Kainan is rather a self-reserved bean who is very stubborn and dislikes being
in the spotlight. He is quite friendly though, although usually easily upsetted
and he likes to spend hours sitting on the beach carving little wooden animals,
especially marine creatures. If he's feeling a bit more cheerful he'll often go
surfing around the beach with his friends. Kainan is occasionally teased but
his friends will always defend him; he's got a really sweet nature when he's
with loved ones (aka family and friends). Kai often brings back those wooden
carvings and because he usually has no use for them and he's got a whole
stock of them in the house overloading his bedroom, he usually gives them
to everyone down the street or any friends. Kainan loves carving custom-made
ones for them; he carves whatever sea animal he thinks represents the person
he's giving the carving to. He has been known to night surf for fun, often
sneaking out of the window while Nadira was asleep, since she didn't share his
love for surfing; or so Kainan thinks, anyway. Kainan's name is an extended
version of 'Kai' which means sea in Hawaiian. He got this name because he
was born near the sea and loves it dearly, luckily fitting with his name and pelt
colour. Kainan likes being called 'Kai' better than his full name.
Sometimes, his whole shyness begins to peel away and he turns into the more
mischievous Kai. He loves nicking sweets from his brother and sister, and
often tells very bad jokes to everyone. Kai is often in trouble whenever he
feels like doing something amusing, which only benefits him. Kainan doesn't
become arrogant or anything; he's just feeling a bit playful. He's currently
working on how to be 'cool' around the more popular guys (he will improve when
he's a teen at this. xD) Kai often brings back tons of hermit crabs back home
whenever he visits the beach. He has a tank full of them at home, and Tora
has been slightly concerned about the amount of hermit crabs going in the tank.
Kainan also learnt a bit of cooking from his best friend Linde, although she
mainly focuses on pastries. She showed him the easier, simpler recipes which he
could easily do, so he enjoys going fishing with his father and cooking seafood
which they caught together.

Nadira - twin sisterKainan loves his sister of course, but the two argue a lot over things, like for example where they sit at the dinner table, or whether they go to the zoo or to the aquarium. Whenever they play together, sometimes they exclude Ignacio, saying it's 'twins stuff'. They don't interact outdoors often, because Kainan always goes to the beach whereas Nadira might be off to somewhere else like the nearest flower field. Kainan often likes to bring back hibiscuses for her, the bright pink ones that match her colour.

Ignacio - older brotherKainan often spends time with his brother and looks up to him, although Ignacio does tend to do some stuff a little brother shouldn't be doing. Kai often plays video games with him although of course, with the games being all his, Ignacio almost always wins. Although Ignacio tries to let him win, Kainan's a fair sport and will keep trying until he beats his brother. Kai has tried to take Ignacio surfing, but like his electronic games, surfing and Ignacio don't seem to mix.

Tora - motherTora and Kainan are pretty close, since Tora is basically Kainan's confessional box or something. The first person to break Nadira and Kainan's arguments is usually Tora; she's the one with the ideas to keep them both satisfied. Kai respects her a lot and although he usually doesn't touch her belongings, he and Nadira often jump on her bed (apparently theirs isn't springy enough!) and once they even got into her makeup bag and got into a massive mess.

Viserys - fatherKainan often likes to go with his father out for an early swim. He usually spends lots of time with his father after he comes home from work, and Kai and Nadi often used to argued over who was to sit on his lap whenever they were reading a story. The twins sometimes prank him by hiding when he comes through the door from work, and jumping out from under the table. Kainan is a bit intimidated by his father's slightly evil personality.

Mozart - paternal grandfatherKainan and Mozart often spend a lot of time together. Mozart's design makes Kai extremely curious and wonders if he's 1/4th Humboldt penguin. He likes to carve lots of penguins for him, especially the humboldt penguin (although it's hard to tell the difference between one of not.) Most of the time Kainan overloads Mozart with strange questions and they sometimes both have awkward silent moments whenever they're in a room together with no one else.

Kensley - paternal grandmotherKensley and Kainan don't often see each other. However, he does love her and usually won't miss an opportunity to see his grandmother. He's quite intimidated by her curly horns but he's slowly gotten less worried that his grandmother won't accidentally hurt him with them. Out of everyone who has horns in the family, Kainan personally thinks hers is the most impressive and often likes carving them, for practice as well as inspiration.

Edie - auntKainan thinks aunt Edie is great! He likes to compare his colors and patterns with her and even pretend that she's big enough for himself to hide in her fur. Sometimes he calls her aunt Ed, which she doesn't really mind but can make others smile and even laugh. It's just an adorable sight to see. Kainan often likes spending time with her fiancee Jean too, and the three (often 4 or 5, including Ignacio and Nadira) have a lot of fun together.

Ritz - uncleKai doesn't really click well with Ritz, who he sometimes begrudgingly calls uncle Ritzy. He doesn't know why they never seem to get along that well, but Ritz is that one relative who you see but never feel comfortable saying hello to. Kai doesn't like sticking around much, and usually goes off after his dad or aunt Edie, unless he'd rather be with his siblings. He tries to be fairly polite around him but it doesn't really help with anything, pretty much.

