personality:dev can be a sweetie, but he keeps to himself most of the time. his favorite thing to do in his free time is tend to his rose garden.
song:
the climate around his home is overcast 85% of the year, and this plays into his sheltered lifestyle. he lives in a large abandoned custom built dollhouse mansion, free from distractions. although he chooses to live outside of the Dollhouse, he gets by just fine with the affection from rose, his companion.
he is arrogant, selfish, compassionate, intelligent, introverted, and pessimistic; but that doesn't slow him down. he's also very logical, expressive, and rational.
he's built a tolerance to pain, and turns his hurt into sarcasm and jokes. he turns to music when he needs a pick me up or a stronger way of expressing himself, and he takes pride in throwing parties for other dolls to connect and interact.
on weekends or even for a whole week out of a month, he will go to the Dollhouse and connect with other dolls like himself. he attends a bi monthly support group for dolls who have recently formed a contract, as a way of better understanding rose, and dolls around him. he enjoys swimming at the Dollhouse with other dolls, and participating in community events, or seeing plays.
he doesn't remember anything but glimpses of his former life, except for rose. rose was a part of a music box that played the loveliest tune, and was adorned with pale pink roses, one of which happened to be rose. inside was a mirror, and an elegant ballerina. dev wonders what happened to the rest of the music box at times, but tries not to dwell on it.
rose sometimes plays the tune of the music box like a glitch of her former self, but dev doesn't mind the sweet sound. he thinks maybe there's a meaning behind it, but thus far just seems to be random.too far gone // sir sly
the garden:
paradise + lion's theme SU Soundtrack
too far gone is a direct link to his personality, and how he lost his mind upon first making a contract with rose and realizing the state his in, abandoned or lost. he had felt alone, and dealt with a lot of strife in his early days.
paradise is his second favorite tune, and relates to others' perception of him.
lion's theme is the tune from the music box rose plays.dev's garden is maintained by both himself and rose. it's full of mostly roses, but some peonies are in the garden too. the majority of the roses are a peachy pink color now, but there used to be a wide variety of reds, whites, peaches and pinks too; and many of the original rose plants can still be found among the rest. it lies in the courtyard to the west of the house (the house faces south), next to a large fountain. when the two of them first found the mansion, the fountain couldn't work as the pump was broken. after months of work, they managed to fix it, so a crystal clear water flows over the edges of the tiers to cycle back to the top. it glistens brightly in the muddled grey of the forecast.
other hobbies:some of devs other hobbies include writing music, playing guitar/piano, taking walks, visiting, throwing parties, swimming, and teasing.
rose's personality:rose seems to be an unusual shadow for a forgotten doll. she doesn't really communicate with anyone aside from getting tighter/looser around dev's wrist, and maybe other slight body movements. she doesn't speak, and it's unclear whether she can hear (although it's believed she can). overall, she just seems to always be there when she is needed, and to provide comfort in that way. she is extremely passive and never makes decisions on her own (granted she can). for an unknown reason, she plays the music box tune she came from at random.

Dev and evelyn aren't really the two dolls one might put together and say, "they're best friends!" Although it may seem unlikely, the best friend dev could have ever made is evelyn. Dev and ev, the duo against all odds.
It all began back at the Dollhouse summers ago. Dev was still going through his revival stage of chaos and confusion, and was visiting for the support groups. During his downtime, he would venture around the Dollhouse and see what sort of things were going on. He noticed the pool, and decided to take a dip to clear his head. Several other dolls were already don there, but it didn't matter to him. One doll was lounging in the shallow end with an astrology book in her hand, not interacting with anyone. He went and changed, then slipped into the pool beside her. He watched her, waited, and then looked around at the other dolls. At the other end of the pool they were playing a game of pool volleyball. He looked back at evelyn, but nothing was happening.
"So, are you new here?" he went up to her and asked.
"No, are you?" she returned, putting her book down and looking at him.
"Geez, didn't mean to agitate you," he replied defensively, "and actually, yes I am. I assumed you were too since you're by yourself."
"I just like being alone," came evelyn's reply, and she raised her book and resumed reading.
"Me too..." whispered dev with a sigh as he turned back to face the dolls playing volleyball.
dev stayed and watched for a few more minutes, but felt unwanted, so he got out and went back to his room. That night he had another episode and cried himself to sleep while rose held him tight.
