Tall, lean frame, round ears, and bright eyes, Xholis are diurnal, hierarchal, and intelligent species that wield the forces of nature. Xholis are social animals that can be recognized into 2 different clans. The ones that hunt at dusk, and those that hunt at dawn. Their pelt reflects their environment as the Dusk hunters tend to have darker palette while the Dawn hunters are significantly lighter. Between those two clans, the species are once again split into more diverse and specialized packs. Fire, Earth and Water are the most common forces of nature that each Xholi wields. The gem they are born with determines their attribute, which is effected by the parent's gems. Every Xholi is given a role befitting their status in the pack, and the leader of the each pack is expected to keep the peace.

It wasn't a spur of the moment decision; Irene truly wanted to be a gatherer, though not entirely sure of it at first.
As a pup, she was incredibly fascinated by everyone - especially the workers. It seemed so odd in her perspective, since most pups would constantly speak of stories involving the leader. She liked the way they had worked without mentioning a word, how it didn't bother them that nobody truly appreciated what they did.
Irene took her time choosing carefully what she wanted to do. She couldn't see herself as a part of the defense line: she found herself fleeing more than protecting anything. While a hunter could be sufficient for her, she didn't think of it as an enjoyable job. She disliked the idea of taking care of pups, so a pupsitter was ruled out completely. As for a scout, she could imagine herself being a part of that - but soon found what she truly wanted.
A gatherer was her choice.
Though it took her a long time to think it through, Irene is proud of her decision. She couldn't bear to ask a savant to change her apprenticeship, especially with her confidence level and how she didn't like the other roles. Irene felt if the savant declined, she'd be shunned out completely. Though it's false, she still felt it would happen. She doesn't regret making her decision whatsoever.
Except the few, minor things. As a pup, younger Irene never truly thought of how hard it'd be. She figured it as a quick "grab and go"; easy to find the necessary things. As a gatherer, she takes it upon herself to help out every single xholi possible. While this contradicts herself, she finds it point-blank. It's odd, because she dislikes the busy aspect of the role, yet she does purposely make it harder for herself. Why? She feels as if nobody would think she's trying otherwise. Her job may be easier than she makes it for herself.
As mentioned before, young Irene found the worker roles incredibly heroic. She chose the gatherer for multiple reasons, aside from just having the role fit her. As a xholi, she's dislikes confined spaces and chooses to go outside and run around rather than hide in a den. When she was just a pup, it was troublesome for her mother to keep her inside when it was time to sleep: she'd be constantly trying to run about.
Irene wouldn't see the dangers in life, and she still doesn't quite fully understand them. For example, the threat of a fox is clear, but perhaps not poisonous berries. This is why she's dedicated herself to learning necessary information to be a gatherer. Now, she's quite knowledgeable on what to get for the healer, and other vegetation for the pack when no meat is available.
While she's not much of a hunter, Irene does occasionally bring back meat. Though she hates to do it, she often relies on other gatherers or hunters to bring back meat, and she usually tries to help fetch things for the healer and teach others about what vegetation is safe to eat.
She takes her responsibilities very seriously, and often will scold herself for not doing them up to her own standards. This, at times, shows good work skills, but also shows the fact that she doesn't have much for herself besides her role.
Her personality is evident through her work: hardworking, lonely, free, and loyal. She puts so much effort into her work because she's ultimately lonely, and knows that there's nothing else for her besides her pack and responsibility. Irene understands this, which is why she strives to be the best possible version of herself. If there's nothing you can do about your situation, why not make the best of it?
Her social life was impacted most by her decision. Irene has her regrets, and this is the most common source for hers. In her mind, a clan is made up of pieces, and so is a pack. These pieces are roles: and she believes each xholi belongs in its own 'piece' of the pack. While this is rather untrue, it's her mindset.
As an apprentice, Irene tried to stay away from other xholis that weren't training to be a gatherer or hunter. She believed that it would curb her focus, which made her have not so many friends as the average xholi. This was partially due to the influence of her parents, which told her to do good in life and focus. Young Irene wanted to fulfill their advice, so she continued being this way.
While she's not a particularly aloof xholi, Irene tends to be rather unnoticeable. Irene is rather plain, to put it short: she doesn't have anything else for her asides from gathering. Nobody truly knows her as a definitive label, but rather just a hardworking xholi. She doesn't stick out in any particular way, so she tends to just stick to the background.
It's unknown if she truly likes being this way, though. It can't be helped to have a prick of jealousy every now and then: especially for Irene, who holds emotions back considerably. She has a bad habit of keeping quiet when something annoys her, and truly never knows what she actually wants.
When she became a gatherer, however, that was something she had truly wanted.
It was very difficult to choose out of a few specific forms that were absolutely amazing. Gotta give a bit of recognition to Sighs a lot for a very very close second form~
