╔══════════════════════════╗username; Hi! I'm Paradiise. I own 2 kiamaras.

nHer family's just a little... different... than she is, that is. They're all fine kias, don't get me wrong, she's just a little less of the, ah, 'fine' type. I'd describe them as maybe, overbearing, or rough. Wait, those words sound negative. She's not negative, I... I don't think. I don't really know her. She just has one of those, 'don't confront me' vibes, y'know?

nnnn• You ask Halsey if she's into the whole, 'be yourself' ideal.
nnn n n She says yes. You're not sure you believe them.
nnnn• You can see straight through her facade. This princess-y,
nnn n n too-good-for-you vibe isn't real, but you don't really know
nnn n n what is. She won't tell you.
nnnn• "Tell me about yourself, Halsey", you say. You think it's
nnn n n time for you to know, but you also don't think they're
nnn n n listening. Maybe her music is turned up too loud?

Imaginationn or nR e a l i t y?
It was never really a question to Halsey. They didn't ponder it, they never even thought of it.
However, throughout her entire life she has been chasing a fantasy, the ideal of 'perfection'. Those that have known her for a long time (though there are few outside her family) know the extreme with which this fascination has gone. Halsey isn't passive in her dreams, like most dreamers are; she actively seeks out to achieve them. Her entire life is based around these ideas she has had since she was a little kid-- they're what she's based her entire self on.

