why does she cover her eyes?
camellia covers her eyes as a way of hiding. she's very, very shy and constantly nervous about one thing or another. her anxiousness gets the best of her a lot. how does her hair tie into this? well, she's afraid of interacting with others, so she tries to hide her face as well as she can. camellia's hair is almost like a comfort blanket for her - she would freak out if someone tried to push it out of her eyes.
the eyes are the window to the soul
camellia is very shut off to people. as it's easy to see, she is quite afraid of others. for this reason, she remains pretty anonymous around other people, not showing off any of her personality. underneath her massive heap of hair, camellia is very childish. she loves cute things and would rather just fool around than actually grow up. she's irresponsible, and bad at doing simple tasks, too. it's one of her biggest flaws. on the plus side, it gives her a sense of innocence. but, don't let that and her shyness fool you - cammie's the first person to mutter obscenities under her breath. camellia oftentimes has very strong feelings about topics. while she holds her tongue, she oftentimes wishes she had the strength to snap at people. she's too quick to judge, and when someone is wrong, she gets angry. (maybe it's a good thing that she's so quiet.)

chocolate chip cookies
standing in line at the bakery, camellia watched her friend rustle through her purse. the shorter plumie turned to her shy companion. "alrighty, so i'll order first, and then you. you sure you're gonna be okay?" cammie nodded her head frantically. she didn't want meredith to think she wasn't capable of such a simple task. but...
"next!" camellia stepped up to the counter. she knew exactly what she wanted: a simple chocolate chip cookie. the way that they made them here were simply to die for! plus, it couldn't be that hard to get, right? it was only two bucks, anyways.
however, as soon as she opened her mouth, it changed.
through the strands of shaggy blonde hair, all she could see were the eyes of the person staring straight back at her. her mouth dried up, and it felt like there was no way to move. no way to escape. camellia stood there, frozen with fear, in front of the counter. "ma'am?"
"u-um, i'd like, um... a-a..." the words just weren't coming out. cammie was stuck in a loop of "um"s for all eternity - or, at least, what felt like all eternity.
luckily, meredith spotted the scene. the much-less-shy plumerian quickly came to the rescue. she sighed, shook her head, and marched up next to her friend. "she wants a chocolate chip cookie. just one, nothing else." relief flooded through camellia's mind. she was saved... at least, for now.
when the two finally sat down, meredith was concerned. "dude, i know you're not good at talking to people. just ask me to order for you, i don't mind." she smiled, trying to comfort the shy plumerian. cammie shook her head, though. "cam, you're never gonna be able to order stuff. you're gonna hold up the line wherever we go."
camellia sighed. "i-i think i m-m-might get it next time," she said. she knew that she probably wouldn't, but it was worth a shot to try it. for now, though, the two plumerians chatted over their food, easing away cammie's worries.

THIS IS GARNET
BACK TOGETHER
hobbies
cammie likes to write. of course, she's not that great, and sounds pretty pretentious sometimes, but she enjoys letting out her emotions in that way. she keeps a diary, which she hides from everyone else, even close friends. it's a bit cliche, but it relieves her to write about how she feels. camellia is also into poetry, but that's another story.
camellia is a huge fan of steven universe. her favorite character is garnet - she loves how hilarious garnet is, and practically screamed while watching jailbreak. she loves and hates pearl at the same time, since pearl's so salty. she thinks amethyst is pretty funny, but sometimes sort of annoying. and, of course, she loves steven. who doesn't? cammie isn't much of an artist, but she likes to doodle fanart from time to time.
cammie's also really into animal crossing. while she doesn't hack, she spends a lot of time to make her town "perfect", in her own words. she finds the cheerful animal villagers comforting. they're always kind to you, and they don't judge you... sometimes, she wishes that plumerians were more like that.
camellia is into those addicting phone games, too, like candy crush saga. she'll get attached to one for roughly a week, and then move on to another one. it's a bit unhealthy, but she doesn't spend any money on it, at least.

Why do they cover their eyes? wip, please don't steal my idea! =3Cecelia developed a disorder called
Prosopagnosia, or 'face blindness', at a very young age. This means, that while she is able to see perfectly fine otherwise, she is unable to recognize faces. Cecelia instead sees them as frightening blurs, and when she can't avoid being around other plumies, hides her eyes underneath her long hair and pretends to be completely blind.
The Difficulties of a Faceless World: Many people with this disorder have extreme difficulties recognizing others and telling the difference between people with similar features. Cecelia will often mistake one plumie for another if they have similar colourings or voices, and requires quite a bit of concentration to focus in on details in order to tell them apart. Attempting to view faces provides considerable confusion and disorients her, often causing her to have panic attacks and become incredibly terrified of the blurry images she sees instead.
Coping With the Disorder: Cecelia has removed all photographs, mirrors, or otherwise reflective surfaces from her home. She does not own a television or computer, and covers all of her books that have faces illustrated on them with brown paper.
This allows her to move freely about her own home without covering her eyes and without fear of seeing either her own 'face' or the 'faces' of others.
When it comes to other plumies, Cecelia has trained herself to be able to recognize them by their
voices, body language, or most commonly, by their feet. However, she still prefers to keep up a facade of being completely blind around other plumies in order to avoid explaining her disorder.
Life Is not Without Joy: Enjoys baking, makes breads like her mother taught her. Listens to her fathers records, builds her own collection. Goes on nature walks around her home. Reads a large collection of classic books. Tends her own garden.

