this piece of Morwen. Sorry the quality is so bad :c
(And because The Children Of Húrin is insanely sad, I wrote a short piece to mirror that.)
A cold drizzle fell lightly on the coat of the lone equid, dampening her back and darkening her mood. No, she mustn't let herself slip into deeper melancholy, but it was all too natural for her. Always lingering in her mind and heart, a sober thoughtfulness and sadness she could never seem to escape.
Morwen lifted her delicate head and glanced around, her destination was near. She walked to it and carefully laid down. It was large rock formation, with one hanging over to block the weather and trees standing on either side to conceal her from prying eyes. A perfect place to be alone. Though the dark mare seemed to be alone wherever she was and whoever she was with. A deep loneliness masked by pleasant conversation and interaction. It's was like she was hiding behind a curtain of darkness and no one could see it. Loved ones were confused with her, even repelled by her seemingly worshipping her pain. They didn't and could never understand. She didn't worship her pain, she lived with it for so long that she embraced it. But occasionally when she was truely alone, she would let the ache surface and ponder why she was this way. She couldn't even feel love, like a connection she had heard about for years. She never felt one. She would choose who she loved and feel nothing in return.
She blinked, her emerald eyes reflecting the distant grey sky. Sighing, she slipped them closed. Obviously she was destined to be this way forever, as she had thought a hundred times before. But it was ok, she had accepted it long ago.
Besides, the strong ones carry the biggest load she thought as she drifted into unconsciousness.
