How do they cope with being deaf?: Stella has always coped by reading lips and picking up feelings with the hidden third eye. She can also slightly see sound waves, and all of these combined make it so she can understand everything that is being said.
She also likes to sit and close her eyes, imagining the sound waves turning, twisting, and blending into colors and pictures.

How do they cope with being deaf?: Star's grates! Her grates can produce an odd smoke that she breathes in and she sees words in her mind that others are saying. She calls this smoke "Telepathy Smoke".

How do they cope with being deaf?: Xanthus is able to speak, though when communicating with other Hazards they must write down their words or speak very slowly for him to read their lips.

Extra: Xanthus wasn't always deaf... Prior to his deafness he had a fascination with how the ears worked. He was always curious how the ears caught and transferred the sound into something they could understand. Then, one day he was poisoned by a certain Hazard who had an obsession with poisons and the like. The poison attacked his senses, hospitalizing the cat for weeks while he recovered. At first, when he woke up, he couldn't see, hear, or smell and he could barely feel or taste anything. Nearly all of his senses came back within the next couple of days, though his hearing was still gone. This made him rather upset, as he could no longer safely test his theories about ears. He would had to give up his studies. So that was what he did, he retreated into a shell of melancholy for awhile, but soon picked himself back up. Xanthus began to watch other Hazards speak and had friends help him learn to read the lips of other Hazards. It was a very slow and difficult process, but he eventually got to the point where he could function better in society.

Congrats. I made two art pieces of him, but I noticed there was a winner before I posted the second. Take care of her! Even though I absolutely love this cat, I'm feeling generous and I think you deserve the art I posted. I will be keeping the second one, but don't worry I will re color it so it doesn't look like Cyber. I'm feeling kinda bad that I made art for a couple cats that I didn't win and kept it, but I really liked your form and think you deserve something. I have one question for Hannah though, are there ever runner ups for hazard cats?
