The rock overlooks the ocean, and is perfect for sunning, as it's location enables the sun to warm it directly. The surface is smooth, which makes it a comfortable place to sleep, and it doesn't get so hot that it's painful to be on. The coloring of the rock is almost like that of your stereotypical clamshell; dark on the top, and light on the bottom. Now since the rock looks like an upside down clamshell, technically the darker color, which of course is gray, is on the bottom, and the lighter color, which is white, is on the top. The white part has a somewhat shell-like quality, because on certain days, it seems to have the rainbow-like colors that most clamshells have inside them.