nnn n n When Halsey was young, she was bright-eyed, full of conversation, and so convinced she was special. She had grown up with bedtime stories of princesses, and the idea that she, too, was just like them; she was one-of-a-kind. She was going to grow up and be like no one else, ever.
Halsey saw her family as a bunch of too-smart, nerdy kiamaras with similar personalities. Sure, they had differences, but a young girl couldn't really notice them. She didn't want to be like them when she grew up. She dreamed big, and she dreamed different.
However, as they grew up, their one-of-a-kind, sociable personality grew, but so did Tiki's. She turned a little less special, a little more out-shined, and a lot more jealous. Halsey should've looked up to Tiki. She was everything they aspired to be; Tiki was loved, special, and sociable. However, Halsey never thought of her and her sister as similar kias. Halsey always thought she would be the only one with these traits. To a girl with the idea in their head that they would grow up to be special and one-of-a-kind, this was devastating. Instead of loving her sister, and growing closer to her, Halsey grew away from her sister and became a little bitter and a little more angry. Halsey changed.
It wasn't immediate; it wasn't really even on purpose. But deep down, Halsey had already chosen who she wanted to be (though she lived a life chasing unachievable ideals), and she strived to reach it.
No one can drop who they are entirely, but Halsey gets close every time she tries. There's probably no one in the world who's as talented at it than her (though Halsey herself, upon reflection, is not very sure whether that is a good talent or not). She had a long time to learn how to do it right, and quickly. She started when she was very young-- those who had known her just assumed that she was growing, losing interests, changing, just like every other kid does. But Halsey takes her changes too the extreme, often losing sight on who she used to be.
She didn't want any connections to anybody; she saw traits of herself in her family, friends, and she dropped them. She'd replace them with other traits she had picked up from strangers she didn't remember, side characters on TV shows or in novels, old friends she couldn't recognize if she saw again. She'd just pick something, anything, that no one she knew had. To make her, 'special'. However, this didn't really make her special. Sure, it made her different, but it also separated her from all her family, everyone she knew. She didn't share any traits with them. All she was was a girl made up of mismatched personality traits and high ideals.nnn n n However, as Halsey grew up, slowly learning and changing herself, her changes got more fluid, understandable. Her personality made sense to others, they learned about her. They knew their personality wasn't true, that it was a fake she had made, but... for the first time in a long time, Halsey actually felt 'real'.
As she became a young teenager, her changes didn't stop, but they slowed down. Halsey's changes had been uncontrollable at first; they were subconscious changes by a threatened young girl, and now she fought back, consciously. She wanted a real personality, to know herself, to find that she was special, but to find it in the way everyone else did-- through self discovery. Halsey found comfort in labels at this time; she labelled everything about herself, all their personality traits. They were changeable, easy to anger and frusterate, seemingly cold without meaning to, but they also loved attention and admiration, an ambivert with a talent for changing just enough to fit every situation she was needed in, and looked up to everyone, but in a way that didn't really lower her own self-esteem. Halsey marked her personality down to keep track of it, related herself to things and characters as a way to stop herself from changing too much and loosing a sense of who she was, or at least who they had made themself to be.
She still wanted to be the precious, perfect, princess child she had dreamed to be-- and she tried her best. Maybe it wasn't the best 'dream personality' for her to have, but it was what she had left to ground herself, to really know who she was. It was the only constant in her life. Change terrified Halsey-- not at first, but then when she looks back and hardly recognizes herself in pictures and memories, that frightened them. Most changes to Halsey were negative, or, at least, she thinks they were. She has no idea of who she was or who she should've been; she had no idea how deeply these changes would effect her years down the road.
Still, Halsey's a little too invested in changes, and can become uncomfortable if she doesn't change who she is often. Changes can be little, like hair color or catchphrases, or major like the way she acts and who she hangs out with. She stops them from being big, for the most part-- still, she thinks there will be times they need to change. Everyone has a midlife crisis, yeah?
nnn n n She's older now; she's an adult at 18, and she has no idea who she would have been, who she should have been, who she's going to be in just a short amount of time. Halsey's favorite label is 'changeable'. Throughout her entire life, that's all they've known about themself.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -R e l a t i o n s h i p s
Halsey's relationships have really been affected by her changeable nature; no one's really sure if they know her or not. Often times friends don't stick around when Halsey changes a lot; they don't really like her after that. But there are kiamaras who have been through it all: her family.
Her fathers
Pocky and Khajiit are different, anyone could tell you that. What's bigger than the difference between them? The difference between their relationships with Halsey.
Pocky is smart, but Halsey would label him as 'book smart'. She often feels like he lacks an understanding of her (an understandable thing, but still a slightly angering trait to Halsey). She also feels like Pocky kind of 'stops' her of being who she wants to be, and as someone who becomes uncomfortable in stable situations, that's a slightly more angering trait to them. They know Pocky's just trying to do the best he can to be her father, and she gets that. But she feels tied down by the dreams he had for her, and she feels like she's a little bit less loved by him because she's not smart, she doesn't want to be his perfect, nerdy kid, and she probably won't ever be someone he's entirely proud of.
Khajiit, on the other hand, is the family member Halsey probably feels closest with. She might even say she actually is close to him, which none of her siblings or Pocky really come close to. Halsey doesn't understand why he chose to get caught up in crime, but what she doesn't really understand about him makes her feel like she can relate to him a whole lot more than anyone else. She may be wrong about who she thinks Khajiit is, but to her, she feel like he's just like her; he's stuck between two worlds of his past and who he should be for his kids, he's often misunderstood by others because of this. Maybe he's upset by all he can't be. Maybe he would give up anything to be perfect for those he cares for. Maybe Halsey is too desperate to find someone she can relate too, but she knows that if anyone understood, Khajiit would. And he does, in those few, rare times she breaks down and needs someone to listen.
Her siblings
Tiki, Tovitaan, and Cooper. Those kids that seemed almost identical when she was younger don't seem all that similar now; maybe they changed, or maybe Halsey became an expert in different personalities.
Tiki will always be someone Halsey is jealous of, no matter how many changes occur in their family. To Halsey, Tiki is all that she could have been. Maybe they weren't entirely similar to begin with, like Halsey thought, but Tiki is closer to who Halsey probably would have grown up to be without her drastic personality changes. Because of this, she is jealous and a little cold towards her sister; she probably shouldn't be, and often doesn't even mean to be, but she still is.
Tovitaan would be the closest sibling Halsey has. To Halsey, she is calm and easy to be around. Halsey may hate most stability, but Tovitaan is different. It's nice to hang around her sister, often in silence, just knowing that they both care about each other. Tovitaan is like her 'safe spot', at least out of all their siblings. When the two do talk, they have similar interests. Sure, Halsey isn't into many video games like Tovitaan is, but they both care a whole lot about fictional characters. Halsey isn't sure if her sister knows that these characters have often been the only thing she had to ground herself after losing sense of who she was, or how much she really cares about them, but it's nice to talk about them sometimes.
Cooper and Halsey aren't close. This upsets her sometimes; Cooper resembles Khajiit a lot, at least in Halsey's mind. She thought maybe they could be really close, too. However, they're not close, they don't share many interests, and Halsey isn't sure they ever will. Still, they're siblings, and they care about each other, right?Halsey is usually a little afraid to admit relationships with other kiamaras; she's a little bit clingy. She doesn't want to state her affections and be left, just like that, when she decides to change. However, there is one kiamara she will admit to being friends to, best friends in fact.
Josephine is a dreamer, just like Halsey, though Josie has her head in the clouds a little more than she does. Halsey looks up to her friend so much; Josie's history and personality is to thank for that. Josie is so in-touch with who she is, and who she wants to be. To Halsey, that's like a superpower. She dreams of being just like her friend; and then, maybe, other kiamaras can look up to her, too.--------
H i s t o r y
Halsey's history plays so much into her personality-- well, doesn't everyone's?nnn n n
╔═══════════════════════╗
childhood; birth to ~10 years old
growing up: 10 to ~17
current age: 18
╚═══════════════════════╝
nnn n n As a child, Halsey was a dreamer, and her imagination lead her to be a little out-of-touch with reality. Everything was based around her ideals and the bed time stories that she was told, as you already know. She felt safe and loved, and so very important, as all children seem to. Halsey's life was perfect; her family was loving and her self-esteem was through the roof. If you asked her what their favorite part of their life would be, with no doubt, Halsey would say this time.
There isn't much history in a few years of growing up and learning her core classes in school. There aren't many memories here; maybe Halsey can't recognize them, or herself, or maybe nothing really worth remembering happened. All Halsey has from when they were a little kid is a lingering feeling of warmth and happiness, nothing specific. All her history happened growing up, from about 10 to where she is now-- 18. That's not many years; in fact, it's less than her childhood. But it's so much more interesting and it has a significantly smaller glow of 'love' when you look back on it.
nnn n n No one can say her teenage life is much different than average. Like every kid at this age, it is full of self-exploration and finding herself, or at least as much as she could. Most of her friends, interests, and hobbies came from this time during her life, since she began to settle down from the violent and frequent changes. This was also when all their relationships with her family began to form into what they are now. She became more understanding and loving in relationships and more open to herself. However, this time was also very confusing and saddening to Halsey; she knew it would've ended up differently, but she doesn't know how. She didn't really know much.
nnn n n Her adult life? It doesn't exist yet. Sure, they'll get there, and soon-- they're technically an adult right now, though they haven't been one for very long. However, Halsey's future is just like her personality: no one is really sure what it'll end up like.
