their New Home: Tres, despite her having a missing leg, gets along just great with the other dogs. She will romp, run, and race with the best of them without breaking into a pant. But, if there is one thing she cannot tolerate, it is when humans attempt to hold onto her collar or leash her up in an attempt to make her take a break and rest. If grabbed by the collar, she will snarl and try with all her might to pull free from the human's grasp. In proper care, Tres will feel most comfortable with a large yard to play in with other dogs, as well as to be taken on long walks, hikes, or jogs to safely expel excess energy. Understanding must also be taken by all of her human handler to ensure that they approach her without intent to kennel her or force her to watch her canine companions play from the sidelines.
