Short story about their first encounter with optimism:

He was not amused.

Strange rope seared the stallion's ebony nose. How it had gotten there had been rather unpleasant; one moment he was peacefully nibbling on a tuft of hay, the next, he was frightened by the sudden slip of rough material about his nose. He had brayed and bucked in fright. V was quite certain that he'd startled the young ducklings just outside of his shelter's yawning door. Though he hadn't cared at that particular moment, the wary stallion was left with his guilt as he pressed his nose to the cold, metallic bars of the trailer he'd been wrestled into. V hadn't a clue where he was being taken. Such was a misfortune of the absence of sight.

The drive was spent with a trembling hide and a twitching nose. V recognized the tar stench of the road, occasionally yanking his head away from the parted windows when a puff of exhaust would flutter his way. Nonetheless, the two hours ached by at an agonizing pace that left V desperate for a change of scenery.

V hardly came to realize the trailer had come to a sputtering stop. Had it not been for the groaning of the swinging door, the horse would have remained with his rear to his visitor. Ears acting as radars, V swung his head to the side, only to clap it against the edge of the cold steel barring him inside. Ears swiveled to rest against his head, V struggled to face the correct direction, guided only by a strange feminine voice that was both foreign and inviting. Hooves scuffling against the aging wood below, V rushed forward, only to be halted by the tug of the tattered lavender halter over his nose.

Fright revisited the black stallion as several unknown voices and sounds flooded his senses. His head rose in frantic bobs, displaying his distaste to whoever might be near. V had the intent to rush forward, but something odd came to lay against his nose.

The mighty horse came to a sudden halt, his ears rolling forward with an immediate urgency. The soft thing spread about his muzzle, almost as if it were stroking him. Were those... fingers? Perfume composed of all things sweet - like a picnic on a summer evening just before the break of dusk, wafted through his nostrils. V wasn't sure if he liked the calming effect the smell washed over his entirety. Nonetheless, the horse marveled in the gentle stroke of this human's touch. When her lips parted with those silly words humans sought to release, however, the touch of her hand was nothing in comparison.

"Ay, 'ats a good boy," she told him. Her voice rolled over him like the thrum of a wave to shore. V had never heard anything of the kind. "Yer gon'na like 'et 'ere."

Though V could not tell her so, the horse had quite a hunch that she was right.

Name Meaning: Buraindo Ōji means Blind Prince, referring to his regal look and his blindness.

Halter Color: Something like this. I guess a way to describe it would be a blue background with white lightning and grey buckles.
Short story about their first encounter with optimism:

Ōji grazed quietly off to the side, his shoulder against the fence so he didn't lose his way. Darkness surrounded him, just as it always had. His constant companion in life. Near (most likely) the center of the pasture, he could hear the older mares gossiping, and faintly he could hear hooves approaching him. He lifted his head and glared forward, not wanting to make a fool of himself and attempt to glare at the horse.

"You look down, so I'm gonna share some advice!" An incredibly chipper female voice said. "If you just try your hardest, I'm sure you'll make it through!"

He was so startled for a moment, he couldn't even reply. When he did, however, he was sure it wasn't what she wanted to hear.

"That is foolish and naive. Even if you try your hardest, some things don't work out in the end." He told her in a monotone voice, slightly angered on the inside.

A long pause greeted him before she spoke again. "You're being silly, of course it does, as long as you try your best!" She said, obviously not as chipper as before (thank god).

"I apologize, but that is incorrect. If you tried your hardest, could you move that mountain? No, I don't think so. Not even with many others helping you. Some things are impossible no matter what we try. You should accept that." He explained slowly.

Another long pause before the sound of hooves galloping away. With a thankful sigh, he leaned down to graze. He had never met anyone who had ever thought like that. He didn't like it...


... Whoops... I think my annoyance with the optimists I've met just took form. Sorry, this one wrote itself. I'm 100% a realist. I apologize if I've offended anybody, but yeah... I tried to make it a good story...
