Xholi name:
Eldora [Spanish origin, meaning "Gift of the Sun"]
How/why were they named:
"Tell us, Eldora!" The pups chanted as crawled upon their pupsitter. I chuckled and sighed, smiling. "Fine, fine, I'll tell you, but only if you be quiet." She told the little ones as they crawled off her back. They sat down in front of her, looking up to meet her gaze with interested eyes. "It was long, long ago." I began my tale, looking up at the sun above.

"Another day of rain?" A Xholi asked her mate. "Another day of rain." He replied, sighing as he sat down beside her. These words had been exchanged between the two everyday for the past few months. It was a miracle the dens hadn't flooded from all the rain. No one had seen the sun in ages, and it's all everyone wished to see, well, in the Dawn Clan, at least. I'm sure the Dusk clan deigned to see the moon just as much. Day after day, the rain poured on. No one knew what to make of it. Every prediction was wrong, and everyone started to think the sun and moon would never shine again. However, one day, a pup was born, that pup being me, of course. Why was that day significant? As my parents thought of a name, I managed to squirm my way out of the den. Just as I crawled out, the rain ceased, and the clouds began to part. The first ray of the sun shone upon me, and me only. The Xholi began to mumble things like, "The sun!", "The sun has shone for this pup!", and even, "The gift of the sun!" While searching for me in a panic, my parents rushed out of the den and saw the sight the whole pack saw; the shining sun high above, and most of it's light directed on me. My mother smiled. "My little one... You brought us the gift of the sun... My dear, dear Eldora." She whispered as she curled up around me.

"My father had no objections to the name, so now, it is what I go by today. Eldora, gift of the sun." I finished my story as the pups looked in awe. "You stopped a WHOLE storm all by yourself!? That's awesome!" One of them said, wagging it's tail like it had a tick. "I want to do that!" Another said, yipping happily. I smiled as I ushered them back into the den. "Hush, little ones, you'll have your chance one day." I chuckled as I curled up around them. "Now, I believe it's time for your mid-morning nap. Wouldn't want to anger your mother now, would we?" I asked, and they all nodded in unison before curling up to sleep.
