He was bound to the island centuries ago, and he is most often found in that building.

:: personality ::
Elli is a caring and loving Iquena. Due to his being bound to Ellis Island, he was often shoved into unwanted or unsavory situations in the past. He cares greatly for the emotional and physical state of the humans that pass through the island. In the past, he would help with calming frightened immigrants and comfort them in their native language.
He is used to being ignored by both humans and iquena, and is content with only the attention he receives when he is noticed or needed. As a result he is very quiet and shadow-like, easily ignored by the humans of his island. He takes advantage of this, taking what fruits he so desires from the Immigrant Museum and occasionally chatting with young humans who seem to be more detail and presence orientated. A funny sense of humor has been developed in him alongside his ability to be ignored. When rushing adults bustle past him, but their children stop to chat and they act surprised when he "suddenly" appears, Ellis can't help but chuckle some. The irony is simply hilarious to him.
It should be noted that Elli can be very stern and forceful for all of his kindness. He had to deal with some rather undesirable situations and people in the past, which have resulted in him becoming very headstrong and dominant when it is required. He hates showing his aggressive side though, and always apologizes profusely to the subject of his aggression. This aggression is most often shown when someone tries to trespass on the hospital grounds without permission.

Elli was bound to Ellis Island hundreds of years ago by one of the native tribes of the region, who believed that he was a lost god who needed a land to protect. In actuality, he was simply wandering the world for a suitable place to love, and was quite satisfied with the location that the natives bound him to. He lived in peaceful harmony with the natives and the settling Europeans that soon followed them. He watched the progress of the humans through the centuries with such harmless curiosity that they often invited him into their buildings. Ellis got to observe the humans, watching how they introduced new humans to their lands and all the different customs.
He suffered through the world wars with his humans, sheltering in their buildings and using his vast knowledge of medicine to assist in treating the wounded. He helped those coping with loss by providing physical comfort, he taught the basics of English to young children and became friends with all. He was seen as the protector of the island and welcomed by both the government officials and those who passed through.
It was before WWII started that he met a young Japanese girl. She never told him her name, but affectionately called him Ellis, after the name the humans had given his Island. It was she that wove him his halter in a traditional style and gave him his tail rings as well; simple pieces of metal that had been bent into a roughly circular shape. She became his friend for a short while. Then the war started. She left the island suddenly, and he never saw her again.
Ellis dealt with the loss quite well, having watched humans he had been close to in the past pass through his long life.

He watched as the immigration center closed and his hospital slowly fell apart. Humans started moving faster, ignoring the small things in life that made it really worth living. He faded back into the shadows, content to be ignored along with the hospital in the fast-minded modern times.

Crystal clear glade water with malachite lily pads that blossom frosted, ghostly lotuses in the humid emerald spellbound grove of topiary shrubs, thrive on the moist, rich soil of the thick, overgrown forest. Fowl harmonize in a placid tone while tooth and claw amble and lurk in the thicket.
Personality: Zephyr always had an impact on his immediate surroundings - the best way to spot him at a party is to look for the whirling eddy of people flitting about him as he moves from group to group. Laughing and entertaining with a blunt and earthy humor, Zephyr loves to be the center of attention. If an audience member is asked to come on stage, Zephyr volunteers - or volunteer a shy friend of his. Zephyr keeps his conversation energetic, with a good dose of intelligence, but he likes to talk about what is - or better yet, to just go out and do it. He only communicates to the wildlife where he lives, he does not show himself to humans or other Iqena.
