lucky charm; a small piece of tree bark. one side is smooth and butter-coloured, the other side is rough, with jigsaw like shapes making up it's umber brown surface. it offered him endless curiosity as a colt, and when he really needed it, a small nibble was a rich snack. he can often be found parading around paddocks, knees high, balancing the tree bark on his nose. he is always protective of his charm, and if someone so much as tries to sniff it, their lucky if their not nipped and kicked. he is very defensive when it comes to his charm. most of the foals that believed it was magic slowly started to disbelieve when they became stallions and mares. but he still puts his faith in this little scrap of bark, that his dam gave him, the day she was sold off to another barn.

lucky charm; His lucky charm is actually a poker card, of course the Ace of Spades. When he was a foal, Ace stole a deck of poker cards and scattered them all across his dam's and his pasture. Out of all 52 cards, he ended up keeping and playing with the ace of spades. That's what inspired his show name, & has been with him ever since bring him luck, whether in training or at competition. It's typically tucked into his bridle cheek strap or in a special pocket sewn into his saddlepad. The original card has long been replaced, but Amethyst replaced it with a laminated card so it would last longer without getting damaged or ruined by sweat or mud.

Before a cross country run he will hold it in his mouth until it is time for him to go. He believes it has his parents blessing and wishes for good luck on it because they had tried so hard to obtain the plushie in the first place. He feels that it is a symbol of resistance and perseverance.
