Her Feather Story:
It had been a bright clear morning on the day Sona wandered away from her mother in the early morning hours. All had been peaceful and quiet as she walked through a field with a few small rolling hills. Not long after she heard faint shuffling close behind her, ignoring it she continued, to content with her own adventure, a large black bird flew overhead. Suddenly the shuffling became pounding and a large bear-like animal bounded towards her, claws outstretched and teeth gleaming. She cried out taking a few rushed stumbling steps backwards,
"Mummy!" She screamed in terror, the joy of her independent escape lost now. She heard a screech as the black bird from before dove down, she squeezed her eyes closed...now a bird too? She though, but the bird didn't attack her, it landed in front of her. The bird... was a Phoenix the tips of his feathers covered in licks of blazing blue flame.
"This child isn't yours," The phoenix cawed, "leave," he demanded as the flames began to flick off in sparks, with a discontented roar the bear lumbered off. The large phoenix turned to her,
"T-Thank you," She muttered softly, her normally spirited attitude gone and her eyes glossy with tears, she looked up as a soft breeze flitted through the air, "Why'd you do that for me?" He was a bird, she had seen her mother hunt many birds, never giving it a thought, why should she have?
He smiled, "It's a lucky thing to live, you have a lot more of that left to do. you are only young, sometimes others need a bit of help" He turned picking up a single purplish ember-colored feather that had fallen in his haste and placing it on Sona, She stared up in awe at the bird. "Remember me and remember this," He soon took off leaving a young and tired Sona speechless, thinking of his words, he made her want to be strong, but not the strong that made others scared, or sent her behind her mother tail between her legs... A strong she didn't yet have the word to describe but she would... merciful.