The next day the support group met in the morning around 8 am. On his way to the meeting, dev passed evelyn again. She was carrying her book in her hand, and held a bag on her opposite shoulder, and this time fleur was also with her. Stopping him, she apologized.
"I'm sorry for my attitude yesterday."
"...okay" was all dev said.
"You're pretty cute, ya know? My name's evelyn. I'll buy you dinner? Maybe that'll help."
"Alright," said dev, a bit cautious. "I like pasta. And thanks, I guess."
"You're welcome, I guess?" Evelyn said mockingly.
"Listen, ev, i'm late to a meeting, but it was nice to meet you," said dev, waving, and heading on his way.
Turning around to watch him go, evelyn shouted after him, "Hey pretty boy! You forgot to tell me your name!"
"It's dev!" he shouted back, slightly grinning to himself. The meeting went better for him that day.
At dinner they bonded and shared stories. Evelyn told dev about herself, and dev did the same towards her. Evelyn shared her likes and dislikes, and dev told her about his new house, and how it was just about everything she wouldn't like. Through this tie together, the two of them became good friends, and decided to continue with the friendship. Now, everything is history.
Now, for three days every other week evelyn makes the trip to dev's house and tends to his garden with him, and rose and fleur play games too. And whenever dev goes to the Dollhouse, he always makes it a priority to spend some quality time with evelyn.---"For the last time rose! I don't know what's going on!" dev shouted from across the room.
He was panicking. Everything he'd known up until now, he didn't really know. His last good memory he was just being played with by some little girl, and in his mind that was only yesterday, but in reality it was god knows how many years ago. He's been in this frantic state since he met rose. She's tried to explain things to him, but he can't understand. It's been this way for a week now.
"You keep trying to tell me things, but they just can't be true!" he exclaimed exhausted. Dev's only been conscious for a week now.
"All these dolls here, they're just like me?" he asked trying to make sense of things. He was referring to the other dolls in the Dollhouse, they're current address. Rose nodded.
"Okay..."
Dev walked over and laid down on the bed. He grabbed a pillow and held it against his chest. He was starting to calm down again, a good sign.
"I just don't understand," he whispered. "How could this have happened?"
The next day it was like a switch had been flipped. Dev's emotional train wreck had just stopped. It was like that for a few days, and then the pain and chaos came back. Inside dev's head there was just so much going on that amidst all the chaos it was like he developed a bipolar disorder. He would go from panicked to fine and then back again for weeks on end, and so he joined a support group. Eventually it got so bad that he lashed out at the group. He insisted he was better than all of them, better than all of this, and he didn't know why he wasn't wanted by a human anymore. He felt so ashamed afterwards, that he decided he couldn't go back, not until he was under control. He couldn't even stay at the Dollhouse. They two of them set out to find a new place to live.
After travelling for what seemed like an eternity, they found an abandoned doll house in the wilderness. Moving away was good for dev. He took up gardening, and focused on being a good caretaker of the house. Whenever he had episodes, there was no one around to hurt, and to relive stress he could tear up the garden. They stayed off the grid for six years, and dev got better. He was familiar with his new life, and how things were. He didn't even remember the Dollhouse. The fall of his sixth year, rose decided to take him back and show him what it was like.
Not remembering the Dollhouse had it's side effects though. Since he'd been living on his own with just rose by his side, his self-absorbed mindset had room to foster, and dev became very arrogant. Unknowingly he would brag about random things, and scoff and dolls who looked below him. He had learned how to play instruments, and would showoff neat guitar riffs. He wouldn't eat anything that didn't look appetizing. It was hard for him to make any friends. Every time he would make an arrogant comment, she would tighten up on his wrist and the pressure would alert him so he would learn better. He also became quite selfish and rude. Despite this rose had a reason for keeping him at the Dollhouse. Periodically he would have issues with himself again and had to relearn that everything was okay, and that's the main reason rose brought him back. They would visit for a weekend, and then return back home.
His first few weekends were very difficult. His arrogance was so becoming that most dolls just tried to avoid him. He didn't know what was wrong with him. Soon enough he met a fairly blunt doll and she told him straight-up, he was arrogant and it was a problem. He denied it, but ever since it's been in the back of his mind. It isn't so bad anymore, but he's still quite the arrogant and selfish little twerp, at least to other he isn't familiar with. He just has this need to feel above others and to one-up them however he can, because he's afraid of being a nobody and of being walked all over by others. Hopefully he gets past it someday, but for now it doesn't seem likely.art:
