Username: Lyrebird
Show Name: Some Like It Hot
Name: Summer
Gender: Mare
Colour: Bay Roan Sabino (Ee/AA/Rr/nSb1)
Age: Four
Height: 14.2hh
Halter Colour: Surprise me?
Personality:
Short Story:
It was the beginning of spring, the season when tornadoes and thunderstorms wracked the land, and there was mud everywhere. Summer and her owner, a woman by the name of Morgan, were riding out on the trails that led up and around a smaller volcano, and the first mile or so was slick with mud. It took all of her restraint to stop herself from dropping and rolling in the cool mud, and she quickly became jumpy.

Once at the edge of the trail, where mud traded with volcanic rock, she couldn't take it anymore. She tore the reins from her human's hands and took off, heels kicking up and splattering mud all over her rider's back and the shiny black saddle. Morgan just barely got free of the saddle before Summer went down on her knees and, legs splayed in the air, rolled to her heart's content.

The mare came back up looking like a different horse; she was completely brown, and the saddle was now a dripping lump on her back. Morgan obviously couldn't ride her back, so it took them nearly three hours to walk back along the trail, sinking into the squelching liquid under them.

Once home, there was another four hour bathing and grooming, and then the rest of the night was spent meticulously cleaning the tack.

The pair went out the next day, when it was much drier. They made it all the way to the point where the volcanic rock softened, giving way to molten material underneath. Summer pawed a hoof at a searing hot bubble, nearly melting her shoe off and getting a thorough scolding from her rider.

The day after that, it stormed again, the wind knocking a tree into the fence and letting the herd free. Summer? She ran right for the human's house, where the back door was almost always left open and just wide enough for the horse to squeeze through, which she immediately did. Morgan nearly snapped when she found the dripping wet, muddy horse standing in her kitchen and lipping at her house plants. It took literal hours to get the problem horse back out and into the stables.

The rest of the week went about the same, with Summer constantly getting into trouble and causing Morgan more stress than she thought she could handle. Though, after those seven days, Summer seemed to mellow out, though she was still one heck of a trouble maker when she felt like it.

Username: TreeChthulhuKanji
Show Name (optional): Catcher in the Rye
Name: Rye
Gender: Stallion
Colour: Bay Roan Sabino (Ee/AA/Rr/nSb1)
Age: 7 years old
Height: 15 hands
Halter Colour: Same as his eyes
Personality: A high-spirited boy with a love for competing. He can become narrow minded when he focuses on one thing and won't notice much else around him, this kind of focus helps when it comes to cutting cows since he won't let that one cow out of his sight for a moment. He's friendly to other horses but prefers human companions more since they are the ones who help him compete and put his speed and athleticism to the test. He does like winning ribbons but he's a good sport when he doesn't and is also happy to go home tired and knowing he worked his butt off at doing what he loves.
Short Story: A set of violet eyes were locked with a pair of startled dark brown ones, both animals were snorting from exertion and had sweat slicking down some of their fur. Rye had cut off a calf from a herd and was waiting on tense legs, ready to follow the calf around to block it from moving back to the rest, his rider sat loose and limber in the saddle, not giving any cues because Rye already knew what he had to do. The calf paused uncertainly, unsure of what Rye's plans were, it took a couple steps to the right to move around Rye but Rye already shifted and prevented the calf from going around that way. The calf became panicky and ran in the opposite direction, Rye spun and blocked the calf from getting around him from the left, the calf spun when it realized Rye was already there and tried to charge right by Rye's shoulder instead. Rye couldn't stop the calf from the front so he turned with the calf and pushed it with his shoulder while running beside it on the right of him until it was caught up close to the railing of the arena, the calf couldn't move any farther forward but because it was pinned it couldn't move backwards to get away either. Rye was focused on keeping this calf up against the rail, not crushing it but squeezing it enough so it couldn't get away, until he felt his rider's cues for him to move off to the left. The horn had blared to signify the end of their round, Rye was panting a bit and he worked himself into a lather but the rubs he was getting on the neck from his rider told him that he did a good job.

    Show Name: Eventful Tradition
    Name: Nephthys
    Gender: mare
    Colour: Bay Roan Sabino (Ee/AA/Rr/nSb1)
    Age: 6
    Height: 14.2hh
Halter Colour: the same as her eyes.

Personality:Nephthys sticks to what she believes in and who she is loyal to very strongly. Nephthys is not extremely expressive when it comes to show of emotions or verbalize what values drives her very often, but her emotions and passions are certainly what drives her actions. Nephthys is honest to those she trusts and is rather intuitive. She usually acts on what she feels to be true even without conscious reasoning. She loves to explore and has to be doing something. She can't be sitting still or doing nothing as it drives her insane. Nephthys is capable of planning and executing a plan when she needs to but prefers to just jump right into a situation without much thinking.

