Akumi was struggling for sometime in his life, he never had enough money and was homeless. He wandered the streets, searching for somewhere to sleep or find some food. He got in many fights, usually walking away with nothing after.
One day, Akumi walked past a little bakery that had been there for quite some time now. He was starving and hadn't eaten in two days. It smelled amazing, like a home during a holiday, full of different scents that mixed together as a whole. Akumi felt his mouth water with hunger. I could ask and see if there are any scraps or leftover bread, the day's almost over anyway, he thought. So Akumi walked into the bakery, the smell hitting him. Baskets of bread lined the walls behind the register. There was a fireplace that was surrounded with couches and love seats. It felt like Akumi was in a dream. He walked up to the register, quietly cleared his throat and took a deep breath, "Uh, e-excuse me? Do you happen to have, um, any leftover b-bread? I-If not I'll, um, pay for a small roll." Akumi said quietly. "Hm?" An older plumerian popped from behind the counter. She quickly looked at Akumi, looked away, then looked again. "Oh! You want leftover bread don'tcha, dear?", the older one asked. Akumi nodded his head slowly. "You can have some... and you can stay the night here, little one, it's getting pretty cold. Wouldn't want you freezing to death, now would we?" she giggled. Akumi's eyes lit up, "R-Really! Oh, thank you, thank you! You are the kindest person I've ever met!", Akumi felt like he just won a million dollars, except with bread instead of money. The old woman gave him two bagels covered in cream cheese, "This is for tonight, I'll give you more in the morning, little one."after a long pause, the old plumie spoke up again, " If ya don't mind me askin', what's your name, dear?" Akumi took a bite of his bagel, swallowed and replied, " My name is Akumi. I also go by Aku."The old woman nodded, " Well, Akumi, you're quite young to be on the streets, aren't you?". Akumi slowly nodded.
After a bit of chitchat, the old woman (Akumi found out that her name was Tamora) went to bed. Before she did, Tamora brought Akumi a decent sized piece of beautiful blue cloth," It's the only thing I have close to a blanket, dear. Sorry.". Akumi thanked her and drifted off to sleep by the fire.
In the morning, Tamora came downstairs, greeted Akumi and gave him 10 fresh rolls. " Uh, Tamora, I think you gave me the wrong thing.". Tamora chuckled, "Nonsense, Aku. You wanted rolls, so I gave you some. Simple as that."
Soon after, Akumi felt as if it was time to go. "Tamora? Do you, uh, want your blanket back?" Tamora just shrugged, " Keep it, lad. I don't mind. It would look nice as a bandana or scarf.", she winked. Akumi walked over to Tamora, thanked her and walked to the door. Just before he left, blanket on his neck and bag of rolls in his mouth, Tamora chimed in. "Feel free to come back, you're always welcome, Akumi."Akumi teared up, whispered thank you and walked out the door.

Here's a little epilogue or alternative ending since I didn't want to tack on more to the story, it's pretty long. It pretty much just tells what happened after.
You can read it if you want , it doesn't really affect anything¯\_(ツ)_/¯
_______
After coming back multiple times, mainly just to visit, Tamora asked if Akumi would like to stay and help at the bakery. Akumi accepted and loved helping out.
Tamora passed 6 years later and Akumi now runs his own bakery (with help of course). He's never taken off his little scarf and he loves his little bakery. Homeless or less fortunate people can come here for free bread.
