Reason for Her Blindness: Mnemosyne lost her eyesight because of the jealousy of others and her own ego. Mnemosyne had always been the talk of the herd. Young stallions were easily mesmerized by her multicolored eyes and her flirtatious personality where as mares and fillies alike kept their men far away from her and glared daggers whenever she came near. She had relished in the attention she got from stallions and her infamy among mares, and made sure to exploit the colts that were at her every beck and call and rubbed it in all the mares' faces. She was making her way up the herd in rank, leaving a trail of destruction in her wake when she made her biggest mistake: messing around with the lead stallion. He didn't mind, but his mate certainly did. She was a big mare for an equid and much stronger than Mnemosyne. Mnemosyne was tackled to the ground and she hit her head on a rock. This caused blindness in one eye and splitting headaches whenever she felt really strong emotions towards something (like love, hate, envy). She ran from the herd, reputation and looks ruined. She's reminded of what he ego did to her whenever she looks at herself in a pool of water; her good eye glares accusingly back at her whispering Why couldn't you just think before acting? She wishes the rock had taken both eyes so she can't see how far she fell and what she's become- a mere shadow- a memory of her former glory.

Reason for Her Blindness: Permanent flash blindness- as a young filly, she wandered down to the farm near her herd's home. She caught sight of a glittering object and crept closer. The object was very reflective, though she cannot remember if it was a mirror or some type of sheet metal. The filly ducked her head closer as the sun peeked out from around a cloud- causing the object to act not unlike a magnifying glass. The sun reflected off the object, scorching her retinas before she had a chance to react. Tossing her head, the filly retreated with aching eyes and blurry vision. As the day progressed, her vision faded until she lost it completely around sunset.