Cambriel - uncleUncle Cam is great! Kainan really likes Cambriel's playfulness and sometimes teases him for his short fur. They get along great and are usually seen frolicking together or even sleeping together, since they both get into mischief really easily. He feels more fondness for Cambriel compared to Ritz, and usually ignores the latter for the former. He often carves him penguins, usually humboldt ones, although Cam isn't really a penguin unlike his father.
Geneva - maternal grandmotherKainan doesn't have a favourite grandparent, although he's exceptionally close to Geneva. Kainan is comforted by her a lot, and is slightly easier to confide in her than his mother Tora. He just finds her gentler and always says she's wiser because of her age and such, although Geneva pretends the 'age' part is a compliment. Kainan is fascinated by her design, often comparing their blues together. He likes the fact he looks like his grandmother.

Romeo - maternal grandfatherKainan absolutely loves Romeo. He thinks he's an amazing grandfather and they often go surfing together. When Kainan first met him, he called him 'Romi' and so the name stuck. He often calls Romeo 'grandad Romi' although Nadira and Ignacio often laugh at him for still calling him that. Kai bought sunglasses to match his grandfather's, saying he needed to look cool. He has a habit of wearing them whenever Romeo comes over, even if it's indoors.

Phyllis - auntKainan loves spending time with his aunt although she's a bit too old for him. Since Phyllis treats him a bit like a baby, Kainan will get a bit annoyed and they'll spend half of their time arguing, with Kai usually ending the ordeal. However she's been useful in ways, such as helping him with math problems for homework, and he's managed to find a real sweetness in her underneath the bickering and mocking, but usually whenever he visits he plays with Lyle more often.

Lyle - uncleKainan and Lyle are pretty tight. Although Lyle is older than Kai he treats him like a big brother, and they often go out to the beach together. Lyle is working on surfing, and the boys often do it together, although he smashed one of Kai's surfboards by accident once and Lyle slightly lost interest. He often finds it strange that Lyle is his uncle, when they play so well together, and Kai considers him more of a friend and brother rather than an uncle.

Cerah - uncleKainan and Cerah are even closer than his other uncle and aunt because of their age. Kai is slightly unsure of his habit of saying 'sorry' all the time and often is dumbfounded on what to reply. Kai is often very curious of his 'flute' - while Cerah always mumbles, "It's not a flute, it's a piccolo!" They often play songs together, although they don't usually find a song that fits both a piccolo and ukulele so usually it's Kai who suggests Moves like Jagger.

Fantine - great auntFantine is one bean that Kai feels comfortable around. Her childish surface makes her someone Kai can get a little mischievous with despite their age difference, although the green bean usually watches while Kainan's the one to pull the strings. He also enjoys visiting Fantine once in a while and talks about her cafe, called the Green Bean. Kai often orders the lemonade there. Mainly whenever he visits, he'll play with Raegan though. He likes to play chess with her.

Oni - great auntKai doesn't hang out with Oni as often as he does with Fantine, but he is very fascinated with Oni's mask collection and will sit around trying to replicate them with his own carving skills. He doesn't always succeed in doing so, but when he manages to, he feels proud of himself. Oni usually receives these mask carvings, since Kai can't possibly keep the overload, plus when his own bedroom has a ton of them. She's one of the beans who he gifts to the most.

Elias - second uncleAlthough Kai doesn't see Elias often he's already deduced a bit of Elias' personality from the few times they've met. Kai doesn't really feel like he clicks that well with Elias and because of that, he doesn't tend to stick around with him. Their age difference usually causes Kai to just run off to Elias' younger brother instead. Of course, Kai being Kai, he tries to like him but unlike his other uncles and aunts their personalities don't seem to fit together well.

Raegan - second uncleKainan and Raegan are like a tag team, whenever they meet they get into all sorts of fun. Raegan pulls Kai's more mischievous side to the forefront, and once they're both tired out they lay in the shade of an umbrella at the beach wearing sunglasses. Kai always feels excited to show Raegan his little carvings, and has made multiple ones for him since Kai can't seem to pinpoint just one animal to describe Raegan. So far he's chosen a bear, a seagull and a cat.
Chanel - crushChanel and Kainan have been quite close ever since early childhood. He'd always had glimpses of her at school, but hadn't paid much attention because of his shyness. He met her properly one day, as Nadira was her best friend and brought her to their house - and then that time Kainan tried to get more involved with her. They then started to talk to each other more at school and Kai found he had developed a crush for her - and so had she - although they both know it, they haven't told each other yet.

Kainan felt the wind whip at his face. He finished carving one
of the figures and clutched them all to his chest. He blinked
and stared at the sky, the waves gently lapping on the shore.
Nearly sunset. He closed his eyes, wanting to have a bit of
his own personal time, but heard a voice -
"Kai?"
He did not turn, and his mouth felt dry and would not open. He
managed to mumble, "What?" As the person behind came closer.
He could tell by her voice that it was Linde, and the delicious
smell of freshly baked biscuits made him feel quite hungry.
"I brought biscuits..." Linde told him, although he already knew.
He still wanted to be alone, but Linde was his friend, after all.
And the biscuits
were tempting. He turned and took a
biscuit.
He sighed. As he bit into the delicious biscuit, he felt slightly
more relaxed. After a while, they watched as the sun slowly
cast a light, orange shade across the blue. He felt all his doubts
melting away as he watched in awe at the sky. "You know..." said
Kainan slowly. "It's so beautiful today."
