Today was really great! I had a whole lot of fun at school, and I think I even made a few friends! The teacher told us what the plans were for the year, but I already forgot most of what they said. Oh well, I like surprises! There was a big assembly in the lunchroom, I think it was some sort of official welcome ceremony or something else equally important. Whatever it was, I got to meet up with everyone else in 3nd grade after it was over. I mostly stuck with August, but I did meet someone really cool. His name was Varen, and he had wings! Well, they were only cardboard but that's still really cool!
I wasn't sure I was gonna like school this year 'cause August wasn't in my class. It was really scary at first, I didn't know anyone at all! Then I met this really nice girl, Nutella. She's really awesome, but unlike me she's not shy at all. We spent the first few days talking, and I found out that Nutella isn't her real name! She didn't tell me her real name, but I don't really mind. Did you know she moved here pretty recently too?
To celebrate my first week of school, Wesley let me play videogames with him! It was fun, but I wasn't very good. I kept pressing the wrong button and falling off the edge. August was better than me, I think he and Wes are still playing. I dunno though, I got bored of watching them and went to look for Anya. She didn't want to play, she was busy doing school stuff. Can you believe she has homework already?
That's it for this entry, I'd write more but I think it's almost dinner time.

School starts again tomorrow, and much as I'm looking forward to seeing my friends I'm not looking forward to the homework. I wonder if anyone I like is going to be in my class? I sure hope I have somebody, 5th grade is gonna be unbearable otherwise. Other than that, I'm sure 5th grade is gonna be really fun. I heard there's even a few clubs during lunch!
This was definitely one of the best summers yet! Wes, August and I found this really neat path, it leads right down to a pond. Mom didn't really like us going down there at first, I think she was worried that one us would fall in. We can all swim though, so I'm not sure why she was so concerned. Ma talked her into letting us play there, so that's where we spent a lot of time.
We dragged Anya down to hang with us a few times, she took this picture for me to put in my diary. On the fourth of July, Mom and Ma came down with popsicles! They were red, white and blue in honor of the holiday. We also got to go to the fireworks show! Its was loud, but really really cool! I loved the red ones the best and the ones that sizzled. Before the show started we played frisbee in the grassy area and Wesley told us about his favorite game- I think it was called Portal. Anya was being really social today, I think the holiday cheer is contagious! She also showed me some of her music, I really liked Paramore and Marina and the Diamonds.
I also got my library card renewed! I convinced Mom and Ma that I was old enough to walk the the library, but someone has to come with me. Usually August is okay with coming along, and sometimes Anya is if I don't bother her that much. I found a few books on mythology, and it's really fascinating. So far I've only read about Greek mythology, but I want to check out a few more books the next time I go to the library. My favorite so far is Athena, she's really smart and her symbol is my favorite animal - an owl!
I think Wes is calling me, something about an evening adventure. He wants to walk down to the park in the dark to see how different it looks. I gotta go if I don't want to be left behind!

It's spring break now, so I thankfully get a break from all the homework! It's been really tiring, and kinda stressful. Wes, August and I barely have any time for adventures, much less video games. In the freetime I do have, I've been reading up mythology and the supernatural. Honestly, it's all so fascinating! I think that skinwalkers might be my favorite monster, though Wendigos are a close second. I've been keeping notes on my finds in the margins of this journal and I'm actually thinking of starting another, solely for my research. August thinks it's a little silly, but he goes along with it. He's so awesome, I don't know what I'd do without him.
School's fun, but I definitely think I'm overworking myself. I like my teachers though, they're better than my elementary school ones. I met a new friend recently, her name's Tally. She really likes surfing. I've never been, but she says it's really fun. I think it sounds a little scary and August thinks it sounds dangerous.
I've been feeling kinda odd lately, not sick or anything, just odd. It might just be stress, but it's an awfully confusing feeling. It differs really, sometime it's fine and other times I feel uncomfortable wearing my favorite skirts. I think I'm going to tell August soon and maybe Ma. They're good at helping me figure stuff out.
On a happier note, I set up the best prank the other day. It was a bucket of confetti balanced on top of a doorframe- I would have used glitter but I thought that might be a bit mean. Anyways, August was going to walk right into it but Varen noticed and stopped him. I'll keep trying though, it's bound to work eventually. Mom's started calling me her little trickster, it oddly satisfying. My friends have also tossed the name Loki around, after the Norse trickster god. I can't decide if I like it or not yet.
That's all,