Hands grip the tattered, musty-smelling newspaper in front of you. You had stashed it away in your attic for years upon years, but once your brother had found it all you could do was stare. Your brother had left an hour ago, and you were left there kneeling upon wooden flooring, tears seeping from your eyes. Ten years ago, your life had changed. Ten years ago, you grew your hair out to cover the pain. Ten years ago, you were kept in a hospital for god knows how long.
Ten years ago, the crash had happened.
--
Tires screech as the two cars collide head on, causing your head to snap back as the airbag smashes back into you. You choke, the wind knocked out of you as you struggle for whatever air you have back. Your head is pounding- no, burning, and you are unable to see out of your eyes. You let out a strangled scream, and you feel around blindly for the one thing you know that'll help you- your phone. It slips out of your grasp, and when you can't find it, you tug on yourself, but stop as you hold back a cry of pain. Your legs are trapped under the steering wheel, and you can't move.
--
Remembering the incident causes you to release more tears. You crumble the piece of paper in a ball, tossing it at the nearest wall. It doesn't do much, but you feel satisfaction in throwing it. Getting up on shaky legs, your stare grows even colder as you pick it up, walking to your chimney.
--
Something is jutting into your legs, and the more you struggle, the more pain it causes. You think that it's shrapnel, making you fumble around blindly until you reach for whatever piece was poking your leg. After a few moments of struggling without success, you finally pull it away. You can feel something is wrong with your car- a swaying movement causes you to sit rigid as your stomach ties in knots every time the car swoops. You then realize what is going on- your car is teetering on the side of the hill you were driving on. Letting out a panicked cry, you grip to whatever part of the leather seat you sit upon. The reassuring sound of sirens fill the air, letting you know someone had called 911.
--
You light the fire, feeling the roaring heat of it wash over your face as you sit mere inches away. Feeding the paper to the flames, you watch as they devour it hungrily. The once orange flames are now a hazy green, another permanent sign of what had happened after the crash. You had gained Deuteranopia, also known as red-green colour blindness. The most common type. It hadn't happened right way, no, but shortly over time it had done it's work. Afterwards you had let your once-short blonde hair grow out and cover your eyes. It was a hard transition for you, and the new sight often gave you migraines and made you become dizzy. You would often spend nights by the toilet, hurling until you felt helpless and as weak as a mere bug. Afterwards you had became accustomed to it, but you kept your hair long to block out the colours and the sight that brought you back to that day.
--
When the paramedics had arrived, they had safely received you from your teetering car, and all you could do was cry as they placed you upon the stretcher. Well, you tried to cry, at least- no tears would come out of your burning, stinging eyes. And when they did, it caused them to burn even more. You desperately try to hear what is going on as you lay curled up on the stretcher with a blanket. As you are loaded onto the stretcher, you have the sudden realization that you are now safe. Hope has arrived.
--
For once you brush away the bangs covering your eyes, squinting from the heat that radiates from the fire. You let out a small, trill laugh that echoes around the house. You laugh at everything that has happened in the past decade, tears streaming from your eyes once again as you do so. You are filled with both joy and sadness, and you feel your palm being lifted as one of your cats find their way next to your lap. You smile, tears stopping abruptly as the small feline curls in your lap, purring as you stroke it gingerly. You're a stay at home author and poet, as well as you housing three blind cats. Eventually you are enveloped between your three purring machines, making you close your eyes tightly as their warm bodies press against you. Though you may have had your life turned around, nothing in itself had changed.

Profession & Daily Life
Since a young age, Alyx has always held a fascination with literature and poetry, and her accident never changed that. Because of her disability, finding jobs that can sustain her sight are hard to come by, meaning becoming an author for adults and young adults seemed as if it was a perfect route to take. When away from writing her next upcoming novel, she can be seen slouched over her desk, writing long scripts of all kinds of poetry.
--
Away from her profession, she can be seen living in a spunky condo with the tackiest of items. Though her sight hinders the true colours of things, it doesn't stop her from collecting things such as cat mugs and rows of books upon books.
--
However, driving itself is a hard part of Alyx's life, and she gave up her drivers license once her Deuteranopia began to kick into motion. Because of her colour blindness, she is unable to tell when the street lights change from Green, to Yellow, to Red and thus takes the bus or is lent a ride from a family member or friend. With food she has taught herself to feel the shape of the fruit or vegetable to tell when something has expired or gone rotten- same with putting her smell to great use. She currently houses her condo to three special needs animals; three blind cats named Rocky, Chip and Pepper.

Why do they cover their eyes? They have aphakia, which is the absence of a lens in their eye, and has the ability to see ultraviolet light. They hide them in fear of overexposure to the light.
