Why so late?: He was already running late ... But, earlier on, the news had spread of a special flower that only bloomed during spring on a certain day (the day of the party) and was edible. If eaten, the flower's specialness will cause the elvie who has eaten it to grow horns that smell like flowers! But, not just any flower type—all different kinds! The new grown horns will smell like whatever other elvies want to smell. So, if a certain elvie wanted to smell gardenias, that what it would smell from Percy's horns! But, if another elvie wanted to smell tulips, that's what they would smell! ... Anyway, Percy wanted to go find the special flower first and then go to the party to flaunt his new grown horns!