Dear journal,
About a month ago I worked up the courage to talk to August, and after a long discussion we came up with the term 'genderfluid.' I can say now, that yes, I do believe I am genderfluid. August really helps through a month of confusion and I finally told Ma this morning. She was very accepting, as I guessed hoped she would be, and I think I'll tell the rest of the family at dinner tonight. I would be surprised if they haven't guessed already, seeing as I've been going from frilly skirts and blouses to loose hoodies and beanies.
I'm a little nervous for school next year, seeing as I'm not always comfortable with female pronouns. I'm thinking of using xe/xer pronouns, they seem to fit me best. It's confusing and I'm a little worried to tell Nutella, Varen and Tally but I'll get through it, it's what I do.
On a happier note, I've successfully gained the title of 'School mythology nerd.' Wes and August have affectionately dubbed me the 'mythology freak.' I'm getting farther along in my journal, I let Anya read it when she wants to and she says I have quite the collection of information. Mom thinks I should give writing a book a shot, but I'm OT sure that's what I want to do. I think I might like to be a professor some day, one who teaches mythology. It may sound a little boring, but I think it would be awesome.
I can safely say that my favorite pantheon is Norse. It's all so cool with frost giants, dwarves, giant wolves and lightning-controlling hammers. My favorite, however, is definitely my nickname-sake, Loki. He's so cool, and I kinda feel bad for him (Those Marvel movies were good, but I like mythology Loki over Hiddleston's Loki). Anya is a little more distant recently, but we still hang out- it's mostly sitting in the same room and doing different things.
If I haven't mentioned it, school's out for the summer. I'm planning to hang out with Nutella and Tally on Friday, we're thinking about going swimming. No doubt Wes and I will end up getting in trouble and I foresee plenty of adventures by the pond. It's definitely been a trying school year, and I can't say it hasn't been hard, but my family and friends were there to help, and I know they always will be.

✖August;;✖Out of everyone she knows, Ven is undoubtedly closest to August. They share a very close relationship, and quite often tell each other everything. In her younger years, she clung to him quite a lot and always felt scared when separated. She's grown mostly out of that, though she still does feel a little uncomfortable if she's away from him for too long. He also helped her quite a bit during her gender crisis and was her 'rock in a stormy ocean' as she likes to put it. In all, Ven adores her brother and hopes that they keep their special 'twin' relationship.
✖Wesley;;✖
While not as close with Wesley as she is with August, Ven likes to think they share a healthy relationship. In the free time she chooses not to spend on reading mythology, she is usually hanging around with Wesley. She does like to play videogames with him, though she's not nearly as him- sometimes just watching him play is enough. Whenever they adventure around the neighborhood, she most often lets him lead. She really looks up to her older brother and wishes she could be as cool as he is.
✖Anya;;✖Ven really admires her oldest sister, but she feels a little more distant from her than she'd like to be. They don't hang out together as much as they used too and Ven feels like they should have some 'girl time' despite their age difference. She likes her sister's taste in music, and is thankful that Anya introduced her to her favorite bands, Para more and Marina and the Diamonds. She doesn't know as much as she'd like about Anya, but she hope they'll grow closer in the future.
✖Bella;;✖
Ven adores Bella, whom she calls 'Mom.' She doesn't really mind her mom's strictness, though sometimes it can be a little frustrating during the summer. Bella is Ven's main go-to for social help, or when she's had a bad day at school. She also very grateful for her mother's protective streak, and has hidden behind her many a time.
✖Tori;;✖Ven loves her mother Tori, who she tends to call 'Ma.' Tori is her main role model, and when Ven grows up she wants to be like her Ma. Ven's heard that her mother used to be famous, and likes to ask her about it every now and then. Knowing that Tori usually says yes, or at least can be more easily convinced to to say yes, Ven tends to ask Tori for permission to go on adventures.

✖Nutella;;✖Nutella is one of the first friends Ven made. They met in 3rd grade, the first year August wasn't in her class. Ven and Nutella hit it off immediately through a shared love of sweets. They made quite the pair and Nutella helped Ven get over being separated from August. Through the years, they've gotten in quite a bit of mischief- the most remember being a glitter-covered girl's bathroom. Nutella was the first one to throw around the nickname of 'Loki,' which ended up sticking. Ven considers Nutella her best friend.
✖Varen;;✖Varen is definitely one of Ven's best friends. They get along well and she really likes his cardboard wings. She met him in 3rd grade as well, though he wasn't in her class that year. Lunchtime with Varen was always fun, even if she did sometimes wonder about his obsession with vegetables. He always manages to spot the tricks she has set up, and it's become a personal goal of hers to successfully prank him- good naturedly of course.
✖Herself;;✖
Ven is pretty comfortable with her body and mind.
She feels like she belongs in her own skin and is
slowly adjusting to the feeling of being genderfluid.
After the minor moments of "How do I know which
pronoun I want to use" she figured out to trust her
gut and go along with it. She dislikes that she
procrastinates, though she is making an effort to
change and break the habit. Ven is immensely proud
of all the research she's done, whether it be on
mythology or the supernatural. Ven also loves the life
she has and all the bonds she has formed at school
and during the summer. She knows her family has her
back through the good and the bad and she couldn't
hope for anything better than that.

-✖ Next, I want to thanks all the artists who I commissioned for all the art. It's phenomenal, and all of it is absolutely gorgeous. I don't know what I would have done without any of you <3
-✖ And last but certainly not least, I'd like to thank *Watermelon Love* for letting me use Tally, she's a very beautiful little girl. I would like to thank The Pirate Dragon for letting me use Nutella and Varen, both of them are so cute and I do hope I got their personalities correct.