Short Story: The mare’s hard hooves clicked on the stony surface, her dark tail swinging side to side but stilling when her purple eyes looked over the edge. A hundred meter drop caused the mare to take quick intake of breath and she stepped backwards in order to get the feeling of safety once again. A numbing wind whipped around her, kicking up her dark mane and causing the whinny of a horse to travel quickly to her ears. She promised herself she would always look out her for friend and now, a wall of stone separated them. Turning her slender frame, Nephthys looked at the once, open cave entrance that was now covered in rubble and large stones slowly becoming covered in a thin layer of snow. Trotting up to the closed entrance, she lifted her front legs onto a rock to peer through a small gap to set her eyes on a buckskin paint who was walking around in a small circle, his long black mane covering his face. “Killian. We need to split up. I am sure I saw another section of the cave that we could have travelled through.” her voice calm but there was a shaky nature to it, not because she was scared but because of the cold snowflakes landing on her back caused her body to shiver. The stallion nodded his head and walked up to the space in the rubble, his deep voice authoritative and decisive. “I will go back and you see if you can go around. See you soon” he gave her a small smile before disappearing into the darkness of the cave. Nephthys spun around and trotted with her tail flickering behind her as her purple eyes trailed along the rock. It was her fault. She was the one who wanted to go explore the caves on the far side of the valley and Killian was unable to let her go on her own, so he tagged along. A few moments passed and she stopped on the cold trail to find there was a small gap standing between herself and a trail they had walked up earlier that day. As she judged whether she could make the jump, the buckskin appeared and called out to her. Clenching her jaw and shaking off the layer of snow on her back, Nephthys started forward, kicking up snow as she gained speed. Flying through the air gave the mare such a rush of adrenaline that she could only giggle when she pranced up to the stallion, flicking him with her tail before racing forward back home.

Username: ☠ あ.blue.お ☠
Show Name (optional): Summer's Breeze
Name: Summer
Gender: Mare
Colour: Bay Roan Sabino (Ee/AA/Rr/nSb1)
Age: 5 years
Height: 14.3 hands tall
Halter Colour: surprise me
Personality: Summer is a laid back mare, loving to go with the flow. She is a bit lazy and likes to relax in the warm sun, letting the boys do all of the hard work. She also has a sweet tooth, and will steal anything with sugar in it right out of your hand. She gets along fairly well with children- mostly because they spend more time grooming, petting and feeding her than actually riding her- and is the ideal lesson horse.
Short Story:
It was the middle of June in southern Florida on one of the hottest days of the year. All of the horses were complaining that it was far too hot- easily a hundred degrees inside the stuffy old barn and even hotter outside. Summer was the loudest with these complaints, saying how it was far too hot to be outside and what a crime it was to be in the middle of a jumping lesson. She tossed her head against the bridle, feeling the bit in her mouth start to pinch as she did so. "ow," she muttered and pinned her ears back a little. One of the other horses trotted over to her and told her to stop throwing a fit and that it wouldn't kill her to get the exercise.

It was true that it wouldn't kill her. She had put on a few extra pounds since last year, having had munched on a few too many sweets during the year- so many in fact, that she had gone up a whole girth size since December. It was embarrassing how she was slowly gaining that much weight, so she decided to stop making a fuss. Once she did, the rider had her pick up an easy paced trot and eventually a canter before they set her up with her first jump. This rider was fairly inexperienced, so it was only a low crossrail but it was still enough to make the mare nervous as it had been a few months since she'd last jumped over anything. Would she make it, or would she just end up falling on her face and make a fool out of herself?

The mare was full of nerves as she neared the jump and decided at the last minute it wasn't right, turning on her heels away from the obstacle. "I-I can't do this!" she whined as she slowed her pace to a trot, her rider somehow managing to stay in place on her back. The human atop her back wasn't nervous as she would've expected. They weren't even angry or upset- they simply gave the back of her neck a little pat and told her to try it again, offering her a little encouragement.

"Okay. I can do this. If you think I can, I'll be willing to give it a try..." she said to herself as the rider smiled and nodded a little, seeming to understand her words. Summer turned her head back around and took a deep breath before she picked up her canter again, waiting for the rider to set her up for the crossrail. The rider set her up for the jump and she soared over it as if it were nothing. She felt as if she were flying for a split second. It was an amazing feeling.
